he got over so hard the NFL changed the way teams paid rookies.
So while his grand total wasn't as high as Cousins, if you base it on performance, to me it was more impressive.

A rookie deal for a high draft pick QB under the old system - you didn't have much choice.
But paying Kirk and then reupping him?
He has to be near the top of all time fleecer list.

Sam got both the high draft pick contract and even after being very ok at best, he still got overpaid in a few subsequent contracts. Shouts to Minnesota for being in on a few of those contracts too!
I guess what makes Cousins especially unique is that he is generally as healthy as he is average - which is to say VERY. Still somehow he gets paid.

his entire aura was based on some upside that he never really even showed glimpses of on the field.
at least kirk had played and won meaningful games with division/playoff/etc implications.
