2747715, October futbol: No Time to Dier
Posted by benny, Thu Oct-07-21 12:11 PM
heard/read a lot of moaning about the international break but tbh I kinda like getting a weekend without club footy, esp when the Nations League is so easy to ignore
2747725, Newcastle fans finally get the Saudi takeover
Posted by BrooklynWHAT, Thu Oct-07-21 01:51 PM
Well guess they are officially relevant again. It was almost them instead of City when that sale happened
2747736, france/belgium is excellent so far.
Posted by BrooklynWHAT, Thu Oct-07-21 03:13 PM
2747737, 2-0 up to 3-2 L. this Belgium era in a nutshell
Posted by BrooklynWHAT, Thu Oct-07-21 03:35 PM
Deschamps really saved his job today
2747739, from a trolling perspective this is optimal
Posted by benny, Thu Oct-07-21 03:39 PM
they've been mad about the '18 WC semi for 3 years, here's a cherry on top of that haterade
2747738, Offside call was kinda of bullshit.
Posted by allStah, Thu Oct-07-21 03:38 PM
You got two players running side by side jostling for position, there
should be a different interpretation with that. That Lukaku goal should
have stood. That should have been the winner.

What a heartbreaking loss. Belgium was the better team. It was the same
way in the World Cup....heartbreakingly coming up short.
2747740, heartbreaking? lmao it's the Nations League man
Posted by benny, Thu Oct-07-21 04:26 PM
2747744, Cup has or had nothing to do with it.
Posted by allStah, Thu Oct-07-21 05:05 PM
It’s about pride and wanting to beat your rival or nemesis. Those players
were going at, so it wasn’t just some national duty match.

Belgium wanted revenge for the WC loss.
2747747, concacaf refs suck so much ass. and no var in qualifiers
Posted by BrooklynWHAT, Thu Oct-07-21 06:57 PM
i dont get why this mess is dependant on the tournament/league. either make the top levels use VAR or dont.
2747750, CONCACAF should be able to afford it
Posted by cgonz00cc, Thu Oct-07-21 07:58 PM
putting a VAR system in one stadium in each country shouldnt be a monumental endeavor
2747751, Dest is a totally different player from last month
Posted by cgonz00cc, Thu Oct-07-21 08:00 PM
Antonee Robinson looking good too, this is clearly the A pairing id say
2747752, im digging Yunus Musah too
Posted by cgonz00cc, Thu Oct-07-21 08:39 PM
2747762, Gavi-mania!
Posted by thejerseytornado, Fri Oct-08-21 06:45 AM
Given how good players look for national teams, big side eye to Koeman still having a job. You have gavi, fdj, pedri, and busi and our midfield gets bossed regularly? Has to be tactics.

Plus, gavi and pedri learning from xavi? Cmon, LaPorta, stop fucking around.

this France team is wild, I would get mad about the reactionary play but it's too damn fun and when Benzema/Pogba are on that level idgaf

2748370, Blame for the second too.

2748371, Watford lost today.
Posted by allStah, Sat Oct-16-21 10:42 AM
2748373, Heavily. Wish LFC had gone a little easier on them.
Posted by Buck, Sat Oct-16-21 10:47 AM
Saw the team selection and thought, man, you couldn't have rotated just a little more, Jurgen?

Hopefully Ranieri gets them headed in the right direction. Tough match to start a tenure with. At Everton next week won't be much better, but Southampton at home after that should get hem sorted.
2748372, Damn, Magilla
Posted by allStah, Sat Oct-16-21 10:44 AM
Villa out here killing shit....

Proving to be better without Grealish.

2748378, Spoke too soon
Posted by allStah, Sat Oct-16-21 11:22 AM
Damn how do you give up 4 goals in the second half?????
2748374, man leave Ole in Leicester and call up Zidane
Posted by BrooklynWHAT, Sat Oct-16-21 10:51 AM
our coaching staff and most of our roster are just pure jackasses mentally.
2748386, Chelsea just got lucky

When they counter, its like they are running from pitbulls. I hope they stay in the EPL.
2748423, they were real fun to watch

2748398, when you weigh all the factors, we have to be the worst team in EPL.
Posted by PROMO, Sat Oct-16-21 05:24 PM
to have the payroll and talent we have and putting out these results?

we're nearly unwatchable. as soon as Leicester tied it I knew what it was.

give the kids a chance or some shit I dunno.
2748432, Why haven't they made the manager change yet?
Posted by Buck, Sun Oct-17-21 10:58 AM
2748468, it's not "the united way"
Posted by BrooklynWHAT, Sun Oct-17-21 03:24 PM
i wouldnt be surprised if Ole is out manager into next season.

i'd see what's up w/ Zidane as I really don't think we need radical tactics. just an actual basic structure.

but hell Conte could get a tune out of these guys even if they aren't all totally fit to his style.
2748509, Yeah.
Posted by Buck, Sun Oct-17-21 09:24 PM
>i'd see what's up w/ Zidane as I really don't think we need
>radical tactics. just an actual basic structure.

Does seem like the plan is "wait around until one of these really good players does something really good." It's weird to watch.
2748519, not "the united way" went out the door when they shanked Moyes 8 mos in
Posted by magilla vanilla, Mon Oct-18-21 12:45 AM
I get they’re trying to get back to that with Ole in charge but woo buddy.
2748527, That moron was lucky to get the 8 months
Posted by BrooklynWHAT, Mon Oct-18-21 08:36 AM
It was obvious from the opening presser he was a grave mistake and we are still paying for it today
2748437, Speaking of Dier, he and Reguilon out here saving lives.
Posted by Buck, Sun Oct-17-21 11:36 AM
Had Marriner stop the match and bring a defibrillator to a fan.
2748466, Everyone was screaming about Salah's goal, but Mane is a SAVAGE
Posted by Castro, Sun Oct-17-21 03:02 PM
no look backheel off a bobbled first touch to score. Watford's goalie was like, DA FUQ!?!?!?!?

2748495, The backheel was from two year ago....here is today's
Posted by Castro, Sun Oct-17-21 06:33 PM
he has this run down to a science and this pass from Salah is ridiculous, left foot, curls it around the defenders right into Mane's path.

Mane has never taken a penalty kick?!?!?!
2748526, RE: Third African player in PL to 100

hmmm maybe he has but hasn't scored them? not sure how that stat works in that sense lol but all his PL goals are in the run of play I guess.
2748540, RE: Third African player in PL to 100
Posted by Castro, Mon Oct-18-21 12:06 PM
NO you were spot on. Hasn't taken a penalty in the PL. Goddammy!!!

2748556, Arteta out. Very fortunate to get a draw, def undeserved
Posted by dillinjah, Mon Oct-18-21 04:35 PM
The team was a complete mess in midfield. It's pathetic they depend that much on a flawed player in Xhaka.
2748557, wonder who goes first between him and Ole
Posted by BrooklynWHAT, Mon Oct-18-21 04:43 PM
2748558, Glazers for sure, tho prolly not till the New Year

2748802, Down 2-0 at home to Atlanta (not saying they're bums) after 29 mins.
Posted by PROMO, Wed Oct-20-21 02:48 PM
I mean, I know everyone is saying that Ole is a company man so he's safe, but...you gotta fire him, right?

This season is quickly heading towards dumpster fire and all Ole had to do is win SOMETHING and we're bottom of the group as it stands, already out of one domestic cup and trending the wrong way the league.

so............???
2748807, clearly we can play like we have some sense when we want
Posted by BrooklynWHAT, Wed Oct-20-21 03:43 PM
We haven’t ran as hard as this second half all season. They quit playing jackass ball

And Atalanta are some bums. No need to flatter them
2748808, "Players: comeback due to inspiring team-talk, tactical brilliance."
Posted by Buck, Wed Oct-20-21 03:44 PM
"I won't play for another manager," said Fernandes.

"The best I've known," said Ronaldo.
2748810, they're lying, FYI.
Posted by PROMO, Wed Oct-20-21 03:50 PM
i mean, they can say that but what...MU fires Ole and Fernandes retires?

LOL.

edit: please understand I'm not coming for Ole with pitchforks and torches. as a MU fan I just want us to be playing like we should be. that's all i care about and i don't care who runs the team more or less as long as that is happening.

2748811, I mean, I did just make all that up....
Posted by Buck, Wed Oct-20-21 03:54 PM
...so in that sense they're lying.
2748812, kind of a PSG-esque performance from Man U
Posted by benny, Wed Oct-20-21 04:04 PM
a lot of nonsense, never really sure what they're trying to do, but it somehow works out in the end
2748814, lmao.
Posted by PROMO, Wed Oct-20-21 04:12 PM
i'm only laughing because that's exactly how i feel after most of our wins.

like, i'll be on the couch going "okay, that worked out."

2749122, Chelsea scored a TD today.
Posted by allStah, Sat Oct-23-21 04:39 PM
Keep your players at home. It’s not
safe for any team in the league this season.

I’m sorry, fellas, for the carnage.

I’m a civil man, and I love all living things, but
this team is a monster.

Hopefully, you guys still have clubs at the end of the season.

2749174, I mean, they don't have any idea what they're doing out there.
Posted by Buck, Sun Oct-24-21 11:43 AM
One thing to get beat by a powerful LFC attack, but you can still exhibit a basic level of competence.
2749173, and you immediately see why Pogba doesnt start today

2749176, Koeman's lack of tactics are infuriating
Posted by thejerseytornado, Sun Oct-24-21 11:57 AM
so many times with the ball, no clear idea how the team would attack and then out of panic puts Pique at CF and, surprise, counter attack scores a second for real madrid.

honestly wouldn't be surprised to see them not even qualify for CL if he gets the full year.

Xavi and Roberto Martinez are the front-runners, apparently. I'd prefer the latter.

2749525, They're saying Xavi's got the job
Posted by Hitokiri, Thu Oct-28-21 08:50 AM
I don't want to put too much faith in him as our "savior" or anything like that. Realistically, he has very little managerial experience. If it's him, I hope he's successful. And at the same time, with all the young talent we have in midfield (De Jong, Pedri, Gavi, Nico, Riqui), the prospect of them learning from him almost has me salivating.
2749533, even if Xavi doesn't succeed, it's so obviously the right choice
Posted by thejerseytornado, Thu Oct-28-21 10:53 AM
1. he's tied to the recent era of success, so he'll get a much longer period to fix things, which the team needs

2. as you say, the strength of the team is the young midfield potential, but Koeman refused to play some, overplayed others and didn't give them clear tactical support to learn on the job. and xavi has to, at least, be good at teaching up barca midfielders given he did it while also playing midfield with them before.

3. his desired style of play fits the talent the team has and he has the credibility to bench high priced but bad performing players and to demand better pressing effots from others.

2749535, Good point re: the midfield
Posted by vik, Thu Oct-28-21 11:26 AM
I just hope we stop making stupid buys that don't fit the squad at all. I'm okay with a few years of mediocrity.

2749641, So: Utd/Spurs predictions?
Posted by Buck, Sat Oct-30-21 09:47 AM
Possibility A: MU bounce back with a confident 3-1 over an overmatched Spurs.

B: MU again go down 2-0 at the half, but fight back for a draw or narrow 3-2.

C: a dire 0-0 until a CR7 wundergoal in the 93rd.

D: Son hat trick. Spurs roll.
2749653, Option A it is. Ole ain't going anywhere.
