Posted by allStah, Sat Dec-19-20 04:04 AM
So Notre Dame is a 10 point underdog against Clemson? Wow.

I’m sure there are going to be some bullshit calls like in last year’s Ohio Sate game.
I’m sure of if it.

But Notre Dame should be able to over come it. They have the best blocking RB and TE in all of college, plus a huge OL.

Notre Dame by a TD.

OSU over NW
2727945, as much as I want Clemson to lose,
Posted by tariqhu, Sat Dec-19-20 09:26 AM
they will smash ND. they barely beat Clemson with a back up qb and a top line backer out.

and ROLL TIDE!
2727953, if clemson loses it would be hilarious to watch dabo politic
Posted by 3xKrazy, Sat Dec-19-20 10:25 AM
for a 2 loss clemson team into the playoffs.

but he has war crimes to pay for against osu in the first round. I need clemson to win today.
2727963, No Olave and 22 other players
Posted by allStah, Sat Dec-19-20 03:29 PM
OSU still doing its thing.

Pastor Sermon putting on a clinic against a Northwestern defense.

This dude has 300 yards, and I haven’t seen anything like this since Reggie Bush’s close to 600 all purpose yards against Fresno State.

He just broke George’s record!

Bring on BUM ass Alabama!
2727966, yeesh that was ugly
Posted by 3xKrazy, Sat Dec-19-20 04:07 PM
i think the trials and tribulations of covid life finally caught up to this team. not optimistic about playing bama that's for sure.

sermon doing his best biakabutaka impression out there.
2727968, also how in the fuck has NW had *0* covid tests this year?
Posted by 3xKrazy, Sat Dec-19-20 04:13 PM
if it were bama/osu reporting 0 positives everyone would think they were covering it up
2727971, RE: also how in the fuck has NW had *0* covid tests this year?
Posted by allStah, Sat Dec-19-20 04:20 PM
Pat didn’t play that shit....very strict.
2727972, i can buy NW having 0 tests
Posted by BrooklynWHAT, Sat Dec-19-20 04:23 PM
2727976, so they're just locking shit down better than everyone else?
Posted by 3xKrazy, Sat Dec-19-20 05:02 PM
if so, props to them.

and not sure wtf osu is doing in that regard...but at this point I have zero confidence they show up to the playoffs healthy.
2727977, Isn’t northwestern a small school in terms of students?
Posted by calij81, Sat Dec-19-20 05:09 PM
Also, I don’t believe northwestern is known for its party, social and Greek scene.

I can believe northwestern having few, if any Covid issues.
2727979, for the record im not challenging the validity of their positivity rate
Posted by 3xKrazy, Sat Dec-19-20 05:11 PM
merely jealous

>I can believe northwestern having few, if any Covid issues.
2727980, Yeah, I agree. I’m jealous as well but congrats to them
Posted by calij81, Sat Dec-19-20 05:18 PM
I agree with you that people would be calling it a cover up if Bama, OSU or Clemson went the whole season without any Covid cases.
2727982, RE: Isn’t northwestern a small school in terms of students?
Posted by allStah, Sat Dec-19-20 05:41 PM
Northwestern is a private high academic university. They party in Evanston, but they are also responsible and organized.

But it’s more about Pat Fitzgerald being on top of things as a coach.
2727984, So it is a small private school. I’m sure northwestern is the smallest
Posted by calij81, Sat Dec-19-20 05:44 PM
Big Ten school in terms of campus size and number of students. Plus, I am sure northwestern went mostly virtual learning. That, plus their coach keeping a tight lid on things kept their numbers to 0.
2727986, RE: So it is a small private school. I’m sure northwestern is the smallest
Posted by allStah, Sat Dec-19-20 06:00 PM
and Ohio State went mostly virtual like all big ten schools did. Remember the big ten didn’t start college football with some of the other conferences. Students have been taking classes online.

Big or small, Northwestern and the state of Illinois have been very strict with Covid 19 protocols. We were one of the first if not the first major state to ban indoor dining and non-essential work, as well as limiting the population of gatherings.

Covid didn’t get out of hand with Illinois based universities because of proper governing regarding Covid.

States like California just recently implemented more restrictions due to high positivity numbers.
2727990, I don't think you need to be at a school with 50k students
Posted by 3xKrazy, Sat Dec-19-20 07:07 PM
for there to be ample opportunity for virus spread.

one house party is all it takes.
2727995, It’s the Law of Stupidity. More students means more opportunities for
Posted by calij81, Sat Dec-19-20 08:46 PM
stupidity to occur and for players to fuck up.
2728954, Yeah, the Northwestern mantra
Posted by DeepAztheRoot, Sat Jan-02-21 11:37 AM
You might beat us in football, but we will be your boss later.
2728007, the whole school has only had 500 cases

2727970, Irish on the board first.
Posted by allStah, Sat Dec-19-20 04:18 PM
That online is mean.

Let’s go. Nice drive.
2727973, 11 left on the field so far for ND. Clemson fortunate
Posted by BrooklynWHAT, Sat Dec-19-20 04:33 PM
2727974, Irish getting what they want but they can’t settle for FGs.
Posted by allStah, Sat Dec-19-20 04:42 PM
Should be 14-7 Irish.

That’s okay.

Keeping pushing. Let’s go.
2727975, these boys hit 7s w/ trevor

2727981, RE: these boys hit 7s w/ trevor
Posted by allStah, Sat Dec-19-20 05:35 PM
Yeah, I would say that’s the difference. Notre Dame not capitalizing on their 3 red zone opportunities.

- fg
-missed fg
-turnover on downs.
2727978, Clemson about to death roll Notre Dame
Posted by calij81, Sat Dec-19-20 05:10 PM
Kelly might not have to worry about boycotting the playoffs once this beat down is complete.

Dabo is a dick, so he will run up the score.
2727983, you know he wants to put 60 on ND
Posted by legsdiamond, Sat Dec-19-20 05:41 PM
2727985, Yeah, Dabo is a dick. He is going for 60
Posted by calij81, Sat Dec-19-20 05:45 PM
2727987, Okay. It’s over now. And the committee is going to fock ND
Posted by allStah, Sat Dec-19-20 06:22 PM
There is still OSU. So it looks like a rematch of last year.

2727991, I still think ND is in. they didn't get crushed so i think they're ok
Posted by 3xKrazy, Sat Dec-19-20 08:15 PM
and A&M's claim to the playoffs is what exactly?
2727992, with empty ass stadiums I have no idea if they are in or not
Posted by legsdiamond, Sat Dec-19-20 08:38 PM
they got stomped

2727994, ND got beat thoroughly. That game was over at halftime
Posted by calij81, Sat Dec-19-20 08:45 PM
aTm will claim SEC and only loss to Bama.

In all honesty, I would give Bama a bye and have OSU and Clemson play but I guess I would be okay and prefer watching ND get destroyed by Bama rather than watch aTm get beat by Bama again.
2727996, they were beat thoroughly but not crushed
Posted by 3xKrazy, Sat Dec-19-20 08:53 PM
34-10 is much different than 52-10.

a score like the latter and that couldve been a deal breaker.
2727998, To be honest, ND probably deserves that 4th spot regardless of margin
Posted by calij81, Sat Dec-19-20 09:21 PM
of defeat today. I wouldn’t put aTm ahead of ND. I would place ND 4th and match them up against Bama. Bama will beat aTm or ND but I’ve seen Bama beat aTm this year and last year and the year before so I don’t need to see that again.

I always enjoy watching ND get destroyed so I would prefer to see that game.
2727999, I hate using the SEC hype machine but A&M’s schedule
Posted by legsdiamond, Sat Dec-19-20 09:41 PM
is more impressive than ND

Usually ND has a gangster schedule but they had an ACC schedule this year.

but I think they get in and get stomped.
2728002, aTms schedule was shit this year and their best win is against Florida
Posted by calij81, Sat Dec-19-20 10:11 PM
I think aTm has only one win against a ranked opponent and that was Florida.

ND played and beat more ranked teams.
2728003, I'm not a ND fan by any stretch
Posted by 3xKrazy, Sat Dec-19-20 10:34 PM
I'm just not sure what aTm has done to jump them
2728004, Yeah, same here
Posted by calij81, Sat Dec-19-20 10:36 PM
2728008, Not that I give AF about A&M or 'S-E-C, S-E-C', but UF playing Bama close
Posted by dillinjah, Sun Dec-20-20 12:04 AM
>I'm just not sure what aTm has done to jump them

def helps A&M over ND.

Also, FUCK Notre Dame.
2728011, eh, i think we're getting too many degrees of separation with that one
Posted by 3xKrazy, Sun Dec-20-20 12:47 AM
2728013, Florida is better than every ACC team besides Clemson
Posted by legsdiamond, Sun Dec-20-20 09:50 AM
and I don’t like Florida at all.

2728035, Carolina could beat my boys.
Posted by dillinjah, Sun Dec-20-20 01:39 PM

2728045, Carolina’s running game is sick

2728119, it'll be decided by if we show up in the 1st Quarter
Posted by BrooklynWHAT, Mon Dec-21-20 12:04 PM
2 of our 3 Ls we didn't start playing until after halftime. for the other ND was just better than us that day. i really thought we'd beat them.

especially the way Bama was cruising in the first half. UF played like hell in the 2nd though.

1. Bama
2. Clemson
3. OSU
4. ND

Jimbo has an argument, but bama blew them out. ND got handled tonight, but they still beat clemson earlier. so that gets the nod for me.
2728010, Agreed re: top 4. I'll ROFL if the bluest blood of all (ND) get f'd

But the whole SEC can eat a DICK.

We in there.
2728088, Cincy would've been cool this year
Posted by will_5198, Sun Dec-20-20 08:19 PM
I don't mind seeing Notre Dame embarrassed though. nobody cares about A&M; the sole reason they were left out is because bama already beat them by 30 points and it would've been a rematch as the 1 vs. 4 seeds
2728106, if there was ever a year to throw the G5 a bone, it was this one
Posted by 3xKrazy, Mon Dec-21-20 10:03 AM
a clusterfuck of a season to start with, Cincy is actually pretty solid, ND fresh off a decisive loss to justify their exclusion, and the fact that whether it was cincy or ND the outcome of the game would be exactly the same.

and then the committee could cite the cincy/bama beatdown for the rest of eternity as to why they don't want a G5 team in the playoffs ever again.

everyone wins.
2728098, not even gonna deny it, clemson and dabo terrify me
Posted by guru0509, Sun Dec-20-20 10:09 PM
The Curse of Woody Hayes is real.

(jk i don't believe in curses) but Dabo just has our number man

I missed the last matchup bc I was on the other side of the world but I'm gonna tune in on New Years day, with trembling hands.
2728115, they miraculously got the rematch they wanted...better not blow it
Posted by 3xKrazy, Mon Dec-21-20 10:49 AM
but this has been such a nightmare year and unenjoyable season to watch that it seems perfectly poetic to close out 2020 with a beatdown at the hands of this ignorant ass ghoul better known as dabo.

we'll see if we can show up healthy with a fully intact roster. that's step 1. If we're suiting up the fucking janitor at safety then I'm not even bothering myself to contemplate step 2.
2728116, dabo ranked osu 11th in coaches poll...this guy

Posted by calij81, Mon Dec-21-20 12:38 PM
2728123, i'd take the over
Posted by BrooklynWHAT, Mon Dec-21-20 12:48 PM
bama might give up 30 but they'll put 50 on ND
2728127, bama 1st half has only lost once this season
Posted by 3xKrazy, Mon Dec-21-20 01:23 PM
I expect it to cash very easily here as well
2728126, ND will win.Bama’s defense is terrible.
Posted by allStah, Mon Dec-21-20 01:22 PM
This could be a blessing in disguise. ND was able to move the ball on Clemson, just couldn’t capitalize in the Red Zone.

2728154, what are you seeing in ND that nobody else sees?
Posted by tariqhu, Mon Dec-21-20 10:55 PM
you do realize they also have to stop bama? which nobody has done this year.

2728156, What do you mean?
Posted by allStah, Tue Dec-22-20 02:09 AM
I’m a ND fan. WTH am I supposed to stay?

Plus Florida hung 46 on them, and ND has a way better defense than Florida. That’s a huge weakness, and it can be exploited. However, I will say if Waddle returns, which is still a long shot, it will make bama even more explosive.

I like ND’s chances.

2728159, I dunno maybe some objectivity?
Posted by 3xKrazy, Tue Dec-22-20 07:59 AM
>I’m a ND fan. WTH am I supposed to stay?

You had them beating Clemson in a rematch and they got absolutely worked.

So going through that same routine again a week later against an even better team is kinda odd. If you're actually doing it with a straight face.
2728189, you still make no sense
Posted by allStah, Tue Dec-22-20 03:33 PM
they beat Clemson in the first game, so why wouldn’t I think or root for them to do it again? You truly make no sense.

Alabama has weaknesses in their defense and it can be exploited. Notre Dame can score, and they have a better defense than Florida. So I like their chances, and I think they can beat bama.

Will it happen? Don’t know. We shall see. That’s football.

2728203, RE: you still make no sense
Posted by 3xKrazy, Tue Dec-22-20 07:30 PM
>they beat Clemson in the first game, so why wouldn’t I
>think or root for them to do it again?

maybe returning a generational qb, 3 defensive starters, and playing on a neutral field would've wisened you up?

>You truly make no
>sense.

I'll try to work on that

2728163, ND doesn't have the offense that UF has.
Posted by tariqhu, Tue Dec-22-20 09:40 AM
your defense is better, but your offense isn't. Book might get some runs off though. that's always been a weakness for bama.

Bama's defense aint what it used to be in years passed, but only a couple teams really got off on them this year. nobody else scored more than 24 and most scored 17 or less.

being a fan shouldn't cause blindness. I'm a tide fan but I don't really want to see Clemson.
2728192, You are on some personal stuff and really messing up this
Posted by allStah, Tue Dec-22-20 03:53 PM
Thread. People can root and hope for whatever they want for their team. I never tell someone who and how they can root for their squad and what they hope for, not even lakers fans who think they are going to kill everyone in sight.

So all I have for you is peace with two fingers.

2728213, lol I never said anything personal.
Posted by tariqhu, Tue Dec-22-20 08:10 PM
and never said you shouldn't root for your squad. I root for mine, which includes the lakers and the up and down ass rams.

but I can also recognize and say when I think a win might be a long shot.

you didn't answer what you see that the rest of us are not.

induced psychosis downward spiral type shit.

also, while he loves making excuses, he takes no ownership of how his coaching decisions and clock management in the final minute of the first half against bama and OU straight up lost his team the games.

he just seems borderline brain damaged at this point.

I’m also calling OSU beating Clemson. OSU should have won last year if not for that Dobbins drop.

everyone saying how much of an improved team UGA is with Daniels at qb...maybe its cause he was lighting up south carolina and mizzou?

florida and uga will still prob be top 10 teams in the final rankings though.

2728855, This Peach bowl has been good.

2728876, Aight it’s time to lower academic standards.
Posted by allStah, Fri Jan-01-21 07:06 PM
ND raised their standards to be on par with Stanford which caused Lou Holtz to leave. They haven’t been the same since. Either they want to win a national championship or they are okay with being a top 5-10 school.

They can beat everybody except Clemson and Alabama

2728878, ND and Michigan need to lower it
Posted by BrooklynWHAT, Fri Jan-01-21 07:17 PM
If not then y’all aren’t really trying to win.
That’s the first thing Butch did when he got to UNC and we started landing ballers
2728880, ND and mich are recruiting the same dudes as everyone else

2728886, Bullshit excuse???
Posted by allStah, Fri Jan-01-21 08:21 PM
What?

Tony rice, Rocket Ishmael, Jerome Bettis, Tim Brown, players from all those
great ND teams would be non-qualifiers under ND current academic standards.

Lou Holtz recruited any player he wanted to because ND would admit them regardless
of the academic ability. But that was when ND was football factory...but a new AD came in and raised the standards. ND has a focking Calculus requirement for athletes! There were so many players who wanted to go to ND, but couldn’t because they were unable to pass calculus.

Michigan, Stanford, Notre Dame are all top ten in academic standards ..

“In 2004, all-time Notre Dame great Paul Horning made it clear that the school should ease up on academic restrictions. Horning told ESPN's Dan Patrick that former coach Lou Holtz showed him a list of the top-50 recruits and explained that the university's admissions office would only allow him to recruit three players on the list.

Horning felt in the late 1980s, when Notre Dame won its last national championship, that academic standards were eased. He used Tony Rice, the quarterback of that team, as an example.

Horning explained that Rice, at that time, was one of only two Prop 48 players to ever play for Notre Dame. He told Patrick, "Tony Rice honored himself and graduated in four years."

Aron Gopal, of the Daily Grind, when talking about the Holtz era, said, "In the 1980s, Notre Dame wasn't much more than a football school. Consequently, Holtz could recruit anyone he wanted, including non-qualifiers like Rice.

In 2001, when Gopal made this statement, he said, "Notre Dame supporters have yet to grasp that things have changed at Notre Dame." He went on to point out that Notre Dame was on academic par with schools like Vanderbilt and Georgetown.

Regarding the calculus requirement for all freshmen, Gopal said, "It prevented Bob Davie from recruiting T.J. Duckett and David Terrell, both of who wanted to go to Notre Dame but couldn't pass calculus."

One of the names that keeps popping up as a replacement for Weis is Florida coach Urban Meyer. According to ESPN, Meyer told the media today that he wants to stay at Florida "as long as they'll have me."

2728879, ND's only objective for this game was to cover the spread
Posted by 3xKrazy, Fri Jan-01-21 07:32 PM
2728881, Garbage TD to cover the spread, ruin my prediction of a 24 point loss
Posted by calij81, Fri Jan-01-21 07:44 PM
ND getting embarrass in a NY day bowl game is as consistent as the NYE ball drop.
2728883, ND played better defense, but I feel like bama let off the gas.
Posted by tariqhu, Fri Jan-01-21 07:45 PM
no matter tho. ND moved the ball in spots, but couldn't score.
2728884, I agree that it seemed like Bama let off the gas and ND did move
Posted by calij81, Fri Jan-01-21 07:50 PM
The ball well at times but a lot of teams have been able to move the ball and score on Bama this year so I was expecting that.

I honestly thought we would have seen a 48-24 or 45-20 final score so this game was much lower scoring than I thought it would be.
2728935, that's been saban's blueprint for a minute. bama first half bets are free money.

2728914, Ryan Day has really impressed me so far in his career
Posted by calij81, Fri Jan-01-21 11:07 PM
He came into a good situation with a very talented QB so we will see what he can do once Fields is gone but I thought he was going to be more Chip Kelly than Urban Meyer.

OSU should have beaten Clemson last year and they are just wrecking them this year.
2728922, RE: Ryan Day has really impressed me so far in his career

The real test will come

2728928, That’s true but Olave was recruited by Day and Fields came to OSU

We will see what he can do next season when he has to replace Fields.

Plus, OSU recruits itself and the Big 10 is looking down right now so OSU should be running the Big 10 for a while.

Who is a big part of the offense, and Day is still eating off that.
Clemson had zero answers for his speed

Olave, Ruckert, Farrell...3 OLs. ..that defense..Wade, Williamson, starting LBs and that D-Line

The majority of that starting team are Meyers recruits, bro.

In two years we will see what Day is really made of. He is doing a great job....but let’s see when the slate is fully clean.
2729224, looking spectacular.
Posted by will_5198, Tue Jan-05-21 12:25 AM
the fact he more or less spent this season designing a game plan to fucking rip Brent Venables' heart out, then went out and did it...that's elite coaching
2729243, his gameplan last year was just as superb
Posted by 3xKrazy, Tue Jan-05-21 10:45 AM
Just some basic execution errors (2 drops from JK) and a bogus ejection otherwise that game also would've been over in the first half.

What's interesting about this year was that Day put venables on notice about the sign stealing. And despite Day tipping his hand and letting venables know it wasnt going to work this year, clemson D was still completely lost and out of position.

The gamesmanship here was really interesting.

>the fact he more or less spent this season designing a game

Posted by calij81, Sat Jan-02-21 12:22 AM
to Clemson.

I felt like OSU would win this game but I didn’t think they would win in such dominating fashion. I figured OSU would win by 10 or 14 with a 4th quarter TD or FG to basically provide some cushion for the margin of victory.

Who would have thought that the Bama/ND would be the closer and somewhat more competitive game today.
2728944, it was tough to truly gauge this team off a 6 game sample size
Posted by 3xKrazy, Sat Jan-02-21 01:15 AM
and most recently with a covid depleted roster.

the masses only focused on the less than stellar moments, and somehow got it in their heads that OSU was no longer talented and that fields was overrated. cfb fans/media are wildly reactionary to begin with. when dealing with a small sample size of games this was ratcheted up ten-fold. everyone felt personally aggrieved by osu getting into the playoffs, which was only further amplified from dabo and mullen pot-stirring...and in order to justify osu's exclusion from the playoffs, they had to convince themselves that they were a talentless, shitty team.

if you watched every game you would've been able to see a very talented team that struggled at times with getting a rhythm and just needed the opportunity to get at full strength and put it all together. but the potential and talent was always there.
2728942, I have to imagine Bama being

CFB is pretty deep in the coaching hiring cycle so if someone wanted Sark they could have hired him. This just seems like panic by Texas. If Texas really wanted Sark they could have easily hired him next season.

Posted by obsidianchrysalis, Tue Jan-05-21 01:19 AM
There's just not enough parity in CFB to suggest having an expanded field would lead to better competition. In fact, things would get worse. If the number #1 team is beating the number #4 team by 28, do we really think the number #8 is going to play them better?
2729232, lmao.. of course the 1 vs 8 matchup wont be entertaining

I want to see Alabama look ugly as shit against a military school....who they refuse to play doing a regular season!

Seeing West Virginia look like a prep school against Army for most of the game had people shocked.....

There is a reason why some top schools refuse to play some of these mid major schools but will go and play some weak ass FCS ( paying them so they can run up the score...)

A bigger playoff would definitely make shit more competitive...unexpectedly.

We saw what NC did to Texas Am with their top players not available.
We saw how Cincinnati competed against Georgia. Both SEC teams looked wack as shit against basically basketball schools.

Get these power conference schools against hungry ass mid majors...you will see some shocking shit.

but I think players opting out of bowl games to get ready for the draft will now make most bowl games unwatchable regardless of the set up.

maybe an 8 team playoff would give star players more incentive to play in hopes of making the championship tho

2729245, the clamoring for this only confirms that cfb fans/media are the dumbest

of any sport.

Expanding to 8 and then eventually 16 is like trying to fix your broken leg by walking into incoming traffic.

And I love the notion that playoff games are somehow immune to player opt-outs. Dilute these playoff games and watch what happens.

If risking NFL money is the most important thing, then it's the most important thing and nothing is going to change that.

2729261, Put all the conference champions in a playoff
Posted by allStah, Tue Jan-05-21 02:02 PM
Seed them by record, give a team a wild card berth to make it 12 teams.
Wild card would be given to the runner -up from the best conference ( based on records).

Top 4 teams get byes.

The remaining 8 play in the first week, and the winners play the 4 bye teams.

The remaining 4 go to the semifinals, and the winners from that play in the championship.

Completed in one month.

All this man-made ranking shit needs to be kicked out. Do it like the NFL (based on division winners and best records).

2729265, no.

"this is rock bottom" (c) 2010, 2012, 2017, 2021

it's amazing to see how far Pruitt had fallen in a year, to the point the school actively investigated itself to get rid of him for cause.

*shrug*. the fans got what they wanted last time, and we're all back at the same spot. the QAnon contingent of Tennessee fandom is still strong -- literally, they are talking about GRUDEN again -- so who knows where this goes.

Gruden is to Tennessee as Trump is to QAnon. I’m also sure Tennessee has a lot of QAnon followers so that makes sense.

but is pretty gross.

seeing it up close in person is super cringe.

5-10 years from now they're either gonna have to scrap it altogether or be forced to include male students into the hostess program lolz

You played sports in college? You probably have some stories...

it'll probably be the latter and not because it'll be an attempt at gender equity.

I didn't play but had some experience on the S&C side of things so I had a little bit of exposure to the recruiting process. the weight room is always a part of the recruiting tour and recruits were always escorted by hostesses. and let's just say that it was easy to tell who the higher priority recruits were based on the hostesses.

i had a coworker who back in school, while not attractive herself (big girl), had a big personality and made friends easily. life of the party type.

her college job was basically to help organize the hostess program for football and recruit her hot (and mainly white) friends into it. she had stories for DAYS.
