don't know that the Hawks can get past the Bucks but they've been fun to watch.
2741025, Bucks have often been Bulls North.

But man, I'm rooting for Trae 'n them.
2740976, I feel like the league wants to push D Book to superstar status.

2740982, Seriously that would probably be the best end to the season

in terms of backpedals, head explosions, new takes, roster/offseason recalculations, etc. Lol.

They would have to start talking about Ty Lue as possibly the best coach in the league too.

2740983, That Paul George / Doc Rivers spat a few months ago looks diff now

PG, Bill Simmons, etc.

Doc making a lot of his detractors look good right now.

.510 winning percentage in the playoffs. A lot of people are high right now on the guy Doc just lost to Nate McMillan, he's been coaching about as long as Doc and he had a not so great playoff record coming into this season.

Rick Carlisle who was allowed to "step down" so he could take another job hadn't won a playoff series since he won a title 10 years ago. From what I hear he is not popular among current players so it will be interesting to see where he lands. As a former Celtic it seems like that would be the logical move but after "promoting" Brad Stephens they had indicated that they would hire a coach "of color" but that was before Carlisle was available.
2741010, that playoff percentage screams blown 3-2 leads..lol
Posted by legsdiamond, Tue Jun-22-21 01:42 PM
and the Celtic championship is the only thing keeping him above .500 right now.

the longer he stays, the worse it will get.
2741022, This kind of goes with the game tho:

>the longer he stays, the worse it will get.

Chances are, the longer you're a NBA coach, the "worse" your overall play-off record will be. Guys like Phil Jackson, Riley, and Poppovich are the exceptions rather than the rules. Meanwhile, respected and/or HOF coaches like Wilkens, Nelson, Larry Brown, and George Karl (not in the HOF) either have records right around or below 0.500 in the play-offs.
2741023, basically, the only coaches with a higher winning percentage than Doc...

2741028, Doc is landing with arguably more talented teams though
Posted by Soldado, Tue Jun-22-21 03:50 PM
at this stage in his career.

The CP3 Clippers, Kawhi/PG Clippers, and Embiid/Ben Sixers are pretty stacked.

He's losing to teams that his teams are better than and blowing big game and/or series leads to do it. It's becoming his calling card more than those other coaches you mentioned.

Doc SHOULD still be in his coaching prime right now with the caliber of rosters he's leading.
2741029, more talented teams than Phil, Riley and Popovich?

2741031, More talented teams at this stage in their careers than Pop and Riley.

We see what Pop is working with now. And we know how much mileage he got out of those older core-3 Spurs teams that were less talented than various teams in the West at different points (Warriors, Thunder, etc).

And Riley post-Lakers was squeezing out as much juice as possible with like 1 star, aging veterans, and hard nosed role players.

But I was moreso talking about that 2nd tier of coaches mentioned "outside of" the consensus top tier.

Shit...Larry Brown was winning chips or reaching the finals with undermanned Detroit and Philly teams, Don Nelson was pulling upsets with that We Believe Warriors roster, etc.

Meanwhile Doc is melting down with Top 1-3 rosters in the East/West.

2741036, when did Pop and Riles win most of their playoff games??

Larry Brown has 1 chimp, the same amount as Doc and is barely ahead of him on playoff wins and win percentage. Don Nelson made a conference Finals once.

You the Warriors that recently won 3 of 4? The last team they lost in the playoffs to before that run was Doc Rivers' Clippers. The next year you know who the defending champion Spurs lost to in the first round? Doc Rivers' Clippers.

He lost this year with Embiid and the worst starting point guard in the NBA?

Y'all kill me with these shifting narratives lol
