2740896, I can’t believe people in here are making excuses for Ben Simmons. Posted by allStah, Mon Jun-21-21 01:37 PM
He is a professional NBA player getting paid millions to play the game of basketball, and he is 100 percent responsible for what he can and cannot do on the basketball court.
The PG position is possibly the most important position on the court, because the PG is the main ball handler, and is responsible for directing the offense on the court. So it is almost impossible for a PG to hide any deficiencies that he may have. Either the PG improves on what he cannot do, or another PG is brought in to lead the team and push the offense.
Ben Simmons has a decision to make, either he corrects his shooting incapabilities to become an all-around player, or he continues to be a liability on the court regardless of who he plays for.
Rajon Rondo is now a 40pct 3 point shooter. He was a player who shot 20pct from 3, and was a terrible shooter from midrange as well. But over the years he worked on his shooting so that he could be less of a liability in crunch time situations. No special strategies were created for him, and he didn’t need to be part of a specific lineup. He simplify improved his shooting.
Same thing happened with Jason Kidd...He went from horrific to one of the best 3pt shooters in the league later on in his career.
Simmons has been in the league far too long to be this bad. It’s not cute anymore, and his inability alone is preventing the sixers from getting to the NBA championship.
It’s all on him.
