2723877, TB defense making me look smart
Posted by mista k5, Mon Oct-19-20 12:23 PM
i almost went no defense because i thought there was no way green bay didnt score a lot. didnt want to end up with negative points. i figured at worst TB defense would give me around 5 points so left them in. they ended up giving me 24 pts.

start of the game didnt seem too promising. i tuned out but when i checked later i was happy i left them in lol

got a combined 42 points from my kicker (koo) and defense

this season is definitely interesting so far.

only Carson himself isn't banged up. But the rest of the team is. Carson, like McNabb, is capable of damn near "Fuck You" plays, like those "Fuck It" Bombs to Fulgham.

the playcalling has been ass though. Eagles have no running game to start with, and they're in so much trouble w/o Sanders. wtf happened these last couple of years?

it is funny watching some of these white Philly fans though

that team was complete. defense, running game, passing game, coaching. depth.

2004-05 was the closest, but there were points lacking. some of the mistakes Carson has made this year (and the last) remind me of the ones
Donovan used to get killed for.

B-Shells was right about Carson being the true heir to Favre, even over Tony Romo, Obvious Favre Stan. He loves having FUN!

The shitshow with the Giants and Jets will Febreze McCarthy methinks. And all of a sudden the Dak sux and doesn’t deserve big money folks will be like ‘man, if we woulda had Dak’. I always ask these folks about Kirk Cousins, Matt Stafford, and even Matt Ryan and I usually don’t get decent answers.

Also, Philly is out there with a 3rd team roster on offense and a 2nd team defense so it’s hard to holler out ‘injuries yawl’.

Posted by allStah, Tue Oct-20-20 12:13 AM
They are causing him to fumble. Until 2020, he had only fumbled 5 times for his entire career. He now has 4 fumbles on the season.

Sweat just sitting on his sleeves....the tighter he holds the more it slips.

Go naked arms.

2723917, The fumble on the pass catch was just a good play by the defender
Posted by legsdiamond, Tue Oct-20-20 08:10 AM
He didn’t even have a chance to put it away before it was punched out.

Has he worn these all year? It’s not like Dallas is cold af.
2723918, right, he didn't even tuck that shit, that was the problem
Posted by ThaTruth, Tue Oct-20-20 08:46 AM
2723920, Yeah maybe on that one.
Posted by allStah, Tue Oct-20-20 09:05 AM
Based on research, college and pros, majority of fumbles came from players who wore long sleeve shirts. There is no grit or texture on the shirt like there is with skin of the upper arm.

Analyst on espn said the following:

“Having played football for 18 years as a QB, RB, and DB, I personally found Under Armour caused me to lose traction on the football. In fact, I never really saw the benefit of wearing sleeves.

I think that most ball carriers would agree with me in saying that, unless you are playing a position in which you never touch the ball, you are better without sleeves in general. Watch an NFL game and take note of the fact that zero ball carriers wear sleeves.

Honestly, Under Armour is more of a fashion statement than anything. Real ball players don't wear sleeves, rain or shine.”
2723923, last night kind of felt how most games these year should have gone
Posted by mista k5, Tue Oct-20-20 10:12 AM
it really was amazing that dak was able to keep them in so many of these games.

no discipline
weird play calls
defense is almost completely trash

they have enough talent on the offense to make big plays but the team as a whole sucks. i dont really know what to hope for in the rest of the season.

to be clear i dont think andy was the problem but he sure couldnt step up how dak was doing.

whats up with getting near the red zone then shutting down. they keep doing that.

the defense had a decent start last night but no way you can ask them to make up for those 4 turnovers. if they can stop turning the ball over then maybe theres something to hope for.
2723925, so many thoughts...
Posted by Dstl1, Tue Oct-20-20 10:33 AM
the playcalling...is pretty much as weird as last year. I guess Kellen is the consistent. The team has shitty characteristics, that are coaching, IMO. The lack of discipline, not being prepared...all the things Garrett got cooked for. McCarthy hasn't seemed to do anything unique or different. The injuries are a lot...a lot, a lot. We've just about lost an entire, starting offensive line...that's not even hyperbole, either. Andy is Andy. I don't blame last night on him. He's simply not good enough to elevate a bad team. That's all. Zeke is...I dunno. Not even just the fumbles. He just doesn't look electric, with the ball. Hasn't in a minute. They don't use him in ways to get him in the action, either. Like the 49ers. If you are an athlete, Shanahan is going to get you the fucking ball. The defense...smh. They've been bad since the first snap of Game 1. Weird, because there's good, individual players. Not sure what Nolan is teaching. They weren't the 85 Bears under Marinelli, but the absent mindedness, butt naked blown coverages where guys are alone behind the entire coverage.
2723927, RE: so many thoughts...
Posted by mista k5, Tue Oct-20-20 11:00 AM
i think moving on from the coaches last year was needed. i think its becoming clear the coaches they hired to replace them were not the right ones.

the injuries are a big factor but there are problems that should not be affected by the injuries. the problems have been there since game 1.

totally agree about andy and zeke. i had hopes for zeke being focused this year but eh.

through out the offseason i wavered between being really excited at the potential for the team and remembering that so many changes could mean a bad year. through the first few games i was okay using the excuse of a greatly reduced off season. its much more than that though.

i think nolan should go now, i dont know who replaces him but has there even been a hint at the defense being good at one thing?

i dont know how they fix the turnovers. no way jerry is getting rid of mccarthy so soon. not sure what happens on that side.

can the cowboys steal callahan back from the browns in the middle of the season? i think the OL has been deteriorating since he left, even when healthy.
2723962, Question.
Posted by allStah, Tue Oct-20-20 03:32 PM
You had hopes that Zeke would be more focused this year?

Is this in relation to last year?

He ran for 1400 yards and 12 TDs last year.

I’m just curious.
2723964, somewhat
Posted by mista k5, Tue Oct-20-20 04:51 PM
in previous years hes shown greatness that is rarely matched, by anyone. at his worst hes been good.

last year had the hold out drama and he still came in strong. i figured with that drama out of the way he would be even better.

so in relation to last year and also regarding how he has actually played this year i did hope he would be more focused. i think a lot of the fumbles have been great plays by the defenders but at some point zeke needs to over come that.

a bit unfair standards but i was hoping for more from him.

2723969, This makes no sense.
Posted by allStah, Tue Oct-20-20 06:13 PM
Fitzpatrick has led them tremendously, and they actually have a shot at winning the division. Miami wasn’t even expected to get this far, and they won their most recent game.

Do they feel pressured by the fans, because of the success of Burrows and Herbert?

This ball club is winning and performing on the field, and that is where the focus should be.

2723970, gotta agree with you, here...
Posted by Dstl1, Tue Oct-20-20 06:22 PM
everyone knows, including Fitzpatrick, that he is a placeholder for Tua...why bring him in, now? Fitz has been doing a good job. The only reason Tua was in Sunday, was because it was mop-up duty. Tua completed two passes and now he's the starter? Had he not made an appearance, Sunday...would they still be starting him. Seems dumb. I feel like they got pressed about the "Did Miami make a mistake by taking Tua?" chatter.
2723972, its fucked up cuz fitz was cheering when tua came in.
Posted by Reeq, Tue Oct-20-20 06:47 PM
he aint know he was taking his job lol.

this is one of the more baffling decisions ive ever seen.

dude took like 3 snaps total in a game where fitz led them to the win.
2723973, lulz, he really was...

he ain't know that he had thrown his last pass.
2723977, Nah it sounds like this was the plan all along
Posted by BrooklynWHAT, Tue Oct-20-20 07:40 PM
I saw a clip of an Interview from maybe a month ago? Where he said he was looking forward to being able to pass the baton onto Tua. And named off some of the QBs he appreciated for being good vets to him when he was the young guy

And they said his whole fam was at this last game. So they probably knew it was a wrap ahead of time
2723980, Right it was probably the plan and as for people hyping Miami’s record...
Posted by ThaTruth, Tue Oct-20-20 08:11 PM
2 of those wins were against the Jets and the Jags.

Giving Tua the job going into the bye week makes sense the Rams will be tough by the next 5 games are Cardinals, Chargers, Broncos, Jets & Bengals.

The need to know what they have in Tua now to make plans for the future.
2723990, You gotta be joking.
Posted by allStah, Wed Oct-21-20 03:08 AM
They lost to the Patriots by 10 points
They lost to the Bills by 3 points
They lost to Seattle by a touchdown

And beat the 49ers 43-17!

Dolphins are competitive as hell.

And since the Bills are trending down and the Patriots are terrible, dolphins
really have a chance at winning the division.

2723992, It’s not like Fitz had been lights out with 5 picks and 4 TD’s...
Posted by ThaTruth, Wed Oct-21-20 06:53 AM
there are reasons why he is a career backup. They weren’t going anywhere with him.
2724041, Man FOH
Posted by allStah, Wed Oct-21-20 02:20 PM
This team is a tough play for any team...and part of that is due to the play of the bearded one.

This is a huge opportunity to win the division, and it’s dumb as hell to go with a rookie right now just to speed up the future. Dude is barely a year removed from a broken and dislocated hip.

I would sit him for the reminder of the year as a precaution...

2724046, and make his first game back be against Aaron Donald, lol...smh
Posted by Dstl1, Wed Oct-21-20 03:17 PM
.
2724052, he's medically cleared, either he can play or he can't, Miami needs...

to know to make future plans and that's not with a 38 year-old journeyman QB
2724065, agree completely
Posted by will_5198, Wed Oct-21-20 10:41 PM
Flores and Grier know that trying to ride a Fitzpatrick hot streak is a sure way to get fired down the line. Miami needs to know what they have in Tua.

bizarre how the media all of a sudden are amplifying Fitzpatrick's hurt feelings, however. you would think Fitzpatrick is doing something incredible right now, but no -- his 10-7 TD-INT ratio and 3-3 record against an aggregate sub-.500 schedule is exactly the mediocrity stop-gap he's known for.
2724071, You ain’t painting the whole picture
Posted by allStah, Thu Oct-22-20 08:25 AM
He has a 70 percent completion rate, and the highest qbr in the league 87.3. Hell Brady has 12 TDs and 4 interceptions with a low qbr and completion rate.

And Miami’s losses we’re against top teams by 7 points or less.

We know Fitz ain’t the future, but the dolphins are right there with a chance to win the division. Miami hasn’t won the division since Dan Marino was their QB.

So with that being said, plus the injury that Tua is coming back from, no need to risk the season or the future of your franchise QB. You always play it safe under these circumstance. They are getting way more out of Fitzpatrick than what they predicted.

2724072, right if Miami were 1-5 or 2-4 nobody would have anything to say lol...
Posted by ThaTruth, Thu Oct-22-20 08:27 AM
but because they were lucky enough to play 2 of the worst teams in the league early has them with a shiny .500 record which ideally is the best situation to put your young QB in as opposed to a losing situation. Its like he basically has a 10 game season to prove himself or do they need to try to look to get in position for a Trevor Lawrence or a Justin Fields.

2724047, lol...I knew it. Dude came in in a blowout...
Posted by Dstl1, Wed Oct-21-20 03:22 PM
that just happened. Miami brass was pressed of people wondering on all the sports shows, if they made a mistake picking Tua. Dude goes in, throws too passes and completes them both...then the shot of him sitting on the field and calling his parents...it was too much for them to resist. I'm pretty indifferent on dude, really. Not a huge CFB fan, so I've got nothing invested. Last time we saw him, his hip got blown apart. I just hope the Miami Oline can protect him from Aaron Donald, Sunday.
2724048, My BIL is still a Chargers fan and really wanted Tua over Herbert
Posted by calij81, Wed Oct-21-20 03:32 PM
He hated the Herbert pick, I told him Herbert would be good, probably better than Tua and just watch. He hasn’t said shit about Herbert since he has been playing.

I’m not saying Tua won’t be good but I think Miami was feeling pressure to play Tua due to Herbert and Burrow playing well.
2724051, the plan was between the GM and the coach lol

2723963, btw Dak still leads the NFL in passing yards by significant margin
Posted by ThaTruth, Tue Oct-20-20 04:03 PM
2723965, Jameis led last year IIRC
Posted by DeepAztheRoot, Tue Oct-20-20 05:05 PM
Cowboys defense is total ass, not surprised Dak tried to keep the team afloat thorugh the air.
2723966, interceptions too right?

Oh boy
2724102, Yeah when he hit the 30 yard line you saw it coming
Posted by calij81, Fri Oct-23-20 09:55 AM
I was surprised he was able to make it down the 8.
2724103, i dont think he's ever ran that fast in his life
Posted by BrooklynWHAT, Fri Oct-23-20 10:02 AM
i saw a stat that he put up the 15th fastest top speed of any ballcarrier all season. hundreths of a second off full speed Tyreek.

now i dont see how that is possible. it doesnt match what i saw. but that mf was MOVING and his body was not prepared for a 100 yard dash lol
2724108, Lol...this is what I described on another post...
Posted by Dstl1, Fri Oct-23-20 11:55 AM
he’s been described as a pretty good athlete. He clearly can run fast, but he probably doesn’t do it often. It’s hard to run top speed for an extended period, lol...

2724111, fam i honestly had no idea he could move like that til this season.
Posted by Reeq, Fri Oct-23-20 01:54 PM
i dont think defenses had any idea either lol.

has dude just been working on his speed and shaving time off his 40 for the last few years?

he had runs 2 weeks in a row that made it look like he legit got burners.

the way he broke past the 2nd level of the defense and nobody was even close to catching him...are defenses even preparing for him to run like that?

seriously this shit is blowing my mind.
2724132, bro, I feel like there was a play last year when he broke north...
Posted by Dstl1, Fri Oct-23-20 05:28 PM
and got to the next level like, that. He wasn't running as fast as he did last night and not for as long, though. He eventually got caught. I think that's what got him. He ran as fast as he ever has and for longer than he imagined, lol. 80 yards is a long time to run full damn speed. Not like he's out there practicing running fast like Tyreek Hill or somebody like that.
2724135, Right I’ve seen a lot of def players running back ints and fumbles....

2724110, Evan Engram SUCKS
Posted by DJR, Fri Oct-23-20 01:22 PM
Flat out never makes a clutch play when you need it. Just constant big drops, horrific blocking, stupid mistakes, and injuries. I can’t wait until he’s not a Giant anymore.

And why the hell is he trying to jump over a DB? Damn Tight End out there playing gymnastics, get the fuck outta here.
2724113, better that then pull a hammy.
Posted by Reeq, Fri Oct-23-20 01:55 PM
dude shoulda dove at the end of the fall tho to make it look extra dramatic.
