When football and basketball came along providing an opportunity for young players to make millions in a short period of time, baseball lost the black athlete as well as a lot of white athletes. No black athlete is going to go play a PROFESSIONAL sport where it will take years before they get a chance to even make a simple living, let alone have to pay for their own equipment and travel expenses?

Plus the fact that MLB baseball has cheap or free access to Caribbean baseball leagues, where they can easily acquire the services of Latin American baseball players, MLB could totally eradicate their farm system and it would not hurt baseball not one bit.
And they also have access to Asian baseball players.

They’ll probably still get a few black athletes who come from financially stable homes, who can afford to play for free until they are called up to the majors. Those will be young black athletes who truly love the sport and are dedicated to becoming ball players. But for the majority of black athletes, who come from impoverished backgrounds, who need money ASAP to help their families and communities, forget about it ....forever.

And especially in this time of civil injustice and with black communities uprising, athletes will not play for white organizations for free.
