2721528, MLB Playoffs are set!
Posted by Dstl1, Sun Sep-27-20 06:23 PM
Kinda excited. Gonna spend a lot of time with my pops watching these.

Best of three Wild Card Series, starting Tuesday

AL
1 Rays vs. 8 Blue Jays
2 A’s vs. 7 White Sox
3 Twins vs. 6 Astros
4 Indians vs. 5 Yankees

NL
1 Dodgers vs. 8 Brewers
2 Braves vs. 7 Reds
3 Cubs vs. 6 Marlins
4 Padres vs. 5 Cards

2721530, Braves pitching worries me. I'm not optimistic
Posted by CherNic, Sun Sep-27-20 06:32 PM
We just flame the fuck out in the playoffs. I don't get it.
2721551, Reds energy right now kinda scary too
Posted by Heinz, Sun Sep-27-20 09:18 PM
They’ve been playing pretty well

2721553, Maybe Freddie can hit y’all through...he looks locked in

2721816, Freddie!! Won’t he do it?

2721889, I turned it off after the 11th lol. I couldn't take it

2721920, Damn...look at what the Falcons have done to you. 😭
Posted by Dstl1, Thu Oct-01-20 01:57 PM
.
2721925, it's REAL lmao
Posted by CherNic, Thu Oct-01-20 02:28 PM
I don't really have an NBA team, and I refuse to root for UGA but the Falcons and Braves have let the city down enough.

Our first post season series win since 2001? You shittin me?!
2721571, A's kind of scuffled into the play-offs
Posted by mrhood75, Mon Sep-28-20 01:54 AM
Chapman going out for the year really sucked. Only Canha, Lauriano, and Semien are doing anything close to hitting right now. Bassit is really good, and Manea and Montas came on close to the end, but the starting pitching has been pretty inconsistent. The bullpen is nails tho, and that will be important.

I've seen teams come into the play-offs red hot and flame out. And I've seen teams stumble their way in and win it all. Can't really call it either way.
2721742, Greinke in trouble, early

2721761, damn...4 runs in the 9th. You hate to see it.

2721764, Houston’s manager should be shot multiple times
Posted by allStah, Tue Sep-29-20 05:38 PM
You’re in a 1-1 game and you bring in Fucking Romo?

He has a dreadful 10 era, and is horrible in the regular season and post season. Only thing he has is a slider, if that. He has no command, which is why his fastball sucks. Dude should not even be in the majors.

I don’t give a fock about the error, because even with the error no runner scored. He allowed runners on base in the first place, and then he walked in the go ahead run, and got blasted after that.

He should have been pulled after the walk in run.

Baseball PO is mostly about strategy, and who will be the first to make a mistake....and Houston was the first to make a mistake...

Hats off to Baker for paying attention to analytics and pulling Zack. Valdez’ breaking ball was not hittable, which spelled Doom for Minnesota....hitters have no plate patience.

2721817, Correction: Minnesota’s manager
Posted by allStah, Wed Sep-30-20 03:58 PM
I was so livid with that pitching change...totally killed Minnesota’s runline.
2721769, In the AL: Go Canada/Buffalo!!
Posted by DJR, Tue Sep-29-20 06:46 PM
Law of averages says its gotta be the Dodgers year. We’ve been the best team in baseball 3 of the last 4 years. We gotta win one eventually.
2721775, Yankees gave Bieber that work
Posted by Dstl1, Tue Sep-29-20 08:25 PM
.
2721777, Thing about the yanks is they can hit everything.
Posted by allStah, Tue Sep-29-20 09:11 PM
Breaking balls, fast balls...does not matter.

Now if they can all just stay healthy, which is hard for them to do because them dudes
are Juiced to the max.

I look at Stanton and hold my breath every time he rounds the bases...
2721811, Braves with one on, Bottom 12
Posted by Dstl1, Wed Sep-30-20 03:05 PM
.
2721812, Reds just had bases loaded with 1 out
Posted by DJR, Wed Sep-30-20 03:36 PM
Can’t believe the Braves got out of that.
2721813, right
Posted by Dstl1, Wed Sep-30-20 03:38 PM
.
2721814, Minnesota caught the quick fade...
Posted by Dstl1, Wed Sep-30-20 03:41 PM
That best of 3 is hurtful. Came in yesterday morning full of hope...and it’s over like 24 hours later. I was pulling for them, too.
2721815, Yeah, the Garbage Can squad has gotta go
Posted by DJR, Wed Sep-30-20 03:45 PM
Though, I would love for my Dodgers to get another chance at them.
2721818, 18 straight PO loses
Posted by allStah, Wed Sep-30-20 04:07 PM
18 straight, not one win. You have to question and dissect your entire franchise, from top to bottom.

Enough talent to get to the playoffs, but an extremely low baseball IQ to excel once there.

Why is Sergio Romo on the team, and why was he used? If I’m an owner, that’s the first question asked.
2721819, Rays at Ryu’s neck

.
2721820, Oh, so NOW Grandal can hit in the playoffs
Posted by DJR, Wed Sep-30-20 04:40 PM
Could’ve used that more than a few times.

Reportedly he was always banged up by playoff time in LA. Short season this year is probably helping him.
2721922, i mean his defense was the worst part of him during playoffs
Posted by RobOne4, Thu Oct-01-20 02:01 PM
2721924, his playoff batting average was .107 with the Dodgers
Posted by DJR, Thu Oct-01-20 02:18 PM
8 for 75. 35 strikeouts.

Hitting and behind the plate...he couldn’t do anything with us, come playoff time.
2721821, White Sox still alive for this game
Posted by allStah, Wed Sep-30-20 04:45 PM
We got the bats, and thank you As for taking out Bassitt. We weren’t hitting him.
Now we are jumping on Hendricks. And Sox can hit those sliders, and his fastball
Ain’t all that.

Hendricks on 26 pitches already. ..bullshit strike 3 call though. That was a walk.

Let’s close them out Sox. Let’s eat here.
2721822, we got two runs in.
Posted by allStah, Wed Sep-30-20 04:49 PM
One more at bat inning left...hopefully they leave Hendricks in for the 9th.
2721825, 2 hits, top of the 9th!!
Posted by allStah, Wed Sep-30-20 05:06 PM
2 outs though. They are jumping on Hendricks again. Let’s go.

I’m still pissed over that bullshit strike 3 call in the 8th inning ...that really killed the momentum

2721827, Goldy, have some!!!
Posted by Dstl1, Wed Sep-30-20 05:12 PM
.
2721828, That’s aight.
Posted by allStah, Wed Sep-30-20 05:17 PM
Great way to fight Sox. We went down with our best player ( and most likely MVP)at the plate.

Close these dudes out next game..
2721829, Fucking Bob Melvin
Posted by mrhood75, Wed Sep-30-20 05:28 PM
Having Hendricks try to do a six-out save was about the dumbest move possible. And now he's not available tomorrow.

I'm guessing Fiers pitches tomorrow, based on the numbers. Plus, he threw a tantrum last year when he didn't pitch the one-game play-off.

If the team can keep on hitting like this did the first five innings, they can do this.
2721831, Need some insurance runs...these dudes hit too good
Posted by Dstl1, Wed Sep-30-20 07:18 PM

2721888, Later, Cleveland...Yankees/Rays on deck

2721919, Ozuna might have just hit Cincy with the RKO on the folding table
Posted by Dstl1, Thu Oct-01-20 01:56 PM
.
2721934, Matt Foster melting down...walked in the tying and go ahead runs
Posted by Dstl1, Thu Oct-01-20 04:19 PM

2721945, Sox season down to 3 outs
Posted by Dstl1, Thu Oct-01-20 06:15 PM

2721946, ...no pulse, ya gone (c)
Posted by Dstl1, Thu Oct-01-20 06:19 PM
.
2721947, Well, Melvin Forest Gumped his way out of that one.
Posted by mrhood75, Thu Oct-01-20 06:30 PM
Ended up having to pitch Hendricks because there was no one left. Hendricks was strong enough to bounce back and strike out the side.

Still was a dumb move to pitch him in the 8th yesterday.
2721951, Congrats.
Posted by allStah, Thu Oct-01-20 07:15 PM
Hell of a game to be wasted on a three game series.

However, had Crochet not gotten injured that would have been lights out for the As.
I’m not sure what the hell happened. He struck two batters out, and they said his velocity dropped to 97 mph after that...lol. The dude avg 100 mph per pitch. Im like that was a sign of an issue? He looked fine to me.

Renteria starting a rookie for a close out game was mindless. Kid got yanked in the first inning. He should have started Crochet.

Then he makes another mistake. Rookie pitcher was in, and he decides to walk a batter to set up the double play, and it backfired.

We had so many chances to close out this game, but blew it.

16 pitchers were used for this game. That is the most pitchers used for a 9 inning game.

Tim Anderson is a fucking stud. He is the first player in MLB history to get 9 hits for 3 PO games. And he is the second player in MLB history to get 3 hits in 3 consecutive PO games.

Jose Abreu had an outstanding year. He is the best player in baseball this season, and will win the AL MVP

The future is bright as hell. We will be back.

2721949, Bottom 2nd, we already put 4 runs on they heads!

The second coming of Alex Rodriguez....especially when he was in Seattle.

I wanted Sox vs Padres in the WS

But I will take Yankees vs Padres

Cardinals bullpen might be cooked ...they have used so many pitchers.
But Cards got some hitters too...so who knows

Players are going to be too fatigued.

2721999, RE: Kershaw was a G
Posted by allStah, Fri Oct-02-20 11:27 AM
No fans, no road trips...You know in a regular setting dude would be choking. He has never performed like this in his life in the PO. So I’m not sure he has truly conquered his PO demons.

We are seeing some insane performances from pitchers, where there is no hostility to rattle them. That braves/ reds game where both pitches and bullpens were pitching lights out in PO game for the entire game.

Lucas Giolito, the pitcher for my White Sox, damn near pitched a perfect game in the PO. Had he succeeded, he would have stood with Don Larsen as the only 2 pitchers to throw a perfect game in the PO.

2722000, I won't disagree, I know my Cardinals have gotten in that ass a couple...
Posted by ThaTruth, Fri Oct-02-20 11:36 AM
of times in the playoffs but last night when Kershaw basically waived off being pulled and finished the inning was tough although I agree it might've been a lot different with fans in the stands
2722035, He’s pitched some great games in the playoffs
Posted by DJR, Fri Oct-02-20 03:47 PM
Some of his worst moments were them putting him in bad positions - bringing him out of the bullpen, pitching him on 3 days rest, or leaving him in way too long like when the Cardinals eventually got him in that 2013 game. Some guys are built for that stuff...he isn’t. So cut the bullshit like he’s some magic pill, trust your team, and pitch him on 4 days rest like you do all season long, and he’ll be fine.

And that’s not to say that he hasn’t come up short. Overall he has, and has to own that. But acting like this was the first great game he ever pitched in the playoffs is pure BS. He’s had some dominant performances every time we’ve played the Braves, he owned the Cubs in the NLCS a few years ago, was dominant against the Astros in game 1 of the world series(7 innings, 1 run, 11 Ks), etc.
2722045, He is 9-11 with a 4.43 ERA in the Post Season.
Posted by allStah, Fri Oct-02-20 04:54 PM
We know he is one of the greatest pitchers of all time, but let’s not pretend that
he would have easily had that same killer game if he were pitching in front of
a hostile crowd.

In pressure situations, game on the line he has been crap.!

Last year, Game 5, the dodgers were 6 outs away from returning to the NL Championship series. Clayton gave up back to back home runs.

Can’t really give him a lot of credit for yesterday’s game. No hate.
2722056, none of that has much to do with anything I said
Posted by DJR, Fri Oct-02-20 07:25 PM
Those back to back homers were off him being brought out of the bullpen. He shouldn’t have been used like that. He’s not good at it.

Guess he didn’t feel the pressure when he dominated game 1 of the World Series?
2723840, he gets all the credit for that game
Posted by blackfoot_female, Sun Oct-18-20 08:32 PM
you're just fucking weird
2722047, yes he was. he gets all the credit for last nights game
Posted by blackfoot_female, Fri Oct-02-20 05:12 PM
What a great pitching performance. I wish they let him try to finish it, but I understand pulling him.

2722306, Rays over Yankees in 5.
Posted by Marbles, Mon Oct-05-20 09:35 AM

The quest to be Titletown 2020 continues.
2722422, You sure about that?
Posted by allStah, Tue Oct-06-20 04:30 PM
Yankees crushed them in the first game. And the whole squad is healthy.
And they can hit everything. They can put the ball in play or pull it.

Rays are going to have to really score.
2722576, Yanks are always dangerous but I believe in my squad
Posted by Marbles, Wed Oct-07-20 09:33 AM

Their bats are strong but I give our pitching staff just the slightest edge over their hitting in this series.

And if we continue to hit like we did last night, our odds increase tremendously. I'mma stick with my prediction.
2722415, Braves came with them sticks

2722760, Pay $25 a month for MLBTV and can’t even watch the Dodger playoff game
Posted by DJR, Thu Oct-08-20 08:34 PM
Fuck everybody responsible for all this hoop jumping bullshit. MLB is retarded. They’ll have no fans left soon, because of their archaic stupid shit.
2722761, What??? What you got for your streaming service, fam? Outside...
Posted by Dstl1, Thu Oct-08-20 08:49 PM
of MLBtv?
2722762, Hulu Live
Posted by DJR, Thu Oct-08-20 09:48 PM
I’ve jumped around from YouTubeTV to SlingTV, now to Hulu over the last year. Figures the one I have right now is the one that doesn’t have MLBN, and my MLBTV subscription only gets me some damn Charlie Steiner radio broadcast for the playoffs, smh. At least I’ll get some more sleep tonight.
2722768, Google “cracked streams mlb”
Posted by blackfoot_female, Thu Oct-08-20 10:49 PM
That works great every time
2722779, Thank you
Posted by DJR, Fri Oct-09-20 07:49 AM
I was looking for Streams but apparently reddit streams isn’t really a thing anymore. I knew there had to be some replacements, but I was lost.
2722780, I've been killing this and a couple other sites
Posted by CherNic, Fri Oct-09-20 08:16 AM
I moved in March and didn't get cable. Helped a ton with the NBA bubble and early playoff rounds.
2722776, Gotcha. I ditched Sling the day before the NFL season...
Posted by Dstl1, Fri Oct-09-20 06:00 AM
when I realized they didn’t have Redzone. Funny thing is, I remember them saying back in July, they were losing Redzone and NFL Network, but were hoping to get them back. It was the summertime and I didn’t really trip at the moment. I don’t watch NFL Network. So, the day before, just checking to make sure I was ready, it all came back to me, lol. Hopped on Reddit and folks were in a frenzy. A dude said he talked to Sling, that morning and they were still trying to work out a deal. I said fuck it. I never really loved Sling, anyway. I only got it because PlayStation VUE went out of business and it was the only one that had everything I wanted at the moment. Anyway, I grabbed a YouTube tv free trial and been rocking with them, ever since. Crazy, Sling did get Redzone and NFL Network back...Sunday morning, before Week 1 started. YouTube tv way better, though. Not cheaper, but better.
2722777, Yeah, YouTubeTV is easily the best of the 3 IMO
Posted by DJR, Fri Oct-09-20 06:59 AM
I cancelled youtube back in the spring when no sports were on.

Once sports restarted I went with sling because YouTube had raised the prices by like $15 in that time span of a few months. Was content with sling until I realized a Lakers playoff game was on ABC - which my digital antennae doesn’t pull in. So I got Hulu on the spot. My issues with it: no MLBN, which I just realized. And the interface is not nearly as easy to use as YouTube. Unnecessarily complicated to find the channel guide. I’ll probably switch back to YouTube next b-ball/baseball season. With my Giants being terrible, I might just drop TV all together for a few months once baseball wraps up.
2722783, yeah, YTTV did give me a bit of sticker shock...
Posted by Dstl1, Fri Oct-09-20 08:55 AM
when I saw what it was gonna be to have what I wanted...but it's got everything I want and it's the easiest to navigate, I can watch on 3 tv's at once...period (none of that 1 stream on Orange, 3 on Blue bullshit with Sling), it's got unlimited DVR and it broadcasts a beautiful picture...which is great since I just copped a new tv and the app is one of the apps built into my LG tv. So, I don't need any device to use it. I looked at Hulu real quick, but no Redzone was a deal breaker. I looked at Tuvo, but it was just as high as YTTV and the picture was shitty...plus I would have had to watch it through my Firestick or my PS4.
2722788, YouTube TV has noticeably better picture quality?
Posted by will_5198, Fri Oct-09-20 09:11 AM
I felt Sling was a fuzzy 720p half the time for major broadcasts
2722793, Always seemed better than Sling to me in that regard as well
Posted by DJR, Fri Oct-09-20 09:35 AM
2722797, yes, absolutely...you can actually check with the remote...
Posted by Dstl1, Fri Oct-09-20 10:07 AM

all locals CRYSTAL CLEAR.
2722781, Well okay Braves
Posted by CherNic, Fri Oct-09-20 08:18 AM
I hope all those selfies don't come back to bite us in the ass but that was a solid sweep vs Miami. Pitching on point, bats woke up a bit, overcame a couple defensive blunders (that play by Markakis in game 2 was so clutch)

On to the NLCS!
2722785, Seeing the Padres get boat-raced in 3 games...
Posted by Dstl1, Fri Oct-09-20 09:01 AM
makes me even more annoyed. We had them in Game 2. They weren't hitting, short series and the lead into the 6th inning. Then our bullpen fuckin blew it...got them all feeling good. A 3 game series was perfect, to get them out in 2 games and we were 3 innings away. That being said...our bats were way too shaky and we would have gotten served in the next round. Braves/Dodgers should be a lot of fun. I called Braves/Yankees at the beginning. Yanks/Rays in a winner take all, this evening and the Astros await the winner. Fuck, Oakland...you had ONE job!!
2722792, braves yankees in 96 was my first sports heartbreak
Posted by CherNic, Fri Oct-09-20 09:30 AM
I was 10. In love with Andruw Jones. Up 2-0 and fucking blew it.
2722796, yep...Andruw was my DUDE...
Posted by Dstl1, Fri Oct-09-20 10:04 AM
and he had his coming out party against...wait for it...the Cardinals. Up 3-1 in the NLCS and lost. I wasn't even really mad, cuz that Braves team was so dope. Andruw, Chipper, Javy Lopez, Avery/Glavine/Maddux/Smoltz, Terry Pendleton, Crime Dog!!, Marquis Grissom, David Justice, Jermaine Dye, Belliard....that's just off the top, I prolly forgot a lot of good names, lol.
2722866, Cole vs. Glasnow....LET'S GO!!

He is on three days rest.
2722869, true...so, is Glasnow...
Posted by Dstl1, Fri Oct-09-20 06:48 PM
but this is why they gave him 300 million trillion dollars. To pitch twice in a 5 game series. Looks like he is settling down after getting out of that jam, though.
2722870, He has more than earned his money this year.
Posted by allStah, Fri Oct-09-20 07:05 PM
I’m not a big fan on pitching pitchers on anything less than 4 days rest, especially
when the body isn’t use to it. That’s why teams should have deep bullpens. So if they win, he will not be able to start in game 1.

It messes up the rotation.
2722876, not questioning if he deserved or earned it...
Posted by Dstl1, Fri Oct-09-20 07:38 PM
but the Yankees didn't sign Gerrit Cole to win a Wild Card Series...they signed him to win a championship...and since the first inning hiccups, he's out there being a horse...just like they hoped he would.

It's not his fault his team is Win by the Homer, Die by the Homer. It's why the Padres lost. It's why the Blue Jays always lose. It's easier to get shutdown by elite pitching in the Postseason that way. Balanced offences usually win. I wish my Jays be more balanced. More situational hitters are key, it's why the Mookie signing was clutch. He balances them way more. Look at him pick up the slack while Belli tries to jack homers and have a shitty season doing it.

Mookie and Trout are great balances of knowing when to swing for the fences when they get the pitch, but they are all about situational hitting.

Woke up to 5-1 like huh? Granted I didn't watch a single Dodgers game this season but those Fox announcers were slobbering over them. They're deeper, more versatile, explosive and yea this was just one game but I'm damn proud of the Braves lol.

They've been hosting watch parties down here for the past two rounds and if the Braves make the series I'm VERY tempted to go. Socially distanced, mask unless eating, etc etc. It's absolutely foolish lmao but I want to be around other fans
2723397, yes, in the eyes of most baseball media...
Posted by Dstl1, Tue Oct-13-20 11:23 AM
the Braves are clearly quick layover on the way to the Dodgers' coronation.

2723475, He is responsible for most of the runs in this series ...crazy.
Posted by allStah, Tue Oct-13-20 10:03 PM
It should have been a routine out, zero runs should not have scored.

However, Baker should have never taken out Aquidis ..or however you spell his name. He was pitching a gem, and the runners advancing was on Altuve.

Bullpen has been a big let down as well.

11 runs in 1st inning. now up 12 - 0 top of 2nd, no outs.

most runs in an inning in postseason history.
2723530, Dodgers came with those bats tonight.
Posted by allStah, Wed Oct-14-20 06:04 PM
Mookie makes a huge difference. It all started by him beating out a throw at first.
2723531, Bellinger is ON ONE...this is incredible...
Posted by Dstl1, Wed Oct-14-20 06:35 PM
Snitker has to be really careful how he plays the rest of this game...you can't blow your team up with hopes of winning this one, at the cost of the next games.

2723639, We got 1 hit against a scrub
Posted by DJR, Thu Oct-15-20 09:15 PM
Bats have been pure TRASH other than 1 inning, all series. Ultimate front runners. Not Kershaw’s fault at all.

We’ll probably hit some hoe ass solo bombs late to make it “close” though.
2723642, Scrub?
Posted by allStah, Thu Oct-15-20 09:25 PM
That’s a rookie, who out pitched Krenshaw Clay.

2723643, He pitched 15 innings this year
