it's already too many faucets to turn off w/o Klay, and they have more than enough options on defense to cut any team off

2750962, Barclays crowd reaction to Steph is so different than MSG
Posted by Amritsar, Tue Nov-16-21 09:45 PM
In Madison Square Garden its muted appreciation. You still hear the oohs and ahhs, but its clearly under their breath

in Barclays they're fuckin cheering for him/us lmao

No Nets fan was cheering for them 😂 you delusional dummy

Aww , I struck a nerve . It’s ok I still got love for you . If you’re here when your hometown Kings are , I’ll give you a family discount on tickets 😉..

Burn it’ll take time. Basically all the kids my sons age across the city are nets fans. When they first moved to Brooklyn they did a great job of going grassroots and recruiting fans from immigrant communities deeper in BK like sunset park. It’s not even gentrifiers like a lot of non NYets believe.

But right now, lots of fans who live in NY from other cities trying to rep. I went to the heat game and was surprised to see how many bros were in the stadium rocking their Miami Vice unis. Don’t even know that many Miami bros in NYC in general
2750974, Joe Tsai and the Nets fixed alot of the playgrounds in BK too
Posted by guru0509, Tue Nov-16-21 11:25 PM
they basically went park to park fixing rims, poles, adding nets, repaving courts and handing out Brooklyn Nets stickers/merchandise etc

My gf is a teacher and she basically echo3d you, the students are nets fans but all their parents are Knick fans...and this is Crown heights, Park SLope, PLG, Flatbush etc

if they win a title , they will get so many new fans within the city, it will be pretty even IMO.

2750968, The best I was hoping for was a "Warriors scratch a tough win" game
Posted by mrhood75, Tue Nov-16-21 10:12 PM
But that was a "Stop! Stop! He's already dead!" unholy beatdown.

Obviously, Steph is the biggest story, followed by Wiggins' first half finish, but I was also impressed by the bench, which pretty much stunk against Charlotte. Kuminga, who wasn't supposed to be playing much, if at all, this season, is contributing where he can.

So yeah, this exceeded ALL my expectations. Great bounce back to set up the Cavs game on Thursday.
2750978, Argh I'm gonna have to miss the Cavs game-thanks for reminding me! nm

Posted by RandomFact, Wed Nov-17-21 01:16 PM
pretty sure i called this when he signed. dude wanted to live that new york life and coast to championships by putting in minimal effort on the court (and I assume maximum effort off the court).

there is still time for them to turn it around and they probably will to an extent, but at the moment i'm loving the failure of another group of superfriends.

2751007, He couldn’t.
Posted by allStah, Wed Nov-17-21 02:04 PM
He had a 2 degree hamstring tear, so he couldn’t do anything.
2751037, dude loves to hoop*. i'll give him that. seen it in LA in the offseason
Posted by RandomFact, Wed Nov-17-21 10:35 PM
*pickup hoop where he dominates lesser players.

but instead of doing the other things that lead to playing winning basketball (working out, eating healthy, living in the gym/being dedicated 24/7 ie mamba) dude loves to enjoy himself away from the court. i'm not mad at that. just won't be surprised if he never wins a championship.

2751014, Kyrie gave then the siren song and they responded
Posted by Castro, Wed Nov-17-21 04:51 PM
now they are stuck. They can't unload on him, because any chance he will come back will be shot.

So they have to do what they can.

Its not like the team is in last place, and its early as hell in the season.

Let's see where they are at in April/May.
2751018, Right, the Nets are *one game* out of first in the East.
Posted by Frank Longo, Wed Nov-17-21 05:43 PM
And that's with Kyrie out and Harden still not yet in shape.

They are exceptionally fine. I hope they lose a couple more in the next week so I can HAMMER them winning the East in Vegas over Thanksgiving, lol.

2751027, But the other big variable beside Ky, is the east is fucking wild this year
Posted by Castro, Wed Nov-17-21 08:49 PM
You can go to Orlando and fuck around and have Terrence Ross drop 40 on you and lose.

So there is that...whomever emerges from the east, if they are healthy, they are winning a chip, because they sure as fuck will be battle tested.
2751017, Steph is must-watch tv
Posted by Vex_id, Wed Nov-17-21 05:20 PM
He might actually be better right now than he was during his back-to-back MVP stints. He's physically matured, stronger, somehow an even deadlier shooter, and wiser/more cerebral in how he gets to his spots.

It's very early - but Warriors are easily best team in the league; Steph front-runner for MVP.

-->
2751028, Giannis is a combination of Jordan/Wilt
Posted by allStah, Wed Nov-17-21 08:57 PM
It’s scary. He got handles and athleticism like Jordan, and
he has Wilt’s size and force.

He is eating Anthony Davis alive, and Davis is also a big man
with footwork like a guard, but he seems like a slow ass
Manute Bol compared to Giannis.

Giannis is grating the paint like a layup line.

Lakers’interior defense is pure trash.
2751030, Giannis is giving AD the business
Posted by ThaTruth, Wed Nov-17-21 09:08 PM

2751035, wasn't thomas thibodeau your team's coach? You know what it is.
Posted by Castro, Wed Nov-17-21 10:24 PM
he gonna blame everyone, including Spike for not cheering hard enough.

Won't play Toppin with Randle even though that combo has resulted in dynamite defense and offense.

Won't play the rookies, Kemba runs hot and cold, but you gotta keep him in the game when he is hot. D-Rose is tired, Noel is injured, Taj is overworked and Mitch is one fall away for being on IR, and Jericho Sims can't even take off his warmup jacket.

Fournier goes cold. Grimes sits. Knox sits. And McBride got assigned to Westchester.

January will roll around, injuries will hit. We'll be sitting around 10-11 spot in the east...and none of these cats, who will then be pressed into service to 'save' the season, will have any meaningful minutes under their belt. They will flail about, we'll make a final run in March/April, and probably fall short, because shit by then, everyone short of Orlando or Detroit will be battle tested and up to the task.

Fuck Thibs. Last year was lipstick on a trout.
2751042, Same ole Tommy
Posted by allStah, Thu Nov-18-21 12:03 AM
It never changes. He will run his starters into the ground, and will
stick with the same players.

Randle looks shot, as well as Fournier.

Toppin should be starting

2751036, I can live with that loss.
Posted by Ryan M, Wed Nov-17-21 10:32 PM
2751047, we tried but Vogel sabotaged again
Posted by BrooklynWHAT, Thu Nov-18-21 07:23 AM
That lineup with Rondo Baze and DJ in the 4th for like 4 mins was gross. Another lineup we don’t need to see fail to already know it’s not going to work.
2751049, he needed to play DJ and Howard more because AD can't play center against...
Posted by ThaTruth, Thu Nov-18-21 08:05 AM
Giannis
2751069, Swap DJ with Howard?..
Posted by CyrenYoung, Thu Nov-18-21 02:01 PM
..I understand the juggling act due to injuries, but Howard's a much better defender.

2751038, Chicago's offense looks like a Black Thought verse
Posted by Castro, Wed Nov-17-21 10:59 PM
GATDAM. Portland isn't even playing bad (although Dame is sleepwalking)....but Chicago is playing in a different gear.
2751039, Dame/CJ = 6 at half. Actually Dame has all 6. 1-10 combined
Posted by RandomFact, Wed Nov-17-21 11:09 PM
he/they may be sleepwalking but the bulls defense has ALOT to do with that. defense is looking elite.

2751041, Mos definitely..
Posted by Castro, Wed Nov-17-21 11:30 PM
but seeing a Billy Donovan team move the ball and not play...your turn ISO is eye popping...there was a sequence in the second quarter that was scary.

2751050, Naw
Posted by allStah, Thu Nov-18-21 08:14 AM
Portland is 7-1 at home, and very tough in the second half. Plus
Chauncey knew that our interior was weak, so he played Nance and Nurkic
together, and they murdered in the paint.

If Bulls management doesn’t take care of that immediately, we will
get cooked....and that’s with or without Vucevic.

It was the same thing with Billy’s Okc team, 4 guards with vicious defense,
but were weak inside with Danilo/ Adams....It hurt them later on.

2751054, you mean Billy Donovan is "who we thought he was"-Dennis Earl Green

Posted by guru0509, Fri Nov-19-21 08:24 AM
dude has no business being a head coach

What myself, and most other Nets fans/investors wanted to see was Popp hand over the reigns to one of his assistants and then Sean Marks brings his old mentor / coach / consigliere to Brooklyn, so we have an actual Xs and Os guy running the team.

TBH I'm starting to think Mike Dantoni was the de facto coach last year with Nash holding the clipboard

them other two cats that's just holding wiseman and klay's spots get some burn.

oh yeah, wigs, loon and poole. let's see wigs and poole operating as a 1 and 2. be really nice if poole can have a breakout game. wiggins can do it with enough minutes.

and I know Wall is getting paid $40+mil to stay at the crib but why?

where's RBO when you need him? and not even to explain why AD got rag-dolled by Giannis last night...
2751111, if cuz is in shape the bulls could definitely use him for depth
Posted by RandomFact, Thu Nov-18-21 10:35 PM
he probably doesn't fit with what donovan is trying to do on the defensive end, but a few minutes here and there could help when the offense is in a rut.
2751115, Re: Cuz, it's always tough to shake the "difficult/ego" rep.
Posted by Frank Longo, Thu Nov-18-21 11:30 PM
Like, Carmelo was out of the league for nearly a year because people thought "he can only play one way, and if he's getting older, we don't need that guy, we just need a team player." And he's clearly still a 15 PPG dude, lol. So we know that sort of "he wants to play *this* way" reputation exists, even for former All-Stars.

So add the injury stuff he's dealt with too, and I'm sure a lot of teams think, "fuck it, I'd rather just get a role player with whom we know what we're getting." I agree that Cuz is probably individually better than a number of role players, and I'm not saying it's fair... but if all you need is 10-12 MPG out of a guy, would you rather take 31-year-old Cuz or a 25-year-old who can defend and stay healthy? He hasn't played more than 50 games in a season since he was 26-- a lot of teams may just think he's not worth the dice roll.

Re: Wall, they agreed early in the season that Wall wouldn't play while they looked for a trade. Wall is undoubtedly happy to be a mentor, save his knees, and get paid handsomely to do so. He doesn't want to bust his ass for a 10-15 win team at this point in his career. And he doesn't want to play so badly that he'll take a buyout (which I think is the smart move for him). So he'll bide his time. I'm skeptical he'll get dealt this year, but maybe around the deadline some team fed up with some big expiring contract player will make a move, who knows. Anything can happen around the deadline.

situation. Which is still weird to me how the league has shift to were there's almost no place veteran role players on rosters any more to the point were teams like the Lakers are ridiculed for having veteran roles players.

I feel like Houston was on some funny business with the Morey/Antoni regime and the owner may be continuing that.

>Like, Carmelo was out of the league for nearly a year because
>people thought "he can only play one way, and if he's getting
>older, we don't need that guy, we just need a team player."
>And he's clearly still a 15 PPG dude, lol. So we know that
>sort of "he wants to play *this* way" reputation exists, even
>for former All-Stars.
>
>So add the injury stuff he's dealt with too, and I'm sure a
>lot of teams think, "fuck it, I'd rather just get a role
>player with whom we know what we're getting." I agree that Cuz
>is probably individually better than a number of role players,
>and I'm not saying it's fair... but if all you need is 10-12
>MPG out of a guy, would you rather take 31-year-old Cuz or a
>25-year-old who can defend and stay healthy? He hasn't played
>more than 50 games in a season since he was 26-- a lot of
>teams may just think he's not worth the dice roll.
>
>Re: Wall, they agreed early in the season that Wall wouldn't
>play while they looked for a trade. Wall is undoubtedly happy
>to be a mentor, save his knees, and get paid handsomely to do
>so. He doesn't want to bust his ass for a 10-15 win team at
>this point in his career. And he doesn't want to play so badly
>that he'll take a buyout (which I think is the smart move for
>him). So he'll bide his time. I'm skeptical he'll get dealt
>this year, but maybe around the deadline some team fed up with
>some big expiring contract player will make a move, who knows.
>Anything can happen around the deadline.

And you're right Wall may be content to chill and collect checks but I would think he would have more pride than that and want to go out on a contender even in a lesser role.

record intact. reps all around.

mostly just watched the box scores and play by play, but wigs and poole put up 59 pts between them.

JTA did a draymond impression w/ a handful of rebounds and 9 assists and hardly any points.

lee was off, offensively, but i assume he played good d. young glove did his thing.

bjelica scored.

loon had double digit rebounds.

they had a double digit lead with around 5 min to go in the 4th. seemed like they started fouling a LOT.

great game to get all that PT for those guys AND get rest for the vets.

peace & blessings,

with no Brown.

Dennis got his revenge, too

Squad is old and slow as hell.

AD is playing very disinterested out there. He just appears to be apathetic,
as if he is simply going through the motion.

This team isn’t going to make the POs

Tatum is that guy....and ethered every laker guarding him.

did anyone else bet this game?

We need to create a betting thread on OKP.

>We here. Bulls are here.

tough, gritty smart basketball vs the Heat, and got a W with a 10 point comeback at the end. KCP looking like a renewed man out there...Dinwiddie picked up right where he left off before the ACL injury.

edit God I wish the Nets had kept him.

he probably didn’t mean to hit him in the face, but that bow was intentional af.

I once got popped there and was confident I'd need stitches because it bled so much so quickly. It was fine like 10-15 minutes later-- it's just real thin skin up there. But yeah, it's always rough.
2751290, You SO right…
Posted by Dstl1, Sun Nov-21-21 08:43 PM
same thing happened to me, but it was self inflicted. I was on lunch and only had 30 minutes. Went to a subway, right around the corner from the shop. Got my food and tried to run out. My body tried to go out the door before my arm had pushed it open…banged my eye on the metal frame part. I was super embarrassed so I just kept it moving. Got to the car and blood was pouring down my face. I thought about driving myself to the emergency room, but I went back to the shop. I just knew my whole forehead was split open or some shit. Got back with a mess of bloody Subway napkins on my head. Our warranty clerk, who was also in nursing school, looked at it and said…boy, it’s a small cut in your eyebrow. She put on some gloves and a drop of super glue and a butterfly bandage later…it was good. By the next day, it had already started healing on its own.

Posted by allStah, Sun Nov-21-21 07:53 PM
It really is. Pistons are a terrible team, playing backups at that.

No olynk, no Hayes,.....playing Joseph at PG

And they are running circles around a team with 4 top 75
players of all time.

2751288, dirty ass play from Lebron but Stewart didnt really want it
Posted by BrooklynWHAT, Sun Nov-21-21 08:39 PM
if he did there was a point where him and bron were face to face he wouldve did something then.

AD actually looked a bit like his 2019/2020 self down the stretch
2751289, ... I dunno, dude, it seems like he wanted it, lol
Posted by Frank Longo, Sun Nov-21-21 08:43 PM
He may not have come out swinging, but that mad dash after him, I don't think that shit was for the cameras, lol. Dude was seeing red.
2751291, Nah…right after the hit…
Posted by Dstl1, Sun Nov-21-21 08:44 PM
he had Bron face to face and didn’t bust a move. That was as good as he was gonna get.
2751294, So he was just running for sport? Just a casual wind sprint?
Posted by Frank Longo, Sun Nov-21-21 08:52 PM
lol, I definitely think it's possible to not fully be seeing red until a bit later. It's a lot easier to lose control once you've felt your blood run down your face for a few seconds and you've had some time to think just how bitchmade Bron's shot was.

If Stewart wanted to just jaw for the cameras, he coulda just stayed yelling and shit (we call this "the Jimmy Butler"). But that sprint after Bron he made is gonna cost him games. And I don't think it was some pretend make-believe Studio Thug shit, lol. Stewart's not really a guy with that reputation at all. I think he snapped.

edit: https://streamable.com/rko3c4 <--- they're holding Stewart's arms down real quick. He's trying to wriggle out from a really early point... yeah, man. I don't think that was acting.
2751297, Yup. He definitely snapped

2751305, Detroit brings out the crazy again
Posted by Vex_id, Sun Nov-21-21 09:36 PM
That was one of the most bizarre games I've ever seen. Lakers were dead in the water after that brawl and then climb back down 17 to blitz the 4th. Beyond strange.

Felt bad for Stewart being the beneficiary of that strike. I think he may have even been concussed. After the strike he was knocked down dazed for several seconds, and then it took him a while to come to his senses after taking a flush shot.

Stewart was really dug in on that free throw attempt to throw Bron out the box - and Bron basically throws a shot behind him to fend him off and it lands right on the button. The way he reacted it didn't seem like he intended to hit him flush in the face like that (from the above-angle looks like he's trying to knock Stewart's arms off him) - but who knows. He conceded right away and tried to put his arms out apologetically - but Stewart understandably wasn't having it. When Stewart barked Bron barked back and other Lakers said something too - then I think that's when Stewart went off as the blood started dripping. Stewart actually went after multiple Lakers - particularly DJ & Russ. He was mad AF at everybody, including his own team.

Ghost of Artest was in the building.

This is why it's crazy when people are like "oh I don't think LeBron could play in the 80's - too physical." You couldn't have an 80's style game in today's era. Bron has always been a physical freak and these guys are way too strong. This ain't Bill Laimbeer throwing harmless, flailing slaps. People would be getting seriously hurt.

Edit: Bron still got his 10 lol. That crazy streak (most consecutive games ever in double digits) just won't end.

2751318, so did stewart get tossed early on in the confrontation?
Posted by RandomFact, Mon Nov-22-21 12:57 AM
like before he got super super aggressive?

because i think a player should be allowed to verbally confront a guy that just hit him in the face. that's human nature. i wouldn't be surprised if the combination of getting tossed, the blood all up in his face, and the hilarity of lebron/the soft lakers attempting to talk tough was just too much for a guy that was essentially punched in the face.

2751327, “I’m calm, I’m calm….SIKE!!”
Posted by DJR, Mon Nov-22-21 11:03 AM
The fact he was able to pull that move like 3 times is hilarious. It was like a WWE brawl where the wrestlers keep getting pulled apart, and then one eventually breaks free and charges at the other.
