2738691, Is Sue Bird widely considered the "GOAT" of the women's basketball?
Posted by ThaTruth, Mon May-31-21 09:10 PM
I heard that in a convo a couple months ago and I've seen it recently in a few commercials, I believe she has 4 rings but I hadn't heard many people refer to her as the GOAT until recently...
2738699, I was always under the impression that it was Taurasi but I could see it nm

2738700, I wouldn’t think so…
Posted by Dstl1, Mon May-31-21 10:37 PM
she’s definitely one of the best. I personally would think Cynthia Cooper or Lauren Jackson. Of course you got Lisa Leslie, Cheryl Swoopes, Maya Moore, Diana Tarausi. Definitely gotta put Tamika Catchings up there and of course, Cheryl Miller , even though she retired mad early. Coop would be my pick, though. Maybe I’m just doing more, personal favorite. Four straight Finals MVPs, lol…on a team with Swoopes and Tina Thompson. I’m sure I left off a few names that someone else would consider. Also, Stewie is coming up fast. She’s highly decorated, already.
2738704, My mind immediately goes to Turausi and Leslie

2738712, No

2738714, I am a UCONN fan for life and I say Hell to the No
Posted by Castro, Tue Jun-01-21 08:16 AM
She is a baller and one of the best point guards to suit up, but she might not be the best point guard in UCONN history. She is #6 in assists all time at UCONN.

She is venerated as a winner and deserves it but she is nowhere near the GOAT convo. I can name ten UCONN players off the cuff that are better players, let alone the WNBA.

2738717, Nah. One of the best, and a great career over a long period
Posted by soulfunk, Tue Jun-01-21 08:26 AM
of time. I think she has the most all star appearances ever, since she's been on of the top players in the league for such a long time. But she's never been the league MVP. Meanwhile Lauren Jackson, Leslie, and Swoopes all have 3 MVPs. Bird has 4 chips, but I don't think she was ever the Finals MVP. (Cooper has 4 of those along with 2 league MVPs.)

Posted by Cenario, Mon Sep-13-21 04:03 PM
2746434, look again Eric Wheeler didn't touch her, Bird tripped over her own feet
Posted by ThaTruth, Mon Sep-13-21 06:40 PM
2746456, Bird's right foot clearly hits her leg and then she falls. Come on now.
Posted by Sofian_Hadi, Tue Sep-14-21 08:00 AM
2746457, So that’s Wheeler’s fault?
Posted by ThaTruth, Tue Sep-14-21 08:33 AM
2746465, lol you went from she tripped over her own foot to is that wheeler's fault?
Posted by Cenario, Tue Sep-14-21 11:01 AM

2746464, Yeah, she kicked the side of Erica’s left foot…
Posted by Dstl1, Tue Sep-14-21 10:13 AM
but, it was because of the cross, lol. She got her. If you play long enough, someone’s gonna make you dance. Same way in the men’s game.
2746426, Is this a Sue Bird hate thread?
Posted by PROMO, Mon Sep-13-21 04:15 PM
Just wondering, cuz it seems like it.
2746427, No way you could read the replies and come to that conclusion…
Posted by Dstl1, Mon Sep-13-21 04:33 PM
even the reply to the video of her getting crossed, had her back lol

i'm not talking about you or whomever, i'm talking about the OP.

this whole post is set up as a hate post.

the original premise is a question, that the OP doesn't answer. they don't answer because they don't actually think Bird is the GOAT, and they knew people would come in her going "no way" or worse. he knew the hate would ramp up. allstah, as usual, goes off the deep end, just as the OP intended.

then, to double down, he posts a video of her getting crossed up. when people point out she tripped on the other player's foot, he doubles down. why post the vid? more "proof" to discredit the greatness.

the OP is a known to troll and I see thru his bullshit.

to actually answer the question - she's an all-timer of course but not the GOAT. also i think the OP begins with a false premise - that there's some movement to paint her as the GOAT. don't think that's even a thing - if you asked anyone who knows women's hoops NO ONE would say that.
2746463, Ah, gotcha…
Posted by Dstl1, Tue Sep-14-21 10:08 AM
apologies. I think, like you said…most people recognize her as one of the best, but I don’t know anyone who mentions her as the goat. I watch quite a bit of women’s basketball and I don’t really ever her chatter about it. Only thing I’ve even seen recently is that Carmax commercial where they deliver her car and she tells dude the code to the gate is GOAT.

I clearly stated why I made the post and I am one of the handful of people around here that even make's women's basketball posts.

I know I've clowned you in GD multiple times for stepping out of your lane so I can see how you're trying to make this something its not.
2746466, lol same thought when i first saw this thread lol

2746429, Just more prejudice, UConn bias bull crap
Posted by allStah, Mon Sep-13-21 04:51 PM
Just like leaving Candace off the Olympic team Twice, as
well as leaving the MVP of the league last year off the Olympic
team.

You see this real strong narrative to prop up white former UCONN players
as the face of the league or GOAT status.

And Diana Taurasi got popped for taking PEDs, but they keep that
shit veiled.

2746433, I’m going Cynthia Cooper
Posted by DJR, Mon Sep-13-21 06:07 PM
2746453, ^^^ Cynthia Cooper
Posted by bentagain, Tue Sep-14-21 07:37 AM
First name that popped in my head
I wouldn't argue with Sheryl Swoopes either
Salute to the OGs

Maya Moore
Candace Parker
Lisa Leslie also get a shout

No hate on Sue Bird...but is she better than Taurasi?

Does Bird have an MVP?
2746546, Pamela McGee (Javale's mom) said her and Cheryl Miller
Posted by Boogie Stimuli, Wed Sep-15-21 05:43 PM
were the best in her opinion because they revolutionized the game.
Pamela is a gold medalist and HoF'er herself for anyone unaware.
2746451, Point guard, yes. Player? No one seriously says that.
