I bet, but I switch my betting to Daily Sports Fantasy betting. You have more control as a bettor, and it’s not left up to officiating. It’s not easy, but you can bet less to win more, and you feel like you’re part of a game. However, research is necessary, so you have to stay on top of injury reports and daily matchups. The bad thing about fantasy is if one of your players get injured or fouls out, you’re screwed.

With fantasy, even if I lose, I feel more comfortable with it because my team was based on my selection and I simply selected the wrong players.

You can have success with betting, but you have to be disciplined. I once turned 25 dollars into 700.00 in one week, but instead of taking profit I lost it all by going for one big bet. I wasn’t too mad because it was Mostly house money because I started with 25 dollars. But just think about the people who bet hundreds or thousands of dollars doing that it can brutal

Most people think they know sports, but they don’t, especially the public. You have to really understand teams and how they play, weather, home and on the road, all that shit matters. Favorites and underdogs mean nothing, it’s all about the line and how it moves.

The best way to bet is to start off with a bankroll, and bet across multiple games, giving yourself a chance to win the night. For instance when I was traditionally betting, I would start off with 100.00, and bet 20.00 a game, which is 5 games. My goal was to at lest go 3 out of 5, giving me a 20.00 profit every night. The key is to not make anymore bets after that, no matter if you win or lose. That’s the hard part. Because if you lose, and start to chase bets to make up for it, you lose even more. Also if you win, don’t get greedy.

The only reason I stopped regular betting is because I don’t have free money like that to chance anything. I would only bet with money I could risk. This is why I don’t understand people who bet money they know they can’t afford to lose...

Also stay away from those new betting sports shows ...they know absolutely nothing.

I'm admittedly not a good sports bettor (I do love to gamble, for sure) but I've noticed just how good Vegas is at setting the lines for games. The pros can sniff out a bad line enough to shift it by the time that you, the amateur, get to bet on it - so it's almost just not even worth it to me. I have a lot more fun with the fantasy stuff, or even dumb prop bets just for fun.

Yeah, man. People just don’t realize just how good Vegas is, and they feast off every day people. And now that they are using computer formulas and algorithms, forget about it. However, they do make mistakes, you just have to know the sport and teams.

And try to piggy back their shit. That's what I do. Because when they bet, they're betting, like, right when the line opens. It's a lot harder to find those "bad line" edges hours before the game.

Or, for people not in the position to know a professional gambler they trust, bet on *just* your team if you watch them consistently enough. My betting record when betting on or against Duke is waaaaaay better than my record with anything else. If you follow a team for years, and their coaching/system is fairly consistent, then you can really pick up on a lot of things-- like locations where they tend to struggle, whether they play certain halves better, positions of particular importance for the system, certain spots on the schedule where it seems like they struggle annually, etc. I've been betting against Duke in 1Hs of road ACC games for three years now, and my hit rate is *absurd.* But really I only know to do this because I suffer through so many shitty first halves in these spots, lmao.

I also think college is easier than the pros imo, because the divide in talent between pros is so minimal. The worst team is definitely capable of beating the best team. College tends to have greater talent divides. If you know where positionally a team's talent strengths and weaknesses are, you can pick up small advantages there. It's really fucking hard to bet on pro basketball consistently well imo. Trades and season length add serious variables.

i stay away from the spread/money-line on games since it's so hard to beat. i think there's a lot of room to catch the bookies out on player prop bets (over/under on pts, reb, etc), i do a lot better on those.

and nothing beats being in Vegas during a big boxing or MMA event, putting down a hefty bet, and watching the fights while having a few drinks

I play FanDuel football and basketball. Ever thought that the winning roster was a fake account therefore they keep money and only pay out a portion of the total jackpot?

Out of all the sports, basketball is the hardest to win the top top cash prizes, because basketball is about ceiling and not floor. And in order to even have a chance at the top
Prize in GGP games you have to be able to score 400 points, so keep that in mind when selecting your players. And scoring 400 points is hard as shit. I’ve never done it. Closest I got was 390 something and it was all because one player got scratched. But 390 in cash single entry games can make you some good money

I too suspect that fantasy sites have accounts that automatically update to players that are having the best night. However, there are normal accounts that have won who selected a good line up. Also I’m sure they duplicate every participants lineup, especially in the GPP games, because those games are multi entry games with a limit of 153 entries per person.

However it’s still a fair shot, because it’s about the lineup that you select. What people don’t understand is that those top winners are using lineup generators to generate 153 different Lineups based on probability formulas. The average person is manually generating lineups, so chances are not going to be as great, but it doesn’t mean you can’t win. You can still win money, just not the big prizes. But those small wins can add up to good money over time if done consistently. But everyone looks for the big homerun play

The games to play are the games where there are a low amount of entries, like the top 50 percent win, double ups, top 3 to 100 win. Also those games are limited to either one entry per person or no more than three entries

Again basketball is the hardest because there are so many players on one team that can score big. A weak shooting player like Rubio can put up 50 points just off of his ability to get steals and blocked shots, and can do it every night . In football, that type of scoring consistency doesn’t exist so you don’t need a lot of scoring, you just need for players to get at least 10 - 15 points each to have a shot. So football is about floor and basketball is about ceiling.

Also matchups matters more in basketball, because in the right matchup a weak bench player can focking get 50 points all because his team was up by 30 by halftime, so he gets garbage minutes. Players don’t get garbage mins in football, starters play the whole game even in blowouts. So you could select a bum ass player for a blow out game and win the game. That’s why every night you see a player in a winning lineup who went off out of nowhere. Take Caris LeVert, now he is not a bum, but he went into the fourth q with 14 points in the game, and was around 18 points in fantasy. Dude he snapped for 31 points in the fourth quarter! And finished with 51 points for the game, and 60 something points for fantasy. That shit never happens in football, only your star players will put up points weekly, which is why getting that top RB, qb, etc is important. In basketball all positions will and can go off every night.

Also injuries are not as costly in football like they are in basketball. A football player can go down, but avg points per player in football is like what 10 to 15 points? So another player could make that up. But in basketball? A player fouls out or gets injured? It’s over. It’s no making up for that in any way possible. That’s the worse.

Also basketball has this habit of late scratches. That’s the worse and heartbreaking. Right at the start of the game a player gets scratched equals fucked.

So in basketball never write off any player, and think matchups and ceilings. Also try to stay away from chalk plays, which is a player that is going to be used by the majority of the entries. Now there are some chalk plays that you have to play regardless, like Giannis or Kawhi because of their consistency, especially Giannis and especially on a low game slate, where only 3 or 5 games are being played. But if Zach Lavine has a ceiling of 60 to 70 points, and he has scored that before, and his salary is way cheaper, I’m going to take him over Harden because I know the majority of the pool is going to play harden. That will allow me to jump all those who played harden if their scoring is the same or Lavine scores higher and my other players score high as well. You want to think like that for every position. Matchups/ ceiling/ chalk plays/ injury prone, etc

But basketball is hard as fock, but still worth it.

Also, use those cheap multi entry nickel games to create your lineups. I’ll create 10 entries ( 50 cents total) then I’ll take what I feel is my best 4 lineups and put them in the multi entry quarter games ( 1.00 total). Then I’ll take one game each from the 4 entries, and put one in a single entry cash game ( 1 dollar game. 2 dollar game, 3 dollar game, and maybe a 7 or 9 dollar game , depends on the game slate.). It usually comes out to about no more than 5 or 10 dollars a night. And that’s not from new money, just from the account that I built up, which is about 25.00 right now ( I transfer earnings out). So either I break even, lose that 5 or ten dollars( which never happens , because you will win something whether small or large). Or win 15 to 100 dollars, with the hopes of winning the top prizes. Lately, I’ve just been winning a few bucks here and there. Shit is hard, but you will not kill your funds or go broke.

Absolutely made zero sense. Entire betting world went Beserk. There was no mention of it during pregame interviews. The only thing that was stated , and what people knew before hand was that bledsoe, hill and Giannis would be out due to injury. So of course fantasy players naturally loaded up on Middleton as the huge chalk play as well as Lopez and Divencinzo. But he goes and sits them too

If you knew going into the day that you were going to sit players, and they fucking knew, that should have been reported. He gave some excuse about having fresh bodies out there. The fucking bench players actually kept it close being down by 8 at half time, and containing jokic, so imagine having a player who has scored up to 50 points out there, and two potential 20 point scorers out there. They could have won the game, but now you lose three games in a row.

NBA is just garbage, the points mean so little that spreads and O/U can be maddening. The NFL is a little more concrete in that sense and I usually did decent there when I bet it. In the late 90s and early 2000s when I gambled the most, NCAA handicapping was atrocious, especially if you knew the mid majors. It's gotten better now but it still lags behind the big conferences a bit. NHL betting you can make easy money on particular trends and scheduling gaffes, but you have to be very selective.
