You're not asking DJ and Bazemore (or whoever the starting 2 will be) to do anything but be moderately productive and active for 18-22 minutes per game. DJ is a good fit in LA. Lakers are big and long again - and I think DJ is an upgrade from JaVale -- and that's the only kind of role DJ will need to play.

There are so many interchangeable parts to this Laker team. Malik Monk and Kendrick Nunn (currently injured) could also start. Dwight could start. Melo has started a couple of games in pre-season and has played well. There was talk of Ariza starting before he got injured. Dwight & Rondo come off the bench to provide immediate impact as well. And you've still got THT & Ellington (who could also start) on top of that. They've got about 4 guys coming off the bench who are high-quality 6-men on any team. Even Reaves might be able to give some quality minutes. They've got a lot of quality, interchangeable options.

Lakers play a diff. brand of basketball and are big/physical again like they were w/ the '20 Championship squad, but arguably a better version of that. They're built for the playoffs when the game slows down and more half-court sets get run. Formula can work for them - even if it didn't work for the Nets.
