Not related to the story but to the league.

I found out the other day that even though teams have affiliated teams in the g league, all teams have access to a player, as long as that player isn’t on assignment , isn’t a two way player, or was drafted and signed with the g league because the team didn’t offer him a contract or he refused the contract ( team still owns his draft rights).

Teams don’t have exclusive rights to players like in MLB. Players have contracts with the league and not the teams.

I was wondering how some players in the league were called up by teams that weren’t affiliated with their G league teams.
