That call makes no sense to me.

Baker fumbles the ball backwards, ball never touches the ground. Hunt recovers the ball and gets the first down. Shouldn’t that be perceived as a lateral?
The ball never touched the ground so it is still in the air. How is that different from a handoff’?


“A fumbled ball may be recovered and advanced by either team (except, in American football, after the two-minute warning in either half or 4th down, when the fumbling player is the only offensive player allowed to advance the ball, otherwise the ball is ruled dead at the spot of recovery if the ball bounces backwards or spotted at the point of the fumble if the ball travels forward).”

Dumbest shit ever...rule changes with 2 mins left in the game.

But even with that the ball never hit the ground...so how is it even seen as a fumble.
