..solid play, but still too many penalties in the 2nd half.

Defense playing well as a unit, but a little sloppy on the details at times.

Brady's getting more comfortable with his targets on offense, spreading love all over the field for 369yds/4tds (no sacks).

Next up: Giants

>spreading love all over the field for 369yds/4tds (no sacks).

No false starts by donovan smith either, which is *wild* to me.

Having said that, until proven otherwise it's clear bucs have a problem against a good pass rush (chicago, saints)

Running game was...not that great either. No offense to Jones, but I'd rather see more of Fournette as the year goes along.

Posted by Dr Claw, Sun Oct-25-20 09:40 PM
their only losses, unfortunately for what comes next, have been to the two teams in the AFC North better than they are.

Both teams had abysmal defense.
But both QBs had pretty good days.

Burrow's last scoring drive would have been enough with a defense that doesn't suck.

Baker Mayfield had some daggers out there. absolute daggers. DPJ (Donovan Peoples-Jones) came out of nowhere on some Fulgham shit.

weirdos with their OBJ agendas like he didn't damn near singlehandedly win that game against the Cowboys after nearly choking it. they need to go on somewhere.

speaking of Fulgham...

we probably don't want to talk about the Eagles here because they are still a bad team. but LOL @ Carson Wentz making it a trend of coming back late in the 4th when defeat is on the horizon. this Rodgers dude was killing it. the legend of Fulgatron lives on. and "Thegatron" actually caught a pass. Defense.... is ass. O-Line and RBs getting decimated.

yes, lol @ the Daniel Jones flop, but that was a BALLS call that tells me that if the Giants have an O-Line and some WRs they'll be back in business. Game would have been over if Engram catches that perfectly thrown ball.

Daniel Jones is basically Eli. He's fine. We got the Full Eli Manning Experience with him on Thursday night. The Giants don't have Saquon, and don't have WRs on that Cruz/OBJ/Plax level. Maybe Golden Tate. IMO I don't even think they have Other Steve Smith or Manningham level WRs either.
2724296, AFC east clearly up for grabs.
Posted by allStah, Sun Oct-25-20 09:42 PM
Burrow and Herbert killing shit as rookies... man if Miami starts losing I wonder what the owners are gong to do?

Steelers look powerful. However that defense is suspect. Titans had a chance in the end.

Dallas might as well start tanking for Fields. Or make a move for Winston. The division is still winnable.

That Washington team is going to be a threat in the future. That defensive line ain’t no joke.

Bears all up in that ass tomorrow. We could really run shit with our defense and Foles in control. If we score 20 points or more, that’s a wrap.

..Seattle runs that slant a LOT (at least 5 or 6 times tonight) and AZ knows it.

They showed blitz (getting after Wilson several times in OT), but dropped into coverage, intent on jumping all underneath routes (knowing that Russ wouldn't have the time to go deep).

Textbook.

Flawless execution.

The real question: Why was AZ still throwing the ball downfield when they were well within FG range on the final drive?

They're actually fortunate the last pass was incomplete. If that catch is made and the WR doesn't get out of bounds, the game ends in a tie (AZ was out of timeouts and they didn't have enough time to get down the field and spike the ball). Thats something that should come up this week in practice for the coaching staff.

You can't give a young, hungry, talented team too many chances. Russ got a little too comfortable on that last drive in OT and it cost them dearly.

Seattle has some work to do, but this should be their wake-up call.

His arm looked live as shit. He was eating up Edelman's hands with zip on the ball and we were talking about how Julian wasn't use to a QB that throws that hard. Fast forward to yesterday...his arm looks shot. He's spiking short throws, he looks like he has concrete shoes on, he's stiff as fuck. It's like his joints don't work. He doesn't even bend at the knees or waist when he throws. WHAT HAPPENED??? What happened between the Seattle game and now? He had Covid. Listen, I'm not even gonna pretend to know anything about how Covid really works, but asymptomatic or not...I just don't know how that can be dismissed.

It would be cheap.

It would be fun.

They will blame him when they don't win.

Yeah. It's almost too simple. I figured they'd go for him or Fitzpatrick.

Some Cowboys fans just wanna roll with Bonaduce (I call him something wrong and different every time) and be terrible for draft reasons. I wonder if Jerry has the discipline to just lean into being bad for a year? Everyone is old, hurt, playing badly, or some sad combo. They almost certainly have the wrong coaching staff.

It is totally okay to just sack up, admit you got it wrong, hope Dak attacks his rehab and gets lucky, and come on back next year with some young dude who is off somewhere being a part of imaginative playcalling. Then, get him an adult supporting coaching staff, get Zeke to quit effin fumbling, and get Cooper some Epson salt for his tender feets.

The thing that annoys me most with this iteration of the Bears is the psuedo trickery. I'm very tired of hearing Harlem Globetrotter whistling every time there's a key play in a Bears drive.

Double reverse foolishness...like they have a list of plays that you never call on Tecmo Bowl or Madden, and that make damn sure to call like 12 of those every game. I hate it.
2724495, the Bears never evolved, like the Ravens did.
Posted by Dr Claw, Tue Oct-27-20 10:31 PM
I couldn't tell you many of the Bears QBs over the last 15 years, much less the last 30.

Grossman because they went to the Super Bowl (on some Ravens 2000 shit).
Dudes like Kreutz because he and Ken Dorsey were the feature on one of the worst ESPN MNF games I've ever seen between Bears and Niners.
Trubisky because Mentor and UNC.
and Foles because Eagles.

they just kind of Cuban B that position. The best WR they had on their team for years ended up going to the Eagles (and winning a Super Bowl) lol.

notable RBs though: Forte, Foster (what up Feeno)

GOAT returner (Hester).
2724506, They just don’t Cuban B it.
Posted by allStah, Tue Oct-27-20 11:31 PM
The bears have invested in the position. Bears went out and got Jay Cutler, and statistically he is our greatest QB ever. He has the records for most passing yards and most TDs thrown in bears history. However, he was dull and apathetic all the time and didn’t really care about football. I personally feel he had a chemical imbalance that made him moody.

Jim Harbaugh. Kyle Orton and Erik Kramer were all solid QBs for the bears.

It’s funny how people forget that the bears missed going to the NFC championship 2 years ago due to a missed FG. That was Trubisky’s second year as a QB. He threw for 3000+yards,24 TDs, and the bears went 11-3.

We are not the Bengals, Browns, Lions, etc. We have had some success in recent years.

Our issue is the lack of consistency with our offense and QBs. For some reason, we are unable to have consecutive years of good quarterbacking
2724362, Penalties have killed us defensively
Posted by allStah, Mon Oct-26-20 09:56 PM
Our defense is the most penalized defense in the nfl. We are able to get stops on 3rd down, but then they get rescinded due to committing stupid penalties. It gives the opponent another set of downs, and eventually leads to them scoring.

Offensively, we have been stale. However, we did get into the red zone, near the goal line, only for an interception to happen. That should have easily been 7 points.

We should have 14 points right now.

2724363, Great defensive play for the TD.
Posted by allStah, Mon Oct-26-20 09:59 PM
We’re still in it.
2724364, Nick Foles’ inability to run or scramble really kills the offense.
Posted by allStah, Mon Oct-26-20 10:14 PM
In a protected pocket, he will carve you up. However, under pressure, he will just throw into it, which leads to bad throws or interceptions.

He just stands in the pocket and takes shots....He can’t QB on the run, which is needed against fast defenses

Believe it or not, Trubisky excels in situations like these ...because he plays better on the run or when he is scrambling. Plus Nagy’s offense is designed for a running QB.
I probably would have made a switch due to the situation.
2724373, Foles Gold!!!

2724365, MVP of the game : The punter
Posted by allStah, Mon Oct-26-20 10:42 PM
He kept the bears deep in their own territory. If you have to drive the length of the field on almost every possession, you’re going to become extremely predictable offensively. The Defense is going to play deep and keep everything in front of them.

Move on to the next game. I still believe in this team. We have to get disciplined, and damn do we miss Tarik Cohen.

2724367, Bears might have the worst OL in football
Posted by Amritsar, Mon Oct-26-20 10:48 PM
Sheesh
2724368, I guess you don’t watch the NFC east or the Jets.
Posted by allStah, Mon Oct-26-20 10:58 PM
Not even close to the worst. We were going up against Aaron Donald and a high flying defense. We have a decent pass blocking OL. Run blocking is where we suck.

Usually Nick has time to throw. But against this type of defense that can’t be stopped a running QB is needed.

The regular ESPN anchors and commentators are there for entertainment. The former athletes are there for their sport specific expertise and analysis but their attempting to blur the the lines is like having Stephen A taking about other sports besides basketball and Max Kellerman talking about things besides boxing.

When you take away guys from their area of expertise they just become loud guys yelling at the bar.

but, they don't cross Ryan over into other sports. Ryan talks football...then they do a quick departure to the World Series and bring Jessica Mendoza in. When it was hoops, Jaylen would drop in, but he doesn't appear just to talk football. That's why I enjoy Get Up. They talk different topics and bring in guys for specific ones. I don't want to hear Rex Ryan talk about the Thunder's coaching vacancy...but, I'd like to hear Zach Lowe talk about it.
