2721649, Had to do it.....
Posted by blueeclipse, Mon Sep-28-20 04:24 PM
This shit happened twice with two different squads who were loaded. Something's gotta give. Pleas will be copped but he had to be fired.
2721650, Move Sam over a couple of seats!
Posted by Beezo, Mon Sep-28-20 04:26 PM
2721651, I'd put tyronne leu in charge personally

2721652, Sam goin to HTown
Posted by Dstl1, Mon Sep-28-20 04:28 PM

2721665, Sam would be my choice.

2721653, This is totally premature considering the bubble
Posted by allStah, Mon Sep-28-20 04:36 PM
In the beginning and during, most of the Clippers didn’t even want to be there.
And this isn’t even an excuse, a lot of players didn’t want to be there. From the time players got there, to going on strike, and then having to resume play, how can any
coach be totally held responsible for losing in the bubble?

I’m not copping pleas for Doc or the clippers, but this was his first year with Kawhi and George, and they got Harrell back later after his Grandmother passed. And he clearly wasn’t the same player he was pre-bubble. Same with Lou Williams.

Yeah, clown them for losing, and fry them. I get that. But I think termination is way too extreme.

Unless, Kawhi and George didn’t want him there. That’s the only thing that makes sense.

And Sam Cassell or Ty Lue? Good luck with that.
2721660, When they were up 3-1
Posted by falafel stand pimpin, Mon Sep-28-20 05:34 PM
Did they want to be there?
2722641, i mean he is the motivator and organizer of the team, is he not?
Posted by ConcreteCharlie, Wed Oct-07-20 04:57 PM
they never got on the same page all year.
2721654, What white coach are they about to gift wrap this job for?
Posted by ThaTruth, Mon Sep-28-20 04:39 PM
Lawrence Frank might come out of the front office.
2721667, You are so on brand....
Posted by blueeclipse, Mon Sep-28-20 07:02 PM
lmao
2721706, Are you implying anything I say about the NBA coaching situation...
Posted by ThaTruth, Mon Sep-28-20 11:58 PM
situation is untrue? That it's a "brand"?
2721655, Smh doc may be overrated
Posted by Cenario, Mon Sep-28-20 04:57 PM
But who they gon hire thats def better?
2721657, RE: Smh doc may be overrated
Posted by allStah, Mon Sep-28-20 05:04 PM
Exactly.
2721662, This.
Posted by LeroyBumpkin, Mon Sep-28-20 05:48 PM
They're talking Van Gundy on Twitter and I'm like...
Shoot, just keep Doc then.
2721674, JVG is the Gruden of the NBA.
Posted by Oak27, Mon Sep-28-20 08:14 PM
Every time a big HC position is open he's rumored lol
2721685, Thing is, JVG has never hinted that he wants to return to that life
Posted by RandomFact, Mon Sep-28-20 09:25 PM
pretty sure he's made it clear that he loves his current situation in broadcasting.

dude seems like a simple guy that is more than happy to live his life in the houston suburbs and work like 50 something days or whatever it is over the course of 8 months.

2721707, That Clippers job is not a regular job.
Posted by ThaTruth, Tue Sep-29-20 12:01 AM
2721676, Doc's definitely better than JVG. People are tripping.
Posted by Frank Longo, Mon Sep-28-20 08:23 PM
2721673, Kinda proof that he's underrated tbh.
Posted by Frank Longo, Mon Sep-28-20 08:10 PM
Cuz there's definitely no one available that's *definitely* better than Doc.
2721658, somebody had to be the fall guy...
Posted by CyrenYoung, Mon Sep-28-20 05:22 PM
..Can't say that Doc hasn't had enough time to succeed.

I still think the person responsible for that hilarisad trade that gave up waaaaaay too much for HardBottoms should be fired as well.

*skatin' the rings of saturn*

..and miles to go before i sleep...
2721659, They were overhyped and have time to gel due to "load management"...

Despite the cute nicknames now that trade was considered a coup at the time
2721664, that trade was ridiculous then AND now...
Posted by CyrenYoung, Mon Sep-28-20 06:49 PM
..The only way that trade works is if they actually succeeded in winning it all (and even then, 1 banner wouldn't be enough).

2721661, seems to about cover it
Posted by Rjcc, Mon Sep-28-20 05:37 PM
and I don't understand blaming kawhi for them trading everything -- those aren't his future picks. they ultimately didn't have to do any of those things

www.engadgethd.com - the other stuff i'm looking at
2721663, If they hire Lue, I'm all for it.
Posted by Cold Truth, Mon Sep-28-20 06:16 PM
He, Kawhi, and PG have one year left. The players have opt ins, but whatever. Doc's tenure has been one of persistent underachieving, so I get it.

I just don't see an upgrade out there. I could see this move if there were some big time, championship coach on the market.

Lue fits that bill. So if he gets the nod, I can understand that move, retaining some continuity. I have some trepidation there, since I don't want to see is him inherit a mess that may lose it's two stars next summer, and get stuck with a rebuild.

IMO, just keep Doc, and reup for that last year, and see what happens.

All in all, if they fire Doc to hire Pringles or some shit.. I hope Balmer gets booed out of the building, every home game
2721666, They were already over the relationship with Doc...
Posted by CyrenYoung, Mon Sep-28-20 06:55 PM
..that 3-1 flameout was just icing on the cake.

I still don't see how that team is supposed to improve without draft picks for the next 6 yrs.

We all know that Pringles believes his Run & Shoot offense can work anywhere and if he's their next hire, I'll laugh them out of Staples.

2721668, DOC still eating!
Posted by allStah, Mon Sep-28-20 07:20 PM
He has already been contacted by the pelicans and the sixers.

Excuse me, pilot, please set your course for the eastern conference(sixers).

2721670, I could see him in New Orleans...
Posted by CyrenYoung, Mon Sep-28-20 07:42 PM
..but Philly is a mess.

2721672, NO is the smart move, young team on the upswing
Posted by BrooklynWHAT, Mon Sep-28-20 07:57 PM
They’ll soak up everything he will give them, but he’ll actually have to coach again
2721704, Being rich in LA is probably a blast. I’d just chill and do dumb TV stuff

2721708, what does that mean?
Posted by ThaTruth, Tue Sep-29-20 12:13 AM
>but he’ll
>actually have to coach again
2721717, clippers looked very uncoached to me this year
Posted by BrooklynWHAT, Tue Sep-29-20 08:23 AM
especially compared to the previous year
2721722, that happens when you 2 stars dropped in your lap that barely play...
Posted by ThaTruth, Tue Sep-29-20 09:53 AM
in the regular season due to load management. it was an impossible job to begin with.

Doc probably definitely wants to coach again like every other coach. I don't why its implied that he's different.
2721726, oh i meant that moreso in the type of job that he wants
Posted by BrooklynWHAT, Tue Sep-29-20 10:17 AM
does he want a job where he has to mold/develop a young and inexperienced roster and really grind?

or a more ready made roster where its more about managing people/egos like this year

i'd be shocked if he just flat out was done with coaching.
2721720, I think he’s a bad fit for Philly
Posted by pretentious username, Tue Sep-29-20 09:13 AM

>Excuse me, pilot, please set your course for the eastern

I don’t think they need a coach who is gonna be a friend to Embiid and Simmons, they need a “tough love” coach.
2721694, PG is cancerous to the league and his teammates (c) KG

2721833, Clippers are done for the next decade
Posted by blackfoot_female, Wed Sep-30-20 07:52 PM
Doc didn't get them over the hump, but there isn't a better coach available unless they talk Mark Jackson into coming. No draft picks, very little money, Harrell I think needs a new contract and will get more than this year,
2721834, They still got a window right now
Posted by DJR, Wed Sep-30-20 08:13 PM
They’ll definitely bottom out down the road a little bit, but they still got a window. They’ve got Kawhi and George in their primes.
2721953, George in his prime or not isn't winning them shit
Posted by blackfoot_female, Thu Oct-01-20 08:33 PM
.
2721835, Report has it that Doc was fired because of Montrez Harrell.
Posted by allStah, Wed Sep-30-20 08:15 PM
The organization and players were perplexed as to why he was
giving more minutes to Harrell over Zubak. Based on stats, the clippers
were better with Zubak on the floor, and would regress with Harrell on the floor,
especially defensively.

I don’t think the clippers need two offensive sixth men off the bench, who can’t play defense. Since Harrell is undersized, and lacks the ability to play interior defense, I would be shocked if they bring him back.

my reaction exactly 😐

On one hand he’s got the chip pedigree

On the other, he’s got the recent history of not getting over the hump

...and that’s where this team currently is...stuck on under achieving

On one hand, I have every confidence he will get in Jo’s a$$

On the other, he’s kinda been at this for a long time now and I could see Jo’s antics being unbearable

Officially meh for me

I wanted Lue FTR

But at least we don’t have to pretend BB is actually a HC.
2721943, Joel Embiid saiid they added Doc to a deep coaching staff
Posted by Cenario, Thu Oct-01-20 05:59 PM
Bc he could be the coach...Ben Simmons could be the coach some days.

Posted by ThaTruth, Mon Oct-12-20 12:32 PM
job or is he seen as part of that failed regime?

Supposedly he was initially the favorite for the Lakers job but they tried to low ball him.

He was supposed to be on Brooklyn's short list and we saw how that player out.

There's speculation that he has insight with David Griffin in New Orleans but now there's rumor's he's looking at Kidd to help mentor Lonzo.

https://www.latimes.com/sports/sportsnow/la-sp-sn-clippers-thunder-live-game-5-20140513-htmlstory.html

I had forgotten about Doc’s first season with the Clippers the year before they blew the 3-1 lead to Houston, they were discussing this on a Simmons podcast with Jared Dudley, Clippers were up on OKC by 7 with 49 seconds and fell apart, not a good look for Doc or CP3...
