That second weekend is just where things get special. Hoping my Orange can do this!

Also, pulling hard for Orange legend Stevie Thompson(and his son) at Oregon St, and Orange legend Jason Hart at USC. Can’t wait to settle in tomorrow afternoon.

R.I.P. Oscar Frayer, Grand Canyon player who died on Tuesday. Don’t know why this hit me so hard. Guess it’s the age. I felt like a Superman when I was 23. Also, having a son about to turn 20, you want to see these young men grow and make their mark on the world, He was just getting started, man. His sister and another passenger were also killed. Life is wild. He was just playing in the NCAA tournament, last weekend. They win and he’s not even where he was, when the accident happened. Rest well, young man.

2734412, Styles make fights.
Posted by allStah, Sat Mar-27-21 03:55 PM
The more I watch this game, the more I realize how much of an Achilles
Heel Cockburn was on defense.

Beavers got bigs that can move on both sides, and Loyola is struggling with it.

Anyway everyone was on Loyola’s -7, and of course it got beaten.

So that talk of Loyola should have been a top 4 seed is dead...just a matter
of styles

Pac 12 still eating.

2734453, He can't defend at *all*... but his pull-up shooting is elite.
Posted by Frank Longo, Sun Mar-28-21 12:28 PM
Like, even by NBA standards, he's an incredible pull-up shooter.

I don't really know how NBA teams will use someone who can't begin to defend at this level, let alone the next... but taking him end of the second round makes sense to me, tbh. Just to see what he can do.
2734467, JH and the staff rockin them Michigan 5s

2734533, Uconn women lucky as hell tonight
Posted by BrooklynWHAT, Mon Mar-29-21 07:41 PM
Baylor was bout to get them out of there, the national DPOY goes down w/ a hammy injury, Uconn goes on like a 19-0 run and now they're up 7.
Paige cooking

sidenote: I think I am in love w/ Dijonai Carrington on Baylor lol.

sidenote 2: they dont really call shit in the womens game. the refs i mean
2734534, yeah if DiDi Richards doesn't get hurt its a wrap, I still think Baylor...
Posted by ThaTruth, Mon Mar-29-21 08:13 PM
could've came up with a better play at the end
2734594, that injury absolutely changed everything. They would have
Posted by Castro, Tue Mar-30-21 09:07 PM
shut the door within two or three possessions if she doesn't get hurt.

Carrington was definitely fouled. The intensity of the game was such that there were a couple of other calls like that, but based on what they were calling on UCONN's end, they had to call that and they didn't.

That said, this was probably the best college game I have watched all year, men or women.
2734536, Phi Slamma Jamma is back!!

2734565, Bruce Pearl and Kelvin Sampson in back-to-back Final Fours
Posted by will_5198, Tue Mar-30-21 12:30 PM
there is really no reason *not* to run foul of the NCAA, right? take a year off doing TV and get right back in there!
2734569, To be fair to Sampson...
Posted by Frank Longo, Tue Mar-30-21 01:08 PM
... his infraction then is now legal and commonplace.

Part of the reason the NCAA’s punishments are so stupid: unless it’s something blatant like bag dropping or telling people to lie under oath, odds are it could be common practice years down the line, in which case those punishments and “voided wins” feel needlessly harsh.
2734584, USC cant even dribble against Gonzaga lmaooooo
Posted by BrooklynWHAT, Tue Mar-30-21 06:33 PM
6 mins in ive seen Gonzaga players legit just snatch it out of USC hands 3 times. and im not watching it all that hard either.

17-4 so far
2734585, USC shook
Posted by Beezo, Tue Mar-30-21 06:38 PM
2734589, Seems like no matter what USC does...
Posted by Dstl1, Tue Mar-30-21 07:48 PM
they’re down by 19.
2734591, Zags are now 11-0 in Tier A games. 10 won by double digits.
Posted by Frank Longo, Tue Mar-30-21 08:22 PM
The only time they didn't win by double digits was against a Hall of Fame coach... and with their best NBA prospect injured for the whole first half.
2734592, They are efficiently kickin ass. This game was child's play
Posted by Beezo, Tue Mar-30-21 08:26 PM
If they're gonna win one this is the year.
2734595, UCLA doing better than I expected so far tonight
Posted by BrooklynWHAT, Tue Mar-30-21 09:41 PM
2734596, Michigan has played too poorly to only be down 4
Posted by cgonz00cc, Tue Mar-30-21 10:02 PM
and i have to assume Wagner is coming in to guard Juzang. everything changed after his second foul.
2734597, Eli Brooks played for my HS’s biggest rival. Dude is a class act.
Posted by Mignight Maruder, Tue Mar-30-21 10:30 PM
Really nice to see him get his shine on at Michigan after putting in so much hard work over the years. Kinda funny to hear commenters say he may not be physically gifted when he was an absolute phenom in high school. He’s got a high basketball IQ (father was a coach) and incredible work ethic.
2734598, They bumpin

Juwon Howard will definitely get to the final four next year though.

2734605, Gonzaga is gonna blow the doors off UCLA
Posted by BrooklynWHAT, Tue Mar-30-21 11:05 PM

2734606, missed 8 shots in a row that would have won or tied
Posted by cgonz00cc, Tue Mar-30-21 11:24 PM
15 turnovers

not gonna win many games that way. i was sure Smith's 3 was going in tho, no contest whatsoever and hes a total pull-up shooter. 3 missed pairs of FTs to go with that.

thats an L vs Nebraska, much less the 4th round of the tournament
2734607, also took Wagner's worst game of the season.
Posted by Frank Longo, Tue Mar-30-21 11:25 PM
I didn't watch every Michigan game this year, but I have to think that was his worst. He had some clean looks too.
2734608, Wagner strangely disappears at times...sometimes for an

entire game offensively. His defense is consistent. But he gets really hesitant at times until he remembers he’s a matchup nightmare because of his length and that he can get to the rim at will.
2734614, i hate his tendency to pump fake at late closeouts

checklist - it's not even a real pump fake, it's like he was actually going to shoot the 3 but his brain stops him like "you ain't gonna hit that, pull it back and drive for a lazy midrange or pass it to a real G"

3 favorites and a dog.

Committee got it right.
2734615, Hate the Zags but they put on a clinic last night.
Posted by legsdiamond, Wed Mar-31-21 07:56 AM
I don’t see how they lose but UCLA has been scrappy af this tourney.

I’m rooting for anyone but the Zags.
2734617, why did Juwan put his season in the hands of Mo Wagner's little brother...
Posted by ThaTruth, Wed Mar-31-21 09:11 AM
twice?
2734619, because he's their best player, by a lot
Posted by cgonz00cc, Wed Mar-31-21 09:29 AM
and if you remember correctly, in between those shots from Wagner, Mike Smith had an unbelievably good look off a pullup where the defender had dove towards the rim

AND eli brooks collected wagner's and put up a weird rushed reverse that he didnt have to put up that way

AND Dickinson missed a bunny

in short, gtfoh lol
2734649, He really really shit the bed though
Posted by guru0509, Wed Mar-31-21 02:57 PM
That airball was an ill advised shot and it was ugly as fuck
2734662, wide open staring down the barrel?
Posted by cgonz00cc, Wed Mar-31-21 04:40 PM
some teams base their whole offense around getting that look

he shot terribly, and that was a terrible miss, but he had to take it. any of them would have had to take that shot if they found themselves that open in spot on the floor.
2734670, all you needed was an easy two..but yea, this is a new age
Posted by guru0509, Wed Mar-31-21 05:18 PM

2734657, That L isn't on Juwan. We missed so many shots and free
Posted by soulfunk, Wed Mar-31-21 04:15 PM
throws down the stretch of that game it was embarrassing. That's on the players. Juwan had them in a position to win even though they weren't playing well.
2734672, shots at the rim and in the midrange for each team:
Posted by cgonz00cc, Wed Mar-31-21 05:42 PM
UCLA at rim: 6/9
Michigan at rim: 13/25
UCLA midrange: 12/32
Michigan midrange: 4/15

aside from the ball actually going or not going in the hoop, thats a winning game plan
2734674, Should've went to Brooks

Baylor is a fucking dump in comparison . Open the vaults back up the brinks truck and pry him away . But we will probably hire some corny fuckface Midwestern mid major coach with zero accolades .

Freaking refs. Clean defense and strips by UCLA getting
called for fouls.

UCLA was up by 6 and had momentum, and then the whistles come out.

Will they let these kids play? Put the whistle in the pockets and let them play.
