2718068, im looking at his entire broadcast team funny. Posted by Reeq, Wed Aug-19-20 09:43 PM
cuz he was obviously comfortable enough to say it in front of them while he thought the mic was off.
|
2718071, What he said was enough, but HOW he said it Posted by calminvasion, Wed Aug-19-20 10:49 PM
With such venom and apparent disgust. There’s never been a more clear cut case of knowing exactly what he meant and who he is. Just shameful
|
2718087, right its 1 thing to think that but to feel comfortable enough to say it... Posted by ThaTruth, Thu Aug-20-20 08:05 AM
out loud at work in 2020?
I can only imagine what their racial convos are like...

2718074, One of the most sanctimonious cunts in broadcasting Posted by falafel stand pimpin, Wed Aug-19-20 11:24 PM
Absolutely ecstatic to hear him cancel himself
"I consider myself a man of faith"
Yeah we know where you learned it from dude

2718089, this is my fav part...like what does this have to do with anything? Posted by 3xKrazy, Thu Aug-20-20 08:35 AM

2718075, Most old school play by play guys are FILTHY. Posted by Frank Longo, Wed Aug-19-20 11:33 PM
Norm used to tell legendary Bob Uecker stories. So many of these dudes in all sports give zero fucks about ANY propriety.
But if you say that shit on air? And then pretend like you’re not that guy? lmao, nah dude. You’re that guy. It’s too late. You fucked up and you’re done. The good ol’ boys days where you could say some shit like that scot-free are blissfully dead and gone. Buh-bye.
I just hope Bill Raftery is never caught with a hot mic, cuz I’m terrified he’d say some awful shit one day.

2718080, Love the quick pivot, “that’s not who I am” angle they always take Posted by Dstl1, Thu Aug-20-20 05:30 AM

2718076, Thom has been especially awful this year Posted by THRILLHOUSE, Thu Aug-20-20 03:17 AM
Just a few weeks ago during a game, Jack Clark got brought up, which prompted Thom to say something along the lines of "Didn't he just die recently? Think I heard he died. He was a great guy." This of course being news to Jack Clark who is very much alive.
He's had some pretty awful covid takes, basically saying it isn't something young people and athletes need to worry about.
And then today with the cherry on top of the shit sundae that is Thom Brennaman. And he can get the hell out of here with that "I'm sorry to the people who sign my paychecks" and "I'm a man of faith" apology. Good fucking riddance.

2718079, Not really surprised old white baseball dudes are the worst Posted by ThaTruth, Thu Aug-20-20 05:17 AM

2718086, woooooof. he said that shit from the deep part of his chest Posted by BrooklynWHAT, Thu Aug-20-20 07:57 AM

2718101, He worked the whole first game and got pulled in the 2nd Posted by pretentious username, Thu Aug-20-20 11:14 AM
Everyone knows he meant it. It wasn’t said in a jokey manner, there was vitriol there. At least say “I’m gonna reflect on my views and how they’ve affected people.” Instead he tries to argue that’s not who he is and leans on his faith. Gross. Also the one person defending him is Curt Schilling of course. Lol. If there’s ever an example of “cancel culture” getting it right, this is it you dumbass.
The home run call in the middle of the apology was bizarre and hilarious though. Holy shit.

2718102, Joke or not seems irrelevant Posted by 3xKrazy, Thu Aug-20-20 11:20 AM

2718129, I agree, it was just an observation Posted by pretentious username, Thu Aug-20-20 05:52 PM

2718177, Ya I know Posted by 3xKrazy, Fri Aug-21-20 06:41 AM
But that’s how a lot of people will excuse it that he was just joking around.
Which is not an adequate defense.
|
2718103, lol Posted by smutsboy, Thu Aug-20-20 12:27 PM
>Also the one person defending him is Curt Schilling of course

2718197, he's gonna need some defending of his own Posted by Kungset, Fri Aug-21-20 01:25 PM

2718106, it did make me think of that scene in Blazing Saddles, that entire movie... Posted by ThaTruth, Thu Aug-20-20 01:06 PM
is intentionally offensive on multiple levels, it used to be on regular tv all the time I doubt they would ever show it on network tv today...
|
2718112, They never show R-rated comedies on network TV. Posted by Frank Longo, Thu Aug-20-20 02:38 PM
They've showed Blazing Saddles on cable before, they just censor it. Not too challenging. (Not as funny, but R-rated comedies on cable rarely are.)
|
2718113, I read that HBO is running a disclaimer before Blazing Saddles Posted by smutsboy, Thu Aug-20-20 02:46 PM
somewhat related.
|
2718116, on HBO Max, yeah. Posted by Frank Longo, Thu Aug-20-20 03:01 PM
It's very stupid, but I'd far rather big scared media conglomerates do that than just yank these movies or TV episodes off the service entirely.
|
2718121, I've watched the disclaimer. It's fine, but unecessary. Posted by mrhood75, Thu Aug-20-20 03:48 PM
Says pretty much what everyone who knows anything about the movie already knows: the racists in film are the assholes and the movie mocks them for their racism.
Was their some sort of sentiment that the movie glorifies or justifies the Slim Pickens are the town's people racism? 'Cause otherwise I'm not sure why they bothered.
|
2718123, There was a disclaimer before Rush Hour 3 on USA last night. Posted by dagu, Thu Aug-20-20 04:43 PM
|
2718163, Ha. Yeah, I saw that. Posted by mrhood75, Thu Aug-20-20 09:58 PM
Someone else was watching NXT last night.
|
2718180, RE: Ha. Yeah, I saw that. Posted by dagu, Fri Aug-21-20 08:31 AM
>Someone else was watching NXT last night.
Yep. First time watching a full episode since it went to TV.
|
2718126, TV episodes that poke fun of racism have been getting pulled. Posted by Frank Longo, Thu Aug-20-20 05:35 PM
I'm sure they're just playing it safe.
|
2718147, racists are consumers too Posted by cgonz00cc, Thu Aug-20-20 08:04 PM

2718127, In the 80’s it was on CBS with minimal if any censoring Posted by ThaTruth, Thu Aug-20-20 05:48 PM

2718194, No coming back after using that word Posted by Amritsar, Fri Aug-21-20 01:22 PM

|
2718196, This shit is like scripted out of a Simpsons Episode Posted by ShawndmeSlanted, Fri Aug-21-20 01:24 PM
a couple youtube users also pointed out the Big Progressive Insurance signs behind the batter and that the home runs hits the Planet Fitness "Judgement Free Zone" which makes this all the more hilarious
