LOL. Messi on a Discotheque of a team.

Anyway, Lukaku is on the way, so you mofos will be kneeling

And you will not get invites this year.....

RIP Aston Villa....

That 6-2 last year could've been 4-4 on another day. This has been absolute domination. Leeds havent had a sniff all day.
2745109, Trevor Chalobah is starting at left CB for Chelsea.
Posted by allStah, Sat Aug-14-21 08:51 AM
Nathanielā€™s younger brother. This is huge. We should have never sold Nate,
but at the time there was log jam at the MF position, and he wanted more PT.

Reece James is on the bench. Per Tuchel : ā€œTrevor has forced his way into
our thinking.ā€

Shittt...That boy might be better than Nate.

Other than that, nothing too unusual about our lineup.

Werner has to prove he can finish this season. If not, there
is no place for him here.

Chelsea v. CP will be on peacock....SMH

this current system frustrates everyone IMO. Really shouldnt be hard in 2021 to make games available on streaming while still having them on cable (thatā€™s what the french channel I subscribe to does, praise the VPN gods). But if these providers cared about users we would know by now
2745122, Itā€™s drives me mad.
Posted by allStah, Sat Aug-14-21 03:17 PM
Iā€™m a minimalist, and pretty much calm with most things.

But this and family members (lol) have a way of making me
agitated.

Also, Iā€™m a tech guy. But my screen just shows Netflix, Amazon and YouTube.
I deleted the rest of the apps from my TV.

Everything else is straight cable.

I know some people who got screwed during the Super Bowl, because they
cut the cord and went with CBSā€™ streaming app. The app experienced issues,
so the streaming kept shutting off.
2745111, Seems like bringing Lukaku back already does that.

Good for Carabao games or something.
2745113, RE: Seems like bringing Lukaku back already does that.
Posted by allStah, Sat Aug-14-21 10:24 AM
He will start regardless I believe. His speed and passing are crazy. Just
canā€™t score.

He will be on the left side of Lukaku, and probably play main striker
when Big Rom is resting.

Havertz is on the bench right now. In an opener.

So many YOUNG ass weapons. Shit is crazy.

Just to fawk with teams I would line up:

Werner - Lukaku- Ziyech

Mount -Havertz-Kante-Pulisic

Rudiger -Christensen- Chalobah

I dare you to stop our attack! Lol Nothing but speed.

2745112, Trevor is a fawking beast!

Posted by magilla vanilla, Sat Aug-14-21 06:52 PM
Bailey was influential from the moment he came on, Traore played like he wanted to make Villa regret spending money on Buendia, and the fightback was at least a minor positive.

We get Dougie back from Olympic duty next week too, which will do wonders for our ability to build play.
2745145, interesting that so many balls are going thru Grealish already

wasted what ended up being maybe city's best opportunity of the match by choosing to go down for a marginal foul near the 18 instead of being through on goal.

what a performance by Spurs.

Posted by BrooklynWHAT, Tue Aug-17-21 03:52 PM
i think a year w/o Sancho doing all the creating will push him out the door there. he looked so frustrated. still an animal though. Reyna is going to have to hit lightspeed on his development to complement Haaland/Reus
2745216, it looked like reyna was sitting deeper in the midfield*

FILTHY goal from Ings. Douglas Luiz came in and settled the whole team down. Jacob Ramsey was fantastic. Great win with Watkins, Bailey and Traore all out.

2745352, itā€™s going to be a similar points haul to last year
Posted by magilla vanilla, Sun Aug-22-21 04:50 PM
But in reverse. I expect weā€™ll be pretty uneven as players find their feet early in the season and then have a hellacious run from like Boxing Day onward. So like 9th on 60 points.

Lukakuā€™s hold up play is that of Drogbaā€™s and Diegoā€™s.

And with the fast, technical play of the attacking players
around him, itā€™s just a matter of picking your poison on
who will score.

Just come on the pitch and assume the position.....meet your
doom and your death.

Lot riding on this. Group stage this year, Madueke's and Gakpo's futures at PSV, and Netherlands (#7) stalking down Portugal (#6) in the FIFA rankings. If/when that flips, the Eredivisie will get 2 autobids to the group stage.

Both Emis are with the Argentine national team for the break despite Red Zone restrictions, so they'll miss the Chelsea game in isolation.

I like Jed Steer as a backup though, even if he is an order of magnitude not the keeper Martinez is. As far as Buendia goes, it's a shame he's going to continue to have a stop-start intro to his time at Villa, but I think we've got the depth to compete between Bailey becoming available, El Goalzi, and Jaden Philogene-Bidace.
2745641, I love it when you cook up them excuses early.

Youā€™re such a proactive guy.
2745707, No excuses. Just don't be surprised when Steer makes Timo cry or something

Anyway, it will be like army ants at a picnic.

Red cards canā€™t even stop us.

2745688, Emerson to Spurs.
Posted by Hitokiri, Tue Aug-31-21 12:48 PM
What the fuck are we even doing right now?
2745702, that wasn't terrible, imo
Posted by thejerseytornado, Tue Aug-31-21 03:27 PM
Dest is so much better offensively and also seemed more willing to make a strategic foul. Emerson's good, but not a huge loss, imo, with Dest there and Minqueza able to play as back up RB(also, considering the forwards we've sold/loaned, I suspect koeman's going to use a 3-5-2 and/or 4-2-3-1 more). the club finances are obviously disasters and not being able to offload couts, umtiti and pjanic meant others needed to go just for finances, sadly.

but this + griez and letting messi go because of finances is a mess. how do you do this business in this order? couldn't you have done this and other moves earlier and kept messi? wtf?

2745759, borderline obscene that PSG can ignore $260M for 1 year
Posted by cgonz00cc, Wed Sep-01-21 04:50 PM
and borderline insane that Real Madrid offered that for a 22 y/o whos going to come for free next year anyways

either PSG is INSANELY principled, or INSANELY rich, or both.

cuz you just gonna let homie walk and NOT get a quarter billion?

must be nice.
2745761, For sure, but what drives Qatar is winning CL *this* year
Posted by dillinjah, Wed Sep-01-21 05:21 PM
Keeping that squad together with Messi on top gives them the best chance at that, obviously.

If there's any justice in the world, they fail to win it again (sorry Benny), and they fail miserably hosting the WC in '22
2745788, nah it's cool, I'm sorta heading to that mindset lately

>If there's any justice in the world, they fail to win it again

I still follow the team and will watch out of morbid curiosity (tho I was out on vacay the last 2 weeks and it was low-key great not watching/listening to any sports), but the more we go full Avengers the less invested I feel. Tbh I've started to watch Paris FC in Ligue 2, the level is clunky at times but it feels more genuine
2745763, Whatā€™s borderline insane is that Real Madrid is offering anything
Posted by allStah, Wed Sep-01-21 05:49 PM
since he can come as a free transfer next season.

2745770, Gotta get in front of the line
Posted by magilla vanilla, Wed Sep-01-21 09:23 PM
Their concern is either Mbappe wins everything this year and loves playing with Messi and Neymar so much he re-signs, or when he hits the open market he gets his head turned by Juve, Liverpool, City, or even Bayern. By acting like they want to buy, they get to sit down with him and lay the groundwork, 5 months before any of those other clubs can (because they sure as shit weren't bidding). The risk is PSG calls their bluff, but they a) don't need the money and b) are desparate to win the Champions League.
2745791, pjanic to besiktas on loan
Posted by thejerseytornado, Thu Sep-02-21 01:39 PM
man, everyone waited barca out and got people for CHEAP knowing how bad barca's situation was this year

(glad pjanic's out. overpaid and at best 5th midfielder on the roster. i hope he does well, always seemed decent just square peg, round hole for this barca)

2745800, So we just did not sign a CDM/deep midfielder at all
Posted by BrooklynWHAT, Thu Sep-02-21 05:26 PM
I guess we are waiting for Rice next year? I think it's already in motion for us to get Haaland

the logic being we apparently have 6 people that can already play that position

never mind the fact that none of them do it at a top level

or the fact that after McT, Fred, Pogba and maaaybe Lindelof at a stretch , I can't imagine who are the other 2 people they think could do it.

but whatever. the plan is clearly to just put the ball in the net a lot. and we are more than capable of doing it. and winning the title this year. and we have the GOAT back. i cant wait to see how this season unfolds.
2745827, US wasn't very inspiring last night
Posted by will_5198, Fri Sep-03-21 08:43 AM
El Salvador is much improved and will be a tough out; I was impressed with them during the Gold Cup (nice comeback against Qatar, really could have tied if not for a barely offsides call, and also nearly drew against Mexico)

got the point, but it was just sloppy kickball for a lot of the game
2745828, I just donā€™t see it with Sargent
Posted by BrooklynWHAT, Fri Sep-03-21 09:21 AM
One of the most average players to every rock the shirt. At least have blazing pace or be a crack shot. Dude is 6/10 at every part of the game
2745830, stands in this line. but, mostly i don't see it w/ Berhalter.
Posted by PROMO, Fri Sep-03-21 10:23 AM
like dude is just a nothing burger as a manager.

yes, he got two trophies this summer. did he do that, or did the players do that. anyone coulda stood on the sidelines and let the kids do all the work.

shit, he didn't even pick the right players for these WCQs.

assuming Pulisic is back for Canada, it will provide some MUCH needed cutting edge you'd have to think.

last night was ugly.
2745838, Remember the name - Carney Chukwuemeka

Kid was a major part of Villa's FA Youth Cup win last season. Was brilliant against Barrow in the League Cup. Started in the 1-1 draw with Brighton and had a decent 60 mins. And now he's captained the England U-19s to a 2-0 win over Italy.

2745946, Anybody (try to) catch that Brasil-Argentina?
Posted by vik, Sun Sep-05-21 05:46 PM
Wild scenes when the Brasilian health officials bum-rushed the show to try to detain/deport the 4 Argentinian players who flew in from the UK.

At least Alves and Messi got to chop it up in the hallway during the shenanigans.
2745969, craziness
Posted by will_5198, Sun Sep-05-21 11:02 PM
why didn't they just pull them from the game before it started? truly bizarre to run on the field after 5 minutes, as if they wanted to make a scene
2745977, that's exactly what it was

2745955, hate to admit, but US lucky to get a point v Canada tonight
Posted by dillinjah, Sun Sep-05-21 09:03 PM

Sargent was a zero as a sub

2746021, Wait are they thinking about this for the Men too?
Posted by upUPNorth, Tue Sep-07-21 08:57 PM
I saw something about them considering it for the Women's World Cup, which everyone is pretty much against too. I get it a little in that case though only because it is so successful and a good way to keep eyes on it and try to grow it if a temporary thing maybe, but the seasons are still busy enough either way as is, and they need to leave room for other things to grow. Like yeah, now that I think about it, it reeks of them just trying to interrupt other competitions, club or countries, from making money lol.
2746024, i hope to god no

https://www.republicworld.com/sports-news/football-news/sergio-busquets-against-biennial-fifa-world-cup-says-players-will-explode.html

"On the World Cup every two years, (the players) have little say on that (decision). We just see the calendar has become busier and busier, and they do not care about the players. They want more Euros, more World Cups, more club World Cups, more league games, more games for every competition. There will be a moment when the players will explode because the games are becoming more and more demanding and we have less time to rest. So it is so difficult to handle as we have seen recently with this pandemic, where some different competitions have clashed. All of this will bring some consequences, so it would be necessary to have a meeting and listen to all the parties."

read the L'Equipe interview where Wenger laid out his arguments and he kept claiming they wanted to do it to "improve football", not for money, and that it wouldn't increase the workload for players. Just unbridled gaslighting from start to finish. Also using the fact that 165 federations were in favor as a claim that it was a democratic move.
2746041, Crazy that Wenger is not only in favor, but the *front man* for it

2746035, McKennie sent back to Italy for being an idiot
Posted by RandomFact, Wed Sep-08-21 12:01 PM
apparently he broke the bubble one night by going out out. next night he had a girl come to the hotel.

no reyna, dest or weston tonight in a borderline must win after the loss at home on sunday.

wonder what it would take for berhalter to get the boot.
2746046, if the US had a second half as bad as the first was
Posted by will_5198, Wed Sep-08-21 11:33 PM
>wonder what it would take for berhalter to get the boot.

that was pitiful. I'm not even a soccer head and it was still upsetting to watch:

- the starting formation
- not being able to string together three passes in a row
- Pulisic running go routes and turning it over amid 4 defenders
- the zone defense after a turnover, where everyone marked a 5-yard circle of grass
- whatever TF Sands, Brooks and Sargent were doing, but it didn't look like soccer

also, McKennie isn't good enough to be acting that selfish. the US survived the first three games; we'll see if they are humbled and Gregg stops getting in their way.
