2747754, Jamal Adams is easily the most overrated safety in football.
Posted by Sofian_Hadi, Thu Oct-07-21 09:26 PM
Dude looks lost when he's actually asked to cover anyone and not blitz
2747760, as far as LB's go I feel like Wagner is slightly overrated, He's very...
Posted by ThaTruth, Thu Oct-07-21 10:24 PM
good but is he HOF good?

I heard someone call him a "HOF'er" and I questioned it but they pointed out he has been to 7 straight Pro Bowls and most LB's with that resume' are in and I had trouble arguing with that...

I mean he's a solid all-around player LB I never thought of him as a "dominant" MLB in vein of a Urlacher, Lewis or Singletary...

Is he better than Zach Thomas?

2747764, Mike Pouncey made the pro bowl last year
Posted by legsdiamond, Fri Oct-08-21 07:31 AM
and he sucked

All Pro is the real deal but Pro Bowls tend to go on name recognition once you made a few regardless of the actual stats and game film.

2747765, 4 pro bowls is not the same as 7 straight and Wagner has 7 All-Pro's...
Posted by ThaTruth, Fri Oct-08-21 07:42 AM
he was dropped to 2nd team one year all the rest first team.

Again I'm not saying he's not a very good player but he doesn't scream HOF to me, he's good at everything but he doesn't seem to dominate at any one thing.
2747766, maybe he's just getting old
Posted by Ashy Achilles, Fri Oct-08-21 07:47 AM
2747770, that’s the thing, though…
Posted by Dstl1, Fri Oct-08-21 07:59 AM
he is good at everything. He’s not just a see ball, get ball guy like a lot of these dudes. He can play the run, drop into coverage or go get the qb. He diagnoses plays and puts other dudes in the right places. And he’s been really good for damn near 10 years. Your, right, though…he is not quite on the level of those three guys you named…but, goodness…look at those names. Those are three God-level LBs.
2747774, RE: that’s the thing, though…

exactly, those are the MLB's that have recently been inducted into the HOF
2747797, I know 4 doesn’t equal 7.. geezus, smh
Posted by legsdiamond, Fri Oct-08-21 03:34 PM
just pointing out that pro bowls aren’t the best barometer for greatness.

2747772, Wagner is elite, probably the best MLB of his era
Posted by will_5198, Fri Oct-08-21 08:35 AM
that said, I was about to make a longer argument but then I looked at the ILB that were actually in the HOF

he is way better than Zach Thomas though
2747841, He’s definitely HOF worthy. He’s built perfectly for the modern NFL
Posted by Mignight Maruder, Sat Oct-09-21 09:13 AM
I’ve followed his career a bit closely bc he was the guy I wanted the Eagles to draft with their 2nd rd pick in 2012. The Eagles chose a highly talented player, Mychal Kemdricks, literally one pick before Seattle selected Wagner. Kendricks flashed at times, but was maybe 1/4 the player Wagner was.

He’s been a perfect fit for the modern game at ILB because he’s exceptionally athletic, has a nose for the ball, and can cover. The only knock you could say against him is that LBs have been a bit devalued in today’s game. That, and he was a bit overshadowed by the other great ILB in his draft class, Luke Keuchly, and his own teammates - Earl Thomas and Richard Sherman.
2747767, he was getting cooked

2747773, Seattle fans go in on him all the time
Posted by will_5198, Fri Oct-08-21 08:36 AM
giving up those firsts and the big contract is not his fault but fairly horrendous
2747777, I had no clue he was the highest paid safety in HISTORY
Posted by Sofian_Hadi, Fri Oct-08-21 09:05 AM
Yikes
2747779, a lot of players today are the highest paid at their position in history

LOL.

i mean, we can wish but uh...our season is dunzo (probably was before the Russ injury anwyays).

so, it'll be an interesting experiment seeing him get another shot to start.

i wonder if we're ringing Cam Newton's phone at all.

as if you needed a reminder that ownership all talk the same way. if Gruden felt comfortable enough to send that to another team's president, it doesn't take much imagination to figure out how everyone at the executive NFL level talks.

2747844, Big test for the Eagles this week.
Posted by Mignight Maruder, Sat Oct-09-21 09:49 AM
I’m trying not to get too up or down on my Eagles this year as I had very low expectations heading into the season. This year is all about Hurts and establishing some building blocks for the future. We’re on track to have 3 top 12 picks in the ‘22 draft. That is pretty insane. I wish it wasn’t Howie making those picks, but it’s still pretty hard to miss on those odds.

So far, I’m higher on Hurts than most. In just 8 career starts, he’s shown a lot. At worst, he can be a very serviceable starting QB in the league. I still need to see him work through his progressions quicker and not be so quick to abandon the pocket. All in all though, I’m confident with him.

I really don’t understand Siriani’s complete lack of regard for the running game. You have two really talented backs in Miles Sanders and Kenny Gainwell. Use them!

On defense, this team has gone to shit. I believe a lot of that is due to her personnel as Howie has whiffed in the draft or has just completely devalued that side of the ball. Fletcher Cox is getting elite $$$ to do nothing at the moment. His performance has taken a precipitous decline in alarming fashion. Fortunately, Javon Hargrove is an absolute beast. Take him and Slay away, and we have a really porous defense. I don’t think there’s any fixes that can be done internally. This is the bed Howie made.

Anyway, I think this should be a good challenge. Yeah, Carolina is 3-1, but talent-wise they shouldn’t be that far ahead of the Eagles as they’re coming off a 5-11 season. Go Birds 🦅!!!
2747959, Javon is by far my favorite new Eagle for various reasons.
Posted by Dr Claw, Sun Oct-10-21 06:45 PM
And good win by the Birds today. I have the same feelings about the team, low expectations and all. Especially the neglect of the running game on offense.

Team needs some defensive hitters big time. Javon was a rare win.
2747936, Jags are just walking down the field on us smh
Posted by BrooklynWHAT, Sun Oct-10-21 01:06 PM
Between last game vs the Jets, watching the Jets/Falcons today and now Jax rollling down the field I might be done with this season man. We ain’t doing anything with this defense.
2747938, my Falcons didn't blow it
Posted by Ray_Snill, Sun Oct-10-21 01:28 PM
this was the game we usually find a way to lose. both starting WRs out, rookie DBs, non-existent pass rush and our knack for making rookie QBs look like HOFers. should have scored at least 33 points today but turnovers kept this game closer than it should have been

Browns defense is crap, but once again we have a Baker Mayfield game where the offense puts up over 40 and they lose.

Officiating was shit. Browns drives stalled on holding calls, yet the "LA" offense (among other teams) get away with so much holding on Myles Garrett I'm shocked he got one of those sacks despite that.

That "defensive" pass interference" where 81 had the jersey of the Browns DB on a critical 3rd down was the worst.

Herbert getting Boody Calls and thus the coronation... shit's disgusting.

Browns got a few breaks, but it's hard to win against officiating gifting your opponent free drives, and your defense not being able to stop a door.

good to see our run game holding up despite missing Montgomery, and I might be tripping, but it almost looks like our O-Line is acting like a fucking O-Line.
2747993, i have my hopes up for the cowboys
Posted by mista k5, Mon Oct-11-21 11:48 AM
this has been the most fun ive had watching them in years. its looking like a well rounded team with great talent in all areas. a lot left to clean up yet they keep finding ways to win convincingly.

10-7 looks like absolute bottom barring major injuries. i think 14-3 is very likely and wouldnt be shocked at better.

whatever the record is i hope it translates to a couple playoff wins.
2747995, lmao at Steeler fans who shitted on me for shitting on Sam Darnold
Posted by legsdiamond, Mon Oct-11-21 01:51 PM
they were hype as hell after the first 3 weeks. Terry Bradshaw said “the Charlotte Panthers have the best QB in their franchise history” after week 3.

An obvious shot at Cam Newton and smelled like racism to me.

and now these people are silent af when I told them don’t be fooled by the first 3 weeks and that easy ass schedule to start the season. Dude is still a shook one and fans are already talking about DeShaun Watson in Carolina next year after 5 games.

Not saying Sam can’t turn things around but..

nah, lemme keep it a buck.

That nigga sorry af with his “lemme do more research” ass
2747998, funny we were just talking about Watson in the groupchat
Posted by BrooklynWHAT, Mon Oct-11-21 03:57 PM
and my boys would cut somebody to see the Panthers win but they do not want him on the team whether he gets cleared or not. so i can't see Tepper trying to do this, given how he got the team in the first place. they'd have to finish like 5-12 and Darnold be ungodly bad

As a Titans fan I'd take him no questions asked. Breh might be a piece of shit but its a lot of POS in sports and they arent top 5 at their position
2748000, ionno, Tepper picked Reid when he was kneeling next to Kaep

i havent watched a single minute of live Lions game action, and probably wont all year except for Thanksgiving bc it will just be on at my moms house regardless

in 50 years hes still gonna be the best QB the team has ever had, and we will all realize that even MAKING the playoffs 3 times surrounded by a constantly rotating cast of itinerant losers was a monumental achievement.
