2748548, Apparently DeAndre Ayton is pissed that he didn't get a max contract...
Posted by ThaTruth, Mon Oct-18-21 02:14 PM
even though he was great on a team that went to the Finals I can understand being hesitant about committing that much money to a fairly traditional big man in a league that's trending small.
2748549, They're the Suns.
Posted by Ryan M, Mon Oct-18-21 02:39 PM
They need to keep their core happy.

They gave CP3 and Bridges a ton of money, and they're gonna let Ayton's contract play out this way? Wildly stupid.
2748552, Keeping Book happy is the key…

I feel like Utah HAD to pay Gobert and he got somewhat exposed in the playoffs. I don’t think Phoenix will have a hard of a time attracting free agents as Utah.

They were in the Finals last year but is that really a championship “core”? A lot of people thought they made the Finals last year more due to other team’s injuries.

2748554, dude is delusional

non shooting rim running big that barely gets 14 and 12

2748872, GM James Jones said they couldn't agree on number of years, not sure...

who was pushing which way
2748580, espn needs to fire her.
Posted by Reeq, Mon Oct-18-21 11:05 PM
she look too damn good to be on tv everyday.

i like the format of the show tho. its more like nfl live than a complete clone of the jump.

you can tell they actually like working with malika too lol. it felt like they were mad comfortable talking among family.
2748581, Lol

Haha. If Joy Taylor can stay up on the Herd looking killer after Colin had that titties/cities flub, it’s all bets off!

2749020, I've only caught clips but Malika's been better than I thought she'd be
Posted by obsidianchrysalis, Fri Oct-22-21 04:49 PM
She has a lot more energy than she showed as a featured reporter. To me, it didn't seem like a measured personality would work on a daily sports show.

The only critique I have is that the set looks generic. I liked the OG The Jump sets because they seemed more inviting to discussion. But I hope the show, and especially Malika, is successful.
2749024, it seems like for whatever reason current tv sports shows are trending...
Posted by ThaTruth, Fri Oct-22-21 05:09 PM
towards full body shots, its good for some people, not some much for others. Some of the guys on ESPN need to step their shoe games up lol. The days where you sat behind a desk and your bottom half didn't matter seem to be over for now...
2749028, Yeah, I've noticed that too.
Posted by obsidianchrysalis, Fri Oct-22-21 05:56 PM
It's weird because they'll have on a really nice suit and then you look at their shoes. :{

All of them can afford stylists. There's no excuse for them.
2749331, There is something that isn’t right about this show.
Posted by allStah, Tue Oct-26-21 02:52 AM
It’s really awkward at times. From the personalities to the space that they
are in, the show doesn’t have a natural feel to it.

Also, they need to do something about that open desk, or just stick to close-ups.
Since the show has analysts who all differ in height, an open desk will only give an
odd, comical view of those height differences. Seeing legs and feet of some of the
analysts dangling like a punky school kid, makes it hard to take the show seriously.

I’ll stick to Jalen and Jacoby and Scott Van Pelt for my basketball news.

2749547, its just not a good show/format idc how fine Malika is.

2749549, Its new, they're still figuring out...

like I've said before for whatever reason the current trend in sports tv seems to be to get the talent out from behind the desk for more full body shots. I love Perk and Chiney but they may not be the best daily co-hosts I've seen they've had Vince on there before, he's so-so, most of the reporter types seem uncomfortable standing next to athletes so they'll have to find a balance.

2750178, it is a slightly different flow with RJ and Legler...
Posted by ThaTruth, Fri Nov-05-21 03:12 PM
it is funny how they get up from the desk and go to the screen like the guys on TNT
2753234, Malika low key showing off the thickness today
Posted by ThaTruth, Fri Dec-17-21 03:59 PM
2753235, You still watch that silly ass show?
Posted by allStah, Fri Dec-17-21 04:14 PM
I tried. It’s too goofy and silly ....too much shucking and jiving by Perk.

2753249, I’m an NBA fan and Malika is easy on the eyes so yes.
Posted by ThaTruth, Fri Dec-17-21 06:00 PM
2753250, its a good show.
Posted by Reeq, Fri Dec-17-21 06:04 PM
malika, chill vibe, familial atmosphere, etc.

i dont see whats not to like about this show.
2775733, its difficult for me to watch this now. its a really hard listen.
Posted by Reeq, Sun Nov-06-22 11:51 AM
idk why its so grating to me but...

you got malika and her drawn out speaking style (i dont know how to explain it but the pronunciation of everything is really exaggerated).

you got perk just loud and belligerent for no reason at all.

you got 'insider' woj who has like 1 sentence of substance (the actual story headline) and then a bunch of rambling and nothingness to fill the rest of his speaking time.

you got chiney (whose personality i do like) with the loud high pitched voice that can really grind on you.

maybe im getting old but the jump flowed so much smoother and was much quieter lol. the tone was just easier on the ears.

and then nba today only shows insight from like 1 or 2 games/teams (the usual coastal teams every day) then its mostly opinion pieces.

i wanna feel like im being 'caught up' on the world of basketball each day. and this show doesnt do a good job.

honestly...this is the 1st year i have ever watched 'nba gametime' from nba tv. 30 to 60 mins of mostly game wraps ups and stats/analysis. and the personalities are calm and level headed without a bunch of yelling and gimmickry. i really miss content like that.
2775736, Exactly.
Posted by allStah, Sun Nov-06-22 12:38 PM
Chinay( bad spelling) actually is very very informative and would excel in
another format, as well as some of the true beat reporters…

But Perk, Richard and Malika are too silly for me.
2775739, It’s an awful show. Chiney is great but the rest need to get the axe
Posted by BrooklynWHAT, Sun Nov-06-22 01:08 PM
2775813, chiney is the only one I like...
Posted by KnowOne, Mon Nov-07-22 09:12 AM
they need to have her head the show and recast the rest.
2775819, NBA Gametime on NBA TV is definitely a fav, I feel like its more game...
Posted by ThaTruth, Mon Nov-07-22 11:44 AM
coverage and recap and less "analysis". When they do have analysis shows people like Isiah Thomas and Candace Parker are far better to listen too.

ON NBA Today I still prefer Malika over Rachael Nichols. Malika has her rough spots but she is still finding her way in a new role. I can deal with Richard Jefferson when he sticks to analysis but when he tries to be snarky or humorous its annoying. Perk can just go. Some of his country bumbling was amusing at first but its too much on daily basis. I like Chiney and she has grown with the show. I loved Vince Carter the player but I don't really care for him as an analyst or a commentator during games.

I don't really care for Woj or Windhorst. Zach Lowe isn't bad.

I feel like they need some new blood but I don't know who. Most recently retired players made so much money they aren't interested in a real job they have to show up to every day lol.

I feel like all the ESPN "sports talk" shows are struggling. Stephen A and Max Kellerman are annoying together and separate. The NFL show isn't bad when they don't let Dan Orvlasky annoying ass take over and explain why he is smarter than any QB in NFL history.

PTI used to be a favorite but Wilbon and Kornheiser are old and need to be put out to pasture and are just old men yelling at the tv with little insight. Statboy's show that PTI spawned Around The Horn is slightly better but that isn't saying much.

ESPN figured out these shows are cheap to produce especially with people hosting from home during the pandemic and half of them still do.

Peyton and Eli on ESPN2 during MNF isn't bad but in true ESPN fashion they're trying to run that in the ground trying to do the same thing with Stephen A during nba games.

I'd like to see them do more 30 for 30's and films. I thought The Captain about Derek Jeter was cool but strung out over 7 episodes and probably could've been condensed to 4 or 5.

I also hate the way the pandemic made them go silly wilt the dress code. I'm sitting here watching the Get Up with Dan Orvlasky with a sportscoat over a hoodie lol. Greeny isn't bad on The Get Up

As far as basketball commentators the Mike Breen, Mark Jackson, Jeff Van Gundy crew isn't bad. Stan Van Gundy isn't bad but can be overbearing at times. Hubie Brown is the GOAT, Doris Burke is good but can try too hard sometimes. I love Mark "put'em in the weight room" Jones lol
