2711281, RIP + Kobe just don’t seem to fit together...

At least not now.

LEGENDS DON’T DIE is what they say. Sheeeeit!

This stings.

There were none before him and, til now, none after.

He was the coldest assassin I’ve seen ever play the game and at a level not many could or will ever reach.

I was enjoying the bits and pieces of his life that have been shared in the t few years since retirement.

Saw him play, in person, just once. It was the game in Atlanta where he sprained his ankle pretty badly in 2013. It was Two weeks before his Achilles tear. What an experience!

Kobe Bean!

Damn!
2711297, Yep. This board
Posted by ShawndmeSlanted, Mon Jan-27-20 01:17 PM
made me happy to see so many folks back even if under these circumstances.

As I shared in the other post, for me Kobe also signified friendships and relationships--- including this board.

Our Survivor basketball league is in its 15th season.
2711299, I love this fucking place. RIP, Kob'.

This hit me real hard and I haven't even processed it. Kobe left us too early and it saddens me greatly.
2711330, Man, yeah.
Posted by Ryan M, Mon Jan-27-20 07:53 PM
It's hard.

It's a dude who was so present for so long, even in retirement.

This one hurts. Bad.
2711331, Kobe v Iverson built this board

2730933, where's LBFinest??
Posted by melmag, Tue Jan-26-21 10:21 AM

I feared the worst for him when the news broke..

As the biggest Kobe fan here, I really felt for him, Kobe meant so much to him. We never agreed on much, but a genuine fan he was like no other. Peace LB!
2730940, STILL hard to accept he's really GONE...

I watched an interview, a couple of nights ago...Matt Barnes (who is really good at this shit) and Jack interviewed Kobe at his crib. He was so happy, so optimistic...just, so at peace. He talked about Gigi and his face just lit up. He had so much he wanted to do...that interview was three weeks before he passed. We just do not know, yall.
2730942, Big up to Barnes & Jack. These interviews help so much
Posted by Cold Truth, Tue Jan-26-21 11:47 AM
They've done as much- if not more, really- as anyone to keep his legacy alive. Honorable mention to Arenas, but I haven't listened to him as much as them.

The reverence they show toward him, the interviews, especially with AI, that touch on these individual interactions with Kobe, go a long way.

It's still a bitch though. It still feels like a fresh gut punch.

Listening to a recent Pau interview, now that shit was therapy. That was hard, but beautiful.

The TMac interview together was a treat.

Watching Shane Battier talk about the mental battle between the two is so fascinating, and in some ways it explains so much about why Lakers fans, myself included, are so intensely attached to him.

If Ionescu goes to the WNBA (I've read suggestions that she may go overseas, but i digress) I plan on watching her. Because Kobe took her under his wing, and mentored her, and she's vowed to be that living extension of his- and Gigi's- legacy.

So I'm all in on her, because Kobe.
2730943, RIP Kobe

2730951, Respect to a legend- one of the greatest to ever do it
Posted by vik, Tue Jan-26-21 02:36 PM
