well at least MSU doesnt have to worry anymore about where Michigan is ranked
2751172, Good lawd Ohio State is DESTROYING Michigan State
Posted by Sofian_Hadi, Sat Nov-20-21 01:14 PM
They just needed time to get their first year QB acclimated. They look legit
2751175, MSUs pass defense is terrible
Posted by cgonz00cc, Sat Nov-20-21 01:28 PM
in retrospect, the UM-MSU weather worked heavily into MSUs favor
2751180, That’s why Cade looked so good in that game…
Posted by soulfunk, Sat Nov-20-21 02:22 PM
2751194, yes but he also turned some sort of corner
Posted by cgonz00cc, Sat Nov-20-21 05:29 PM
bc hes continued to look good
2751183, i think there was a shoulder injury issue early on
Posted by 3xKrazy, Sat Nov-20-21 02:43 PM
>They just needed time to get their first year QB acclimated.
2751186, they also demoted their DC after the Oregon game
Posted by will_5198, Sat Nov-20-21 04:05 PM
and aren't getting gashed by the same play 20 times a game
2751227, gotta be humiliating for coombs
Posted by 3xKrazy, Sun Nov-21-21 10:00 AM
replaced by a young guy in barnes w/no DC experience who comes in and does the job 10000x better with the same group of players.

this is also partially why i refuse to call last year's bama offense the greatest ever. part of that title was earned after beating the pants off a coombs coached defense which as we now know is not some miraculous feat.
2751173, lol this aint even entertaining
Posted by tariqhu, Sat Nov-20-21 01:20 PM
2751174, Mel eating caviar at halftime
Posted by 3xKrazy, Sat Nov-20-21 01:28 PM
2751176, on pace to give up a point for every $1M of his new contract
Posted by cgonz00cc, Sat Nov-20-21 01:29 PM
2751177, I hope he signed before the game…
Posted by soulfunk, Sat Nov-20-21 02:04 PM
2751181, CJ Stroud is going to be sooo much better than Fields...oh boy be scared
Posted by guru0509, Sat Nov-20-21 02:35 PM
Cannot wait to put michigan to the sword next week.

>well at least MSU doesnt have to worry anymore about where
>Michigan is ranked
2751182, looking great but needs to get this tuck it and run thing figured out
Posted by 3xKrazy, Sat Nov-20-21 02:41 PM
like he's maybe the worst ive ever seen at it
2751184, Is he not a good scrambler?
Posted by Sofian_Hadi, Sat Nov-20-21 03:56 PM
I'm not familiar enough with him, but the announcers mentioned he never runs.
2751192, he has speed but also a very strange aversion to taking off and running
Posted by 3xKrazy, Sat Nov-20-21 05:08 PM
when easy yardage is in front of him.

if you saw that one play today in MSU territory where no one was open and he had a lot of space in front of him...he hesitated and tried running laterally because he didn't want to give up on the pass...and then very hesitantly took a few yards ahead of him and took an awkward dive.

the whole thing is just kinda weird.

if you wanna be a championship qb you have to be willing to tuck it and pick up some tough yards.
2751196, i think *he thinks* he's perpetuallly one second away
Posted by cgonz00cc, Sat Nov-20-21 06:02 PM
from a touchdown pass

which is a cool mentality, but youre right. there's always a point where the ghost must be given up. id much rather deal with Stroud's tendencies than someone who doesnt want to stand in the pocket.
2751197, yes, it's easy to be overconfident with this wr corps
Posted by 3xKrazy, Sat Nov-20-21 06:10 PM
> id much rather deal
>with Stroud's tendencies than someone who doesnt want to stand
>in the pocket.

OL has kept him pretty clean this year. that will change next week so it will be interesting to see how he responds.
2751215, he could win the Heisman now
Posted by will_5198, Sat Nov-20-21 11:21 PM
if he has two big games to finish the year and Bryce Young struggles against Georgia
2751187, Seven Loss Sark
Posted by will_5198, Sat Nov-20-21 04:06 PM
great progress in Texas so far, their wins are:

TCU
Texas Tech
Rice
Louisiana-Monroe
2751203, texas is down horrendous rn

2751188, remember when the Pac-12 used to be the scoring league?
Posted by will_5198, Sat Nov-20-21 04:09 PM
what a fucking eyesore these teams are, week after week

Washington and Colorado have less than 200 yards COMBINED as they approach halftime
2751206, Chip read this
Posted by Ceej, Sat Nov-20-21 08:17 PM
2751218, Cmon Will that is some cherry picking
Posted by calij81, Sun Nov-21-21 02:18 AM
UW is a dumpster fire and just fire both their OC and HC, no surprise there. Colorado has been offensively challenged all season, no surprise there.

Same could be said for the SEC and defense, which is clearly not played at an elite levels anymore at Florida, see last weeks game or this weeks Bama/Arkansas.
2751349, i mean the Pac 12 did fall into the Grand Canyon (using "a cliff" wouldnt do justice)
Posted by HecticHavoc, Mon Nov-22-21 05:06 PM
at least we could always rely on USC or Oregon to say things like "they have one of the best offenses in the country", they would always have a top 3-5 RB/WR and a QB in the Heisman race. its a complete clusterfuck over on this side of the country for college football. at least we have elite NFL teams!

i usually have warpaint on defending the pac12 on this board but you cant defend this shit at all
2751198, what a fall for Georgia Tech
Posted by cgonz00cc, Sat Nov-20-21 06:26 PM
for 10 years we had a "thing". it gave us a rep, it leveled off our recruiting disadvantages, it brought us championships of a various sort (division/conference/bowl).

not only that...but it scared people. every game i ever went to in the Paul Johnson era, fans would talk about just not wanting to be one of those teams we ran for 450/6 on. UGA/LSU/ND/Clemson/whoever.

now we're the Biggest Loser in college football. extensive historical tradition and starpower reduced to rubble. Geoff Collins would need to win the last 2 games of the season to have as many career wins at GT in 3 years as PJ had in EITHER 2009 or 2014. he currently has 9, placing him on par with PJs 2008 and 2016 totals.

this is some bullshit.
2751201, bryce young to jameson williams connection is cooking
Posted by BrooklynWHAT, Sat Nov-20-21 07:06 PM
2751210, you have to preface it as 'osu transfer jameson williams'
Posted by 3xKrazy, Sat Nov-20-21 11:04 PM
it's like a rule or something
2751214, that's crazy he was though
Posted by will_5198, Sat Nov-20-21 11:20 PM
he flew by Metchie as the top dog real quick
2751216, he wasnt all that great at osu
Posted by 3xKrazy, Sat Nov-20-21 11:51 PM
seemed like a one trick pony as a guy that could go over the top but not much else

and was unreliable as a pass catcher

good to see him have success elsewhere
2751209, damn Utah stomped a mudhole in Oregon, Bama barely beat Arkansas...
Posted by ThaTruth, Sat Nov-20-21 10:57 PM
in Cincy #2 now? this season is crazy
2751211, 1. UGA
Posted by tariqhu, Sat Nov-20-21 11:15 PM
2. OSU
3. Cincy
4. Bama
5. Mich
6. ND

That's how I see it. Only team that can take a L and still get in is UGA.
2751225, Then next week GT beats UGA, UM beats OSU, Auburn beats Bama….
Posted by ThaTruth, Sun Nov-21-21 09:45 AM
and Cincinnati will be #1 for a week then they lose the following week lol
2751281, 1) we aint beating UGA
Posted by cgonz00cc, Sun Nov-21-21 07:47 PM
2) Michigan and OSU have the same 10-1 record. GT is 3-8 and Auburn is 6-5. Those 3 things are not alike.
2751347, lol
Posted by tariqhu, Mon Nov-22-21 04:35 PM
2751219, Bears up, cards down. Fuck a Stanford tree
Posted by calij81, Sun Nov-21-21 02:19 AM
Roll on you Bears…
2751228, and fuck the pac 12 network for not letting me see these games
Posted by 3xKrazy, Sun Nov-21-21 10:02 AM
i played cal early in the week and thought i screwed up big time when they said mckee was going to be playing.

clearly that did not matter.
2751243, I guess Dan Mullen is gone tooo...
Posted by ThaTruth, Sun Nov-21-21 01:22 PM
https://www.cbssports.com/college-football/news/florida-fires-coach-dan-mullen-in-fourth-season-as-gators-implode-one-year-after-winning-sec-east-per-reports/

gonna be some sad Thanksgivings I hope no one asks who made the potato salad...
2751247, His buyout should ease the pain
Posted by 3xKrazy, Sun Nov-21-21 01:37 PM

>gonna be some sad Thanksgivings I hope no one asks who made
>the potato salad...

A lot of big time openings for a relatively weak pool of candidates
2751248, he'll be next up at the Saban image rehab center
Posted by BrooklynWHAT, Sun Nov-21-21 01:41 PM
2751264, especially if bama loses the OC.
Posted by tariqhu, Sun Nov-21-21 05:14 PM
Mullen would probably be a good fit for that role.
2751268, i dunno if mullen is really *that* toxic that he needs a saban pit stop
Posted by 3xKrazy, Sun Nov-21-21 06:19 PM
his name was being mentioned for nfl gigs maybe a year or two back. NFL seems like a good place for him as an OC. he can be the absolute lunatic that he is and nobody would care.

maybe his boy urban will hire him
2751275, I really hope not. He needs to be an NFL OC
Posted by dillinjah, Sun Nov-21-21 07:16 PM
From there, who knows.
2751244, Damn, we got Dan Mullen fired (not reallly, but). M-I-Z…
Posted by Dstl1, Sun Nov-21-21 01:32 PM
2751399, I personally think Florida is 10x better of a job than USC or LSU
Posted by guru0509, Tue Nov-23-21 02:04 PM

Granted its the SEC and you gotta deal with Saban, but whoever ends up there doesnt even have to leave the state to recruit...with Da U and FSU being down, netting elite HS prospects should be like shooting fish in a barrel for a coach with charisma and a winning record.

edit I wonder if they make a run at Mel Tucker (being a former Saban disciple with an SEC background etc)
2751406, 10 year extension for Franklin.
Posted by Ceej, Tue Nov-23-21 04:39 PM
2751430, It was the fake fg vs mich that brought psu admin to their knees
Posted by 3xKrazy, Wed Nov-24-21 08:08 AM
Harbaugh 15 year extension next?
2751431, I was there at the game and had a perfect view of that play.
Posted by Mignight Maruder, Wed Nov-24-21 08:36 AM
Quite possibly the dumbest play-call I’ve seen in a long while. Instead of putting the ball in your best playmakers hands on a 4th and goal at the 2, you opt to run a fake field goal and to the side that had 7 defenders??! It was beyond frustrating and confusing.
2751432, After the way this season has played out, I’m conflicted on this one
Posted by Mignight Maruder, Wed Nov-24-21 09:13 AM
Yes, I know many PSU fans are stuck in the 80s and are deluded into thinking PSU is a top tier destination and program that should be competing for championships year in year out. I also know that Franklin garners more criticism than he should due to the many racists within PSU’s fan base. By the same token, I do think PSU has more than enough resources to be a more competitive program. They’re consistently top 5 in attendance and the flagship college football program in the mid-Atlantic/northeast - which is still rich in talent. PSU is uniquely positioned to be at least a top 10 program.

Ups and downs are expected, but losing in 10 OT to Illinois at home is pretty inexcusable. I personally think Franklin leaves a lot to be desired as a play-caller and game day manager. He really needs to either do a better job developing OL or find a much better OL coach. He also has to start recruiting and developing better QBs if the team ever wants to get over the hump.

All in all, I’m not sure what to think. I do wonder if this is a case where you’re much more comfortable with what you have vs the alternative. At the end of the day, Franklin is a hell of a recruiter and program builder. He’s supposedly got one of the best recruiting classes in the nation coming in next year. The program could be in much worse shape. It does seem like players love him and don’t quit on him. You gotta give him credit for that. But again, for as much NFL talent coming through the program, it’s not unreasonable to expect more success on the field.

This just took a interesting turn as many speculated that Franklin was openly courting USC and LSU and track to “mutually part ways” with PSU.
