2731742, 2021 NFL predictions post
Posted by calij81, Sun Feb-07-21 09:55 PM
Let’s get it all on record for the upcoming season. I want receipts!

Goff takes the Lions to playoffs and Stafford doesn’t get the Rams to the playoffs.

Chargers win the AFC West.

Brady still making Doc MAD and goes to the playoffs.

NFC East division winner will have a losing record again (this assumes WFT doesn’t trade for Watson or some other established QB)

What do you got?
2731798, I like that Goff pick.
Posted by Dr Claw, Sun Feb-07-21 11:12 PM
that really depends if Detroit doesn't... Detroit, and that track record has not been good for a long time

My picks for 2021:

AFC North: BROWNS*
AFC East: BILLS
AFC South: COLTS
AFC West: CHIEFS**

* - contingent on Defense
** - I also think the Chargers MIGHT sneak in there. Chiefs might be back on their bullshit after this season.

Wild card teams: Ravens*, Chargers**, Titans

NFC North: Packers*
NFC East: Giants**
NFC South: AINTS
NFC West: Rams

Wild Card Teams: Bears*, Cardinals, Football Team**

The Eagles are in reboot mode and while the Cowboys have the Dak matter hanging in the air.... Mike McCarthy makes me not want to choose them. He is the one coach that might be worse than Jason fuckin Garrett.

Speaking of Garrett!! I am actually BULLISH on the Giants!
Yes it's true. The New York Giants have their new "Eli", Saquon is coming back, their front 7 is actually a problem, and basically all they need is to make sure that O-Line and WR corps is in order.

Even further hot take: they end up being the team that kicks Boody's Bucs out of playoff contention.

The Chargers will be the other team that will shock the world in a similar manner. Either they trounce the Chiefs in a hangover year, or they keep pace behind them. Herbert is the reason. They lucked up like shit getting a Rivers replacement so soon, and as effective.

Something tells me another team in the NFC South, either the Falcons, or the Panthers are going to do a "world shock".

Teams I am not high on:

The Steelers. Ben is coming back and I still think they're on a trajectory that the Eagles have been forced into.

The Seahawks. I think there's gonna be some turnover there that puts them in the mid-tier. But you never know. NFC West is a problem.

49ers: Unless they change QBs. Would be hilarious af if they go to the

Texans: They tradin' Deshaun and they're going to be ass.

There are a lot of teams in or near-rebuild mode like the Eagles, Bengals, Raiders, Donkeys, etc.

I do like the Washington Football Team and if they don't get in this QB sweepstakes, they can run with Heinicke and Smith and see how it goes.

2021 will be the End of Boody, hopefully. Save us all, Danny Dimes.

Just take the night off man. You say a version of this every year. Every week actually.

AFC West: Chiefs
AFC South: Titans
AFC East: Dolphins
AFC North: Browns
NFC West: Cardinals
NFC South: Bucs
NFC East: Cowboys
NFC North: Packers

AFC Wildcard: Chargers, Bills, Ravens
NFC Wildcard: Rams, Vikings, Seahawks
MVP: Kyler Murray
ROY: Trevor Lawrence
DPOY: Aaron Donald

Kyler Murray, despite his head coaches terrible decision making, breaks more records and carries the veterans to the playoffs and a division win.

2745123, the Lions are gonna suck
Posted by cgonz00cc, Sat Aug-14-21 03:47 PM
even entertaining thoughts of otherwise is a foolish endeavor
2745150, I’ve phased them out of sports memory
Posted by guru0509, Sun Aug-15-21 04:05 PM
Barry and Megatron had some nice moments but that’s it .

we'll see if they keep me interested past week 6/7
2745141, Bucs will be the 1st team to successfully defend the title of this era...
Posted by CyrenYoung, Sun Aug-15-21 09:49 AM
..giving Brady bookends to a stellar career. He'll win 2021 MVP, piss off Doc, and then set out to do what no one else has ever done is NFL history:

3-peat and ride off into the sunset as the GOAT.

2745142, it's looking spooky fr. yall got a complete team
Posted by BrooklynWHAT, Sun Aug-15-21 10:07 AM
2745143, On paper, for sure. Def got luck WRT injuries last year
Posted by dillinjah, Sun Aug-15-21 10:17 AM
This season cannot start fast enough
2745147, Best thing about that SB run is how they handled adversity...
Posted by CyrenYoung, Sun Aug-15-21 11:56 AM
..From injuries to tough losses, the team never lost confidence (or sight of their goal).

Tampa ground out some gut-wrenching wins en route to a historic playoff run on the road, only to win it all at home against the defending SB champion Kansas City Chiefs. You can't write a better script, that's an academy award winning performance.

If they somehow manage to remain relatively healthy, continue building chemistry, carrying that momentum?.. SHIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIiiiiiiiiit © Clay Davis

..and miles to go before i sleep...
2745411, Provided Brady stays healthy, I expect 13-4. 14-3 @ best
Posted by dillinjah, Tue Aug-24-21 05:07 PM
If Brady gets hurt, they still have enough to be 10-7 IMO, even with gabbert ( yeah, I know)

From there, who knows. I obviously like their chances to repeat with a healthy Brady, and defense.
2745210, *stands in this line*
Posted by Marbles, Tue Aug-17-21 01:05 PM

I think the rest of the NFC South is gonna be down his year. It won't be a breeze but the Bucs have a lot of momentum from last season with everyone coming back.

If they can stay healthy, there's no one they can't beat.
2745372, I completely forgot OJ Howard is back as well. Crazy stacked
Posted by Sofian_Hadi, Mon Aug-23-21 12:12 PM
DR CLAW would lose his fucking mind.
2745146, Browns 7-9, Cards 8-8
Posted by Kira, Sun Aug-15-21 11:04 AM
Taysom Hill is overrated as shit but starts due to inconsistency from Jameis.

Baker excels because he has to but gets injured and we struggle.

Big Ben is washed up, Steelers flame out, and Tomlin takes the blame again.

Texans surprise a few teams and win upwards of five games. Deshaun to the Eagles.

Tim Tebow does not make the Jags roster and if he does it's the practice squad.

Bucs don't repeat but get close meaning a first or second round exit or lose the Super Bowl.

Jordan Love starts at least one game.

One of the Raiders backup QBs enters agame.

Zach Wilson does ok, Trevor Lawrence shocks people.

Vikes go max 8-8 despite their anti vax qb.

Sam Darnold gets injured and the pj walker era begins.
2745206, Vikings 8-9
Posted by Mack, Tue Aug-17-21 11:34 AM
hopefully the Mike Zimmer era comes to an end as does the Kirk Cousins era.
2745207, These WRs continue to make the leap: CeeDee, Terry McLaurin and Aiyuk
Posted by Amritsar, Tue Aug-17-21 11:59 AM
Okay Aiyuk is a little wishful thinking

But with dak back, CeeDee will continue to be scary from the slot. Speaking of scary, Scarrence Terrence got a serviceable QB now. Only good things from here with his targets
2745326, Colts are screwed
Posted by will_5198, Sat Aug-21-21 09:11 PM
went all in on Wentz and he hurt himself practicing

Jacob Eason never had it and never will

Ehlinger tries hard but he doesn't have starting NFL talent
2745640, Wentz isn't even vaccinated
Posted by will_5198, Mon Aug-30-21 08:06 PM
doesn't seem like TY Hilton or Quenton Nelson are vaccinated either

Colts have one of the lowest vaccination rates in the NFL

gonna be a long year for them
2745360, Steelers 12-5.. 11-6 at the worst.
Posted by legsdiamond, Mon Aug-23-21 08:35 AM
Najee will be rookie of the year on offense.

Ben plays well enough to keep fucking playing for another year if he wants

TJ Watt is able to get the FO to change their contract structure but the money will still be funny.
2745373, Dwayne Haskins will be the heir apparent to Big Ben,
Posted by guru0509, Mon Aug-23-21 12:31 PM
and he will do great things under Tomlin.

btw Von Miller had some nice things to say about the best CFB program in the country at producing pros*, not winning championships. We're like Kentucky basketball in that regard.

--------------------------------

"It should be noteworthy that Miller decided to go out of his way to single out what he sees from former Ohio State players in the league. He was specifically asked about Jonathon Cooper after preseason practice on Thursday and went into a self-acting infomercial and endorsement for all things Ohio State.

“These Ohio State guys can play some football,” Miller said during his post-practice media press conference Thursday. “They really can. I’m an Aggie and I love Texas A&M. I bleed maroon, but these Ohio State guys can play football. You look around the league, there are so many big-time Ohio State guys out here. We have ‘Coop’, we have Dre’Mont, and we have (OLB) Baron (Browning). I was like, ‘These guys were on the same team? No wonder why they were going to the championship playoffs and national championships and doing all this stuff.

“He (Cooper) just has that culture. He’s been playing football his whole entire life. He’s natural at it and he’s a tough guy. (He has a) very, very high motor (and is) very, very strong. He just gets it. He gets it at an early age. He’s shedding guys. I don’t like giving them coaching tips because he’s doing such a great job. Whenever you give him any type of tip or any type of pointer, he picks it up right away. That’s the quality of a great player. You can coach him one time and you’re not coaching him on the same thing over and over and over. He just gets it. A lot of respect to those Ohio State guys. They play some big-time football over there.”
2745376, do you believe that based on evidence or just hope for that
Posted by Tiger Woods, Mon Aug-23-21 03:11 PM
2745378, mostly hope, since he barely played in the pre season
Posted by guru0509, Mon Aug-23-21 03:27 PM
i refuse to believe rudolph is better than him
2745404, Rudolph is not better....
Posted by blueeclipse, Tue Aug-24-21 03:08 PM
Mason gives me real 1980's Steelers QB vibes. Hell no to that. He had his chance in 2019. He is what he is. Can't move in the pocket well. Slow through his progressions. Throws a nice deep ball but has limited arm strength to throw to the sidelines and across the far hash. He's a decent backup QB.....that's it.

Haskins is much more talented physically and if he can get it together mentally then the Steelers have action. They're bringing him along slowly and doing the right thing but everyone in Pittsburgh knows that Haskins has way more potential. The players have been saying it without blowing up Mason too much. Ben has came out and gushed over Haskins so you know what he thinks about it.
2745408, Haskins has a cannon
Posted by legsdiamond, Tue Aug-24-21 03:39 PM
Rudolph has a nice deep ball but he is too afraid to throw that shit.

I hate that dude but there is no way Haskins wins the backup role this year.

Dobbs also beat Rudolph out his first year in Pittsburgh so this isn’t anything new. We don’t rush guys like Haskins if we don’t have to

2745416, I've watched the Skins my whole life...
Posted by Tiger Woods, Wed Aug-25-21 11:24 AM

I think Dwayne Haskins is the worst QB we ever started. And that's not even saying anything for how wildly immature he is off the field

(still: https://www.cbssports.com/nfl/news/steelers-dwayne-haskins-injured-by-wife-in-alleged-domestic-violence-altercation-in-las-vegas/)
2745417, No shade but I don’t give a shit about a Washington fans evaluation
Posted by legsdiamond, Wed Aug-25-21 11:38 AM
of a young Black QB.

We do things different in Pittsburgh and Tomlin is the perfect HC to mentor Haskins on and off the field.

I hope we keep him around

2745423, +1
Posted by guru0509, Wed Aug-25-21 12:10 PM
Ron Rivera is a shitty coach.

It’s a shit franchise with shit ownership. Drafted by an owner for a coach on the chopping block.

He was set up for failure .

2745424, WFT Culture < Steelers Culture
Posted by blueeclipse, Wed Aug-25-21 12:20 PM
For you to say that this dude is the worst young QB you've seen in Washington must mean you are under 30. Or maybe 20. LOL.

Patrick Ramsey was worse man. That wasn't that long ago.

I was hella skeptical of Haskins coming in just based on what was coming out of Washington about him but for the most part he has been doing the right things so far in Pittsburgh.

2745400, Etienne will miss the whole season with an injury

2745430, I'm predicting shenanigans at the QB position for The Bears.
Posted by spades, Wed Aug-25-21 01:15 PM
No way do I believe they aren't going to try to sneak Fields in there as good as the kid has been looking pre season.
2745639, Doubling down on this one.
Posted by spades, Mon Aug-30-21 07:55 PM
Fields looks GREAT, and he's putting up better stats than Dalton. With a little seasoning the kid could be a beast.
2745539, Whatever the opposite of fantastic is, Dwayne Haskins was that last night
Posted by Tiger Woods, Sat Aug-28-21 07:15 AM
2745544, which is why he will sit and watch this year
Posted by legsdiamond, Sat Aug-28-21 10:38 AM
No need to rush him.

Plus he was playing against their starting D and we sat most of our starters.

Mac 10 to start the season.
2745653, Did not expect this.. wonder if not being vaccinated played a part
Posted by legsdiamond, Tue Aug-31-21 09:50 AM
I know coaches are getting angry at these starting QB’s who ate putting seasons at risk with their antivaxx bullshit.

Wentz
Cousins
Cam
Darnold

all these QB’s are going to miss games due to contact tracing this year.
2745689, Me neither but the anti-vax DEF has something to do with it.
Posted by spades, Tue Aug-31-21 01:05 PM
These teams are billion dollar industries. They are NOT playing.
2745804, Tampa Bay reached 100% vaccination of players. (swipe)
Posted by Sofian_Hadi, Thu Sep-02-21 08:30 PM
Bucs and Falcons are only two teams 100% vaccinated. Them boys are not playing that dumb "need more research" shit. They repeating.

https://boston.cbslocal.com/2021/09/02/tom-brady-vaccinated-bruce-arians-buccaneers-100-percent/
2745805, starts with Brady
Posted by will_5198, Thu Sep-02-21 08:40 PM
he seems like an annoying holistic anti-vax guy, but he isn't gonna let anything get in the way of him winning

meanwhile, a bunch of other notable QBs are sabotaging their own teams
2745806, Yeah. Only reason Fournette got it was Brady, allegedly.
Posted by dillinjah, Thu Sep-02-21 08:59 PM

Maybe Arians & Leftwich had some impact too. Still
2745807, That Mamba Vaccine Mentality *chef's kiss*

2747195, Colts: 0-3
Posted by will_5198, Sun Sep-26-21 06:29 PM
Ballard and Irsay need to swallow their pride and let this team get the top ten pick they are headed towards

funny how the Colts' o-line is now allowing twice as many sacks this year (and remember in 2020 they played with the last remains of Philip Rivers)

while the Eagles o-line are allowing half as many sacks this season, when they were the worst in the NFL in 2020

I wonder if there is a non-rhythm-throwing, hero-ball on 2nd-and-3, non-checkdown-taking correlation
2747196, oh, BTW for Indy to keep their pick they need to bench Wentz
Posted by will_5198, Sun Sep-26-21 06:36 PM
because if he plays over 3/4 the snaps this season, it's Philly's pick

if Reich and Ballard let that happen they should resign at the end of the year
