2720902, Active NFL Hall of Fame LOCKS...
Posted by ThaTruth, Mon Sep-21-20 02:25 PM
like if they never played another game after today they're IN...

I got:

Brady
Brees
Rodgers
Petersen
Peterson
Sherman
Fitzgerald
Gore
Julio
Gronk
Donald
Watt
Miller

probably some o-linemen but I didn't feel like talking about them someone else can...

on the fence:
Roethlisberger
Rivers
Wilson

who else?
2720903, your 3 on the fence guys are locks.
Posted by PROMO, Mon Sep-21-20 02:32 PM
2720905, I know right.
Posted by allStah, Mon Sep-21-20 02:46 PM
Lolll

This dude said Ben is on the fence. He is a rapist, but not on the fence. He is the Steelers greatest QB ever.

Russell Wilson on the fence? He is Seattle’s greatest QB ever ...and if gets more rings could go down as the greatest QB ever
2720920, Rivers is a lock?

Yes..on stats only.

Same trajectory as Dan Fouts.....put up the numbers but never came close to winning a super bowl.

Do you hate light skin black people? It seems like the whiter they are the more you hate.

2720936, YES IF HIS CAREER ENDED TODAY.
Posted by PROMO, Mon Sep-21-20 04:36 PM
Like c'mon man.

One day people REALLY gonna examine what Russ did in his career. He's built his career throwing to "more or less" nobodies (I mean, some solid WRs but no one CRAZY...and ALSO some BUMS that he made look good) in an offense that was and continues to be HEAVILY run focused.

Then you look at some HOF'ers who he is getting close to stats wise and what they had to work with?
2720938, I know you’re a Seattle guy and all but without 40k+ yds & 250+tds...
Posted by ThaTruth, Mon Sep-21-20 04:53 PM
I don’t see it
2720940, he went from game manager type to MVP candidate
Posted by pretentious username, Mon Sep-21-20 05:15 PM
has a ring and another SB appearance. He's in.
2720942, i know you won't believe me but my outlook isn't a Seattle thing.
Posted by PROMO, Mon Sep-21-20 05:30 PM
it's a facts/logic thing.

shit, i had to hold an "L" locally for a minute because i was going HOARD on the "In Like Flynn" tip when Russell came in and stole the job from Matt Flynn. even AFTER he got the job for about 6 games i was like "we made a terrible mistake" then i finally saw the light.

i mean, Russ' career stats would be insane if they let him throw the ball from the jump. you do know that "Let Russ Cook" is an ACTUAL campaign here in Seattle that's been running for at least 3 years with fans and that Peter Carroll knows VERY well about meaning we're begging you to let Russ sling the rock.
2720948, Do you have Eli in? Do you have Matt Ryan in?
Posted by ThaTruth, Mon Sep-21-20 06:13 PM
2720949, Eli? You mean the guy who threw for 60K yards and won 2 rings?
Posted by PROMO, Mon Sep-21-20 06:34 PM
Uh yeah. First ballot 100% of the votes.

Matt Ryan is more tricky because he's a loser, but he's in off stats.

Like, this ISN'T that hard my guy. Look up these guys' careers on Pro Football Reference then scroll to the bottom of their first page and see their comparisons.

For THESE two? ALL HOFers.

2720952, I mostly agree but stat comparisons to past greats are tricky
Posted by DJR, Mon Sep-21-20 07:20 PM
The “bad” starting QBs now put up numbers that would’ve been elite in the 80s and 90s.

I think Eli is in off the two rings, but without them he wouldn’t be in. I don’t think Ryan is in.....unless they’re going to start putting in like 1/3 of the starting QBs. Ryan has been good but he hasn’t ever really been one of the best in the league other than maybe one or two random seasons.
2720954, RE: Eli? You mean the guy who threw for 60K yards and won 2 rings?

That’s what I’m looking at and less than 40k yards and 250 tds Russ is not in.
2720958, I think you're wrong.
Posted by PROMO, Mon Sep-21-20 09:26 PM
Because if his career ended right today it'd be because of death or injury...they'd look at all he accomplished including being a pro bowler like every season, going to back to back SBs and winning one (shoulda been two but ya know)...and theyd still put him in off what shoulda been had his career not been cut short PLUS what he already accomplished.
2726900, nvm wrong reply

.
2720964, if Matt played anywhere besides Atlanta he'd be a lock
Posted by Ray_Snill, Mon Sep-21-20 11:13 PM
I'm willing to be most of yall have never seen him play over the course of a season. Joe Flacco won a playoff game going 4-10 for 34 yards. Matt went 17 for 23 and 284 yards in a Super Bowl and lost. give Matt any semblance of a defense and we win the Super Bowl in 2012 and 2016. heck in 2017 with Steve Sarkisian as his OC he had his best statistic season, even better than his MVP year. Brees along with Brady & Rodgers until recently have been in the same system for years, Matt will ball out for a few years then have to learn a new system after he's made his coach a HC. Mike Mularkey, Dirk Koetter, Kyle Shanahan and Matt Lafleur all parlayed coaching Matt into a head coaching gig. people say Julio is a lock, well there was one guy throwing to him his whole career.

You don’t see it with Russell Wilson?

He is arguably the best QB right now.

They just did a stat showing that he is the most accurate active deep ball thrower.

And the most accurate active over the SHOULDER deep ball thrower. Shit is crazy.

I still have Aaron Rodgers as the greatest QB I have ever seen...but Russ is closing in fast.

2720950, speaking of what you said, Russ is SECOND ALL TIME PASSER RTG.

I know he was active last year.

A lot of players are sitting out due to the pandemic....

It says he is a free agent at the moment ...so still active , not retired

2720956, Did Suggs get a ring with KC last season?

their respective careers. As good as he’s been, he’s only guided 3 winning teams. McNabb played in the NFC championship 5 times in his career. McNabb had a pretty sharp decline though and most people say he’s either on the fence or a straight no.

People in here are saying Rivers is a lock, so who knows...
2720961, Unless he has a major career resurgence and takes New England...

2720978, peak Bobby Wagner is a lock

he probably needs a few more years of tackle stat-padding though
2720986, yup. and as long as he's healthy he'll pad those stats and go in.
Posted by PROMO, Tue Sep-22-20 11:07 AM
2726920, I love Wags & checked tackle stats from some comps. 2 things
Posted by GOMEZ, Fri Dec-04-20 07:11 PM
1. Tackle stats are weird. they're a lot like assists in the NBA. Not quite as subjective, but still. Also the first comp i wanted to look at was a dude like Mike Singletary cuz he was the standard. they didn't even count tackles officially until 2001. No surprise Ray Lewis the GOAT.

2. Wags still has some ground to cover. I think he gets there, but in my mind he'd already done enough. I'm a homer, though. In looking at the numbers he's still fringe. I've watched just about all of his games, and I've seen Seattle's D with him and without him. He's a huge difference maker and half of fame level good, but has a ways to go to be a lock. 2 or 3 more seasons and he's matching dudes like Urlacher in career stats. He's already ahead of Urlacher in All Pro (5 vs 4).

2726870, leading the worst defense in the league?
Posted by ThaTruth, Thu Dec-03-20 06:55 PM
2726895, you do realize defense is 11 players?
Posted by PROMO, Fri Dec-04-20 10:11 AM
look at his stats, this year and historically.

i believe he just became the 3rd LB ever to record at least 100 tackles in his first 9 seasons.

https://www.seattletimes.com/sports/seahawks/seahawks-coach-pete-carroll-says-theres-no-longer-doubting-it-bobby-wagner-is-headed-to-the-hall-of-fame/

From the article:

"“He’s a Hall of Famer,” Carroll said Wednesday in the wake of Wagner’s latest accomplishment during the 23-17 victory Monday over the Eagles — surpassing 100 tackles for a ninth consecutive season. In the past 20 years, only one player has a longer streak (London Fletcher, 14). Wagner’s 1,174 tackles are the most in the NFL since he entered the league in 2012 and the most in Seahawks history, a record he claimed a year ago."

He's about to get his 7th Pro Bowl and 6th (!!!) First Team All Pro.

the defense is bad because of a lack of interior talent. Dunlap came and that started to change immediately.

i can't even FATHOM how terrible we'd be on defense WITHOUT B Wagz.

2726902, he'll have to wait behind people like Zach Thomas and Luke Kuechly
Posted by ThaTruth, Fri Dec-04-20 11:24 AM
2726904, well, since both of those guys careers are done, IF those two get in...
Posted by PROMO, Fri Dec-04-20 11:37 AM
the of course Wagner will be coming after them.

if Kuechly is any kind of lock, it's cuz he was a quality white guy because he doesn't have the resume or stats IMO just based on his injury history interfering with his opportunity to get those things (not his fault just is what it is).

but remember Wagner and Kuechly were in the same draft and were unanimously 1a & 1b WHILE Kuechly was playing with SOME PEOPLE (me, but also some journalists and talking heads aka the people who matter to the avg fan) considered Wagner to be better.

2726907, I've never heard anybody say "we had to get ready for Bobby Wagner!"

I don't know anybody outside of Seattle fans that consider Wagner better than Kuechly
2726908, well, then you don't pay enough attention to sports or the NFL.
Posted by PROMO, Fri Dec-04-20 12:25 PM
but that's obvious with your takes in this post.

ask any coaches if they are like "we have to get ready for Bobby Wagner."

if you need to educate yourself, here's what 50 NFL coaches, scouts and execs think of him.

https://www.fieldgulls.com/2020/7/15/21326038/bobby-wagner-espn-list-best-linebackers-positional-top-10-rankings-seattle-seahawks

funny they mention his pass defense, because what stands out to me most from the last game vs. the Eagles is Wagner chasing Dallas Goedert 30 yards down the field and breaking up a pass from Wentz.

just admit you don't know anything about him and keep it moving. you sound like an idiot.

LOL.
2726909, don't take it personal, I know you're a Seattle guy lol...

lock on the field; not sure how the writers will judge him because they just go by counting stats. but one of the best interior DL of his generation.
2726831, Playing for Cinci won't help his cause but I think he'll make it
Posted by ConcreteCharlie, Thu Dec-03-20 01:30 PM
Even looking at stats he's had probably half a dozen seasons with 8-10 sacks, a bunch of Pro Bowl and some all-pro selections, etc. He should make it, especially as the DT position has come up in value.
2720981, Devin McCourty for longevity
Posted by will_5198, Tue Sep-22-20 10:29 AM
missed 3 games in 10 years, started pretty much every defensive snap for Belichick, contributes on special teams, team captain for 3 Super Bowl champions.

he doesn't have the highs of other defenders, but he has Frank Gore-esque steadiness on defense.
2726437, Hall of Very Good, not HOF

2726863, Lavonte David should be on this list.
Posted by dillinjah, Thu Dec-03-20 06:26 PM
Mostly due to how terrible tampa has been his entire career, most folks don't know how good he's been.

If you compare his numbers to Luke Kuechly (who's considered a lock by most folks), they're on par.
2726867, Fo sho. Bobby Wagner is going in and they both started 2012.
Posted by PROMO, Thu Dec-03-20 06:50 PM
So Lavonte has to be in.

no way he doesn't get in.
2726887, He is on the outside looking in.
Posted by allStah, Fri Dec-04-20 12:36 AM
His first five years had him on his way, but he regressed on the back end of his career.

Hall of fame radar:

“Timing can matter for players, and it has been weird for Suh. The 2010 No. 2 pick was a four-time Pro Bowler and a three-time All-Pro during his five seasons in Detroit. He looked to be firmly on a Hall trajectory at that point, but over the ensuing five seasons, he has just one Pro Bowl appearance. He has stayed healthy and productive, so that hasn’t been the issue. The Nebraska product nearly won a Super Bowl with the Rams in 2018, but a win with the Bucs and one more All-Pro appearance would greatly help his chances.”

He needs to have a few more pro bowl years to be a lock or a super bowl win, plus his reputation will not give him any points either.
2726889, His rep will be a problem, no way around that

Seven 800 + yard seasons while you at it.
