2725576, Melo about to be the 3rd splash brother
Posted by ThaTruth, Wed Nov-18-20 06:56 PM
2725580, Offer a deal for Harden. No reason not to.
Posted by Frank Longo, Wed Nov-18-20 07:04 PM
2725581, He’d be the anti-GS offense
Posted by ThaTruth, Wed Nov-18-20 07:09 PM
2725587, if you think Curry and Melo win more than Curry and Harden...
Posted by Frank Longo, Wed Nov-18-20 07:41 PM
... then I have some swamp land in Florida to sell you.
2725588, In this Swamp Land you speak of could Wiggins drive the fan boat?
Posted by GOMEZ, Wed Nov-18-20 07:44 PM
.
2725590, lmao, yeah they gotta get rid of Wiggins.
Posted by Frank Longo, Wed Nov-18-20 07:51 PM
I know he was fine enough during a lost season, but he’s been bad his entire NBA career. Zero trust in him.
2725708, It’s not an either/or thing genius
Posted by ThaTruth, Thu Nov-19-20 04:34 AM
2725710, And Draymond didn’t get along with KD what will he and Harden do?

2725585, This is not the news I wanted to hear during the draft countdown
Posted by GOMEZ, Wed Nov-18-20 07:27 PM
I'm somewhere around stage 3 right now. cuz forreal, FUCK THIS. Maybe it's not that bad? It wasn't the leg he injured last year, i heard. maybe that's a good sign. But this is BULLSHIT!!!

Shock and denial. This is a state of disbelief and numbed feelings.
Pain and guilt.
Anger and bargaining.
Depression.
The upward turn.
Reconstruction and working through.
Acceptance and hope.
2725591, Well, this fucking sucks
Posted by mrhood75, Wed Nov-18-20 07:51 PM
2725593, The timing of this is beyond crazy.
Posted by Frank Longo, Wed Nov-18-20 07:59 PM
They find out mere hours before they have the #2 pick that they may have to *completely* change their plan going forward.
2725594, seriously, man...it has to be absolute nuts in their facility, right now...
Posted by Dstl1, Wed Nov-18-20 08:05 PM
they can't rush the diagnosis...but, they literally can't wait.
2725598, Dude on ESPN was like they need to stay the course with their draft board
Posted by RandomFact, Wed Nov-18-20 08:12 PM
I didn't quite understand that.
2725604, It was the right decision.
Posted by mrhood75, Wed Nov-18-20 08:26 PM
They're trying to be the Spurs, and build for the long term. Panicking and picking someone who wasn't in their plans or they thought won't fit in would have been a mistake.
2725600, Reports are coming that it may be a torn achilles.....
Posted by blueeclipse, Wed Nov-18-20 08:20 PM
Fuck. That's awful if it's true. Yikes.
2725601, unbelievable
Posted by Dstl1, Wed Nov-18-20 08:22 PM
.
2725642, I sincerely hope it's not

2725700, damn man.
Posted by Reeq, Wed Nov-18-20 11:21 PM
2725701, This is devastating. One of my fav players to watch.
Posted by Ryan M, Wed Nov-18-20 11:26 PM
I hope it’s not true, but how can it be anything but an Achilles at this point? Fuck. I’m so sad for him.
2725718, Did GS owner make a deal with the devil?

2725712, this BLOOOOOOOWS
Posted by Dr Claw, Thu Nov-19-20 08:47 AM
I was looking forward to Jimmy's Heat matching them up head to head. won't be the same w/o Klay
2725717, did you think they were getting to the Finals?
Posted by ThaTruth, Thu Nov-19-20 09:30 AM
>I was looking forward to Jimmy's Heat matching them up head
>to head. won't be the same w/o Klay
2725722, yeah im confused here
Posted by BrooklynWHAT, Thu Nov-19-20 10:10 AM
2725778, no, I actually have the Lakers running it back esp. now.
Posted by Dr Claw, Thu Nov-19-20 02:26 PM
I wanted to see them in regular season play.
2725728, This sucks.
Posted by Cold Truth, Thu Nov-19-20 10:57 AM
I hope this wasn't his Grant Hill moment.
2725753, achilles confirmed: out for the year
Posted by Dstl1, Thu Nov-19-20 01:37 PM
.
2725754, Fuck. He's likely done for good.
Posted by Cold Truth, Thu Nov-19-20 01:41 PM
He may come back, but he won't be anything resembling Klay Thompson again.
2725767, I think he'll be able to recover
Posted by mrhood75, Thu Nov-19-20 02:03 PM
His defense might not be as good, but he's always been a catch and shoot player, so I don't think that will go away.

Regardless, he doesn't have anything to prove to anyone.
2725773, He may.
Posted by Ryan M, Thu Nov-19-20 02:19 PM
And agreed - if his career ended tomorrow, a 3x champ, 5x all star, one of the best shooters of all time, 2x third team, etc is not only an incredible career but also one that was FAR beyond what was expected of Klay. And he's not a slasher like Derrick Rose, but his defense will suffer and he'll be slower. Still a knockdown shooter, and still a valuable piece if he can stay healthy, but it won't be the same with 2 years off, coming back at 31-32 years old, plus just the mental hurdles he'll have to go through. It's so sad.
2725774, Fam this isn't about him proving anything
Posted by Cold Truth, Thu Nov-19-20 02:22 PM
His legacy as a champion, an all time great shooter, an all time great two-way player, all that shit is secure.

This is about wanting to see him continue his career in peak form. This still renders an incomplete picture.

I hate seeing cats get cut off in their prime.
2725755, Damn man......
Posted by blueeclipse, Thu Nov-19-20 01:41 PM
Klay isn't gonna be the same after this. Warriors are kinda done for the forseeable future if not for good. We'll see. But man. I have never seen injuries ravage a contender like this.
2725757, Well, that officially fucking sucks.
Posted by mrhood75, Thu Nov-19-20 01:46 PM
Klay is a great dude and beloved in the Bay. Wishing him all the best.
2725758, sucks. one of the few good things to ever come from WSU.
Posted by PROMO, Thu Nov-19-20 01:49 PM
love his game.

i'm not writing him off forever like some of y'all psychos, but not seeing him ball for ANOTHER year is doo doo.
2725759, Bruh. I'm hurt over this one
Posted by Hitokiri, Thu Nov-19-20 01:49 PM
All eyes in the bay are gonna be glued on KD to see how he looks post achilles tear.

This could be it for Klay.
I hope not.
But fuck...
2725769, the difference is regardless if he can move the same KD is still...
Posted by ThaTruth, Thu Nov-19-20 02:09 PM
7 foot with a wet jumper...

>All eyes in the bay are gonna be glued on KD to see how he

>This could be it for Klay.

>But fuck...
2725771, but, when has Kev ever been a stand in the corner...
Posted by Dstl1, Thu Nov-19-20 02:14 PM
and wait for the kickout shooter? One of the things that's so terrifying about him is that he's that tall with handles. He usually sets his jumpers up with a couple of bounces and then pulls up and no one on Earth can block his shot.
2725775, I get all that I'm just saying I think his margin for recovery is a lot...
Posted by ThaTruth, Thu Nov-19-20 02:25 PM

bigger than Klay's but who knows really
2725787, you right, we don't really know....
Posted by Dstl1, Thu Nov-19-20 03:02 PM
I saw some video of KD dribbling and shooting and he looked cool...but, that was on a court by himself. Who knows what he will look like in the heat of an actual game with defenders on him.
2725792, right I just feel like KD at 85% is still at least 2011 Dirk
Posted by ThaTruth, Thu Nov-19-20 03:43 PM
2725760, wow...
Posted by CyrenYoung, Thu Nov-19-20 01:51 PM
..you really hate to see set-backs like this.

*skatin' the rings of saturn*

..and miles to go before i sleep...
2725772, is it just me, or are there more achilles tears than ever?
Posted by PROMO, Thu Nov-19-20 02:16 PM
seriously asking.

when i was younger, i didn't pay as much attention to injuries, so i don't know if it's always been there and i was just uninformed or what.

but lately? seems like so many achilles tears.

used to feel like it was rare...like one a year.
2725780, Yeah, I'm wondering too.
Posted by Ryan M, Thu Nov-19-20 02:28 PM
I mean in the last 6-7 years we've had: Kobe, Durant, Klay, Boogie - and that's just the star tier. Then there's Wes Matthews, Rudy Gay, Rodney Hood, etc. It just doesn't feel like this is happening at the frequency we're used to, AND to younger players too.

2725785, goodness...

"More than a third (36.8%) of players either did not return to play or started in fewer than 10 games in the remainder of their career, with 21% of ruptures leading to retirement."
2725793, an ACL tear used to be a similar, career-ender. Not anymore
Posted by Hitokiri, Thu Nov-19-20 03:46 PM
That's a part of the reason it's gonna be so important to see how KD fairs. Boogie was different because he just carries so much weight. But if KD can be old KD, then Klay might be able to do the same. Hopefully with new medical treatments, these can be set backs but not career enders moving forward.
2725777, Out of curiosity
Posted by Numba_33, Thu Nov-19-20 02:25 PM
was he fully recovered from the prior knee surgery?
2725781, The word was, yes, he was recovering
Posted by mrhood75, Thu Nov-19-20 02:32 PM
This work-out was supposed to be helping gauge that, but they were saying that it seemed like it was track.
2725784, does the training staff take heat for this?
Posted by Stadiq, Thu Nov-19-20 02:51 PM

Especially since it happened during a workout?

I'm honestly asking...
2725820, You know I thought about this too
Posted by obsidianchrysalis, Thu Nov-19-20 07:44 PM
Especially in light of KD's injury and Boogie's problems.

Klay's recovery seemed slower than expected. Even in their brief mini-bubble training camp, some of the staff seemed let down by Klay's progress. They maybe thought he would have been back near his peak by then.

Is some of that because of the training staff? Or could Klay's body simply have needed more time to heal than many athletes coming off an ACL?

I struggle to blame training staffs for these freak injuries. Especially given how much mileage Klay and the rest of the team had over the previous five years. Not everyone is LeBron and even he's good for taking 5-10 games off a year.

KD's and Klay's injuries were severe and career-altering but given how few injuries the team had over their run and the volume of games they played, the staff did reasonably well, I suppose.
2725837, idk
Posted by Rjcc, Fri Nov-20-20 12:25 AM
Golden State had the training staff that fixed Steph's ankles

but then they let those folks get hired away and it hasn't been the same since

www.engadgethd.com - the other stuff i'm looking at
2725791, Woj also said that Klay was told he can expect to make a full recovery
Posted by Hitokiri, Thu Nov-19-20 03:43 PM
based on the kind of tear it was.
make what you will of that.
just looking for any bit of hope right now.
2725794, That's great news if true.....
Posted by blueeclipse, Thu Nov-19-20 03:47 PM
I partially tore my achilles about 7 years ago. I was on unemployment at the time and took a bad step going down some stairs. Needless to say I didn't get the "proper" medical attention. It healed but I still feel a little tweak every now and then.

Klay should be fine if it wasn't a rupture.
2725809, I had a full rupture 3 yrs ago...
Posted by Marbles, Thu Nov-19-20 05:28 PM
Got the surgery, did the PT and I'm still fairly certain that I'll never be the same.

Now, I'm not a world class athlete with the resources of a pro franchise behind me. Not even close.

But it's a devastating injury (physically & mentally), ain't it?

I've been rooting against Golden St. since their rise but I have the utmost respect for Klay & his game. I hope he can make a comeback.
2725795, don't almost always say that?
Posted by ThaTruth, Thu Nov-19-20 03:48 PM
2725838, I think it’s a semantics game.
Posted by tariqhu, Fri Nov-20-20 09:04 AM
To me, fully recovered says the injury will heal after surgery. Not that he’ll be the guy he was pre injury.

Healing doesn’t take as long in most cases. The rehab with strengthening and flexion are what typically take forever.
2725812, two season-ending injuries in a row doesnt seem like "full" potential
Posted by ConcreteCharlie, Thu Nov-19-20 05:36 PM
i bet he returns to the court, especially with that contract on the table, but i doubt he will ever be the same. it's a damn shame because he has had a helluva career.
2725886, mannnn... this is so crazy.
Posted by poetx, Fri Nov-20-20 10:02 PM
i hope dude can make it back, but damn.

they really gonna have to coach 'em up this year. if wiggins can ball out, steph be steph, and wiseman end up being nice?

ball out in another placeholder year and pick up giannis in FA next year?

peace & blessings,

x.
