So people have a right to cry. The NCAA basketball tourney is a fair competitive structure, that shows no favoritism or privilege to power conferences. The ranking and seeding of teams are not based on an eye test, or some unproven mechanism to determine the status or talent level of a team.

The college football PO system is a flawed system that does not properly determine who the best teams in the nation are. A committee selects the top teams based on perception, and that process usually favors the power conferences. It’s a system that is biased, so mid major teams don’t get the recognition and support that they deserve.

Unfortunately, there will never be a perfect system for college football, but the goal is to get close to perfect. An 8 team PO system would provide a fair system.

or they could do a PO system based on conference champions:

There are 11 Conferences. Select the champion of each conference + the runner up of the conference of the previous NCAA champion. So let’s say Bama won the NCAA title last season, and they come from the SEC. Well, the runner up of the SEC conference would get the 12th selection.

Take those 12 teams and put them in a PO, giving the top 4 teams a bye based on record. The PO would be completed in 4 weeks, and the games would be prime time games played on Monday/ Tuesday night ( MNF is over by then). This would give football its’ version of March Madness in January.
