So this Arsenal team's issues run so deep, Unai's replacement won't be able to get it fixed within the season.

So at least entertain us. Ozil is entertaining, really like this lineup. With LT was playing deeper, but whatever. No Granit is nice.

City and Liverpool down at half, doubt it stays that way

2706390, Young chelsea showed a lot of strength today.
Posted by allStah, Sat Nov-02-19 06:15 PM
Great game by Jorginho and Kovacic owning the midfield. Willians’s
pace was shut too much, constantly applied pressure. The backline was solid.
And good goals by Tammy and Pulisic.

Jorginho was man of the match. He has perfected the regista role for both club and country. Probably wouldn’t have been able to play that had he chosen to play for Brasíl. but his style is definitely more for the Italian way. I thought he was trash last year, but I guess that was due to Sarri’s system.

Teams have to stop losing the ball. Especially pulisic . Too easily knocked off the ball. That’s my only gripe. Should get Kante and RLC back soon.

I feel for Giroud. He still has a lot left, as it is shown with the French squad. But lamps has other intentions. I hope he gets a chance to leave during the transfer window. Frank actually said club over country, no wonder England was terrible when he played.

Leciester City has the potential to become a big club.

They lost Mahrez, drinkwater , Kante , and were able to replace those
Players and still compete at a top level.

I say Vardy has about 2 more years left as far as being a top striker in the league. Hopefully, by that time, they will have a solid replacement for him.

But you're right. That is key.
2706462, prayers up for Andre Gomes

Honestly we played like crap, and were beaten at almost every position. I don’t know what they are doing in the Netherlands but they are spewing out insane players for both club and country.

Frank made an error by playing Alonzo in a back 4 . He is not a proper fullback . He is a wingback with tremendous offensive skills. His defenses is lacking.

Both fullbacks were being ripped a part down the flank. In this match , their young players were better than our young players.

You know that every football scout in the world was at this match, Slobbering over getting these young players. Chelsea players will stay because they are dedicated to being chelsea players. Ajax will probably be drained of most of their players again.

Pulisic is too easily pushed off the ball. And we still are not good on set pieces.

Both of those penalties were correct, so we got a lucky break.

2706744, Pulisic, eh?

2706745, RE: Pulisic, eh?
Posted by allStah, Sat Nov-09-19 10:12 AM
Yeah, he is coming into his own with scoring. He is still very easily pushed off the ball’, but he has proven his start and his ability to score and pass.

I m just not ready for all the American pulisic mania that’s going to take place, and now all of a sudden there are going to be tons of American chelsea fans. And this online pulisic army where you can’t judge his game and they’ll even go at frank for not playing him.

People posting online that he is already better than hazard and the best player in the epl. It’s crazy.

2706754, This LC/Arsenal is good action.

The club finished top 4 in every season under Poch,
And went to the CL final for the first time.

You don’t spend in the transfer window to improve the squad,
But you expect to be able to battle for top 4, when the other top
clubs brought in new players.
2707496, Yeah, Poch was punished for not being perfect every time.
Posted by Buck, Wed Nov-20-19 07:51 AM
The lack of depth meant that he had no margin of error.

But now we get to listen to Mourinho complain weekly about the lack of spending on the way results no better than Poch managed.

Posted by smutsboy, Sun Nov-24-19 01:37 PM
but like you say, reviewing things that are 1/10th of an inch offside is awful

Posted by Buck, Sun Nov-24-19 04:13 PM
Although some uses are more tolerable than others.

VAR in EPL is, as others have noted, absolutely miserable.

I cannot stand it when replay becomes a "feature" of the game, rather than something that happens silently and seamlessly.
2707767, The implementation is hilariously poor. I’d rather not have it overall though

2708083, instant replay in general.
Posted by will_5198, Fri Nov-29-19 01:54 PM
rules of sport were not created to withstand the dissection and distortion of 4K HDR 1000/FPS review.

for everything it's supposed to fix, it just breaks something else. the examples of replay changing the intent of the game will just get more and more absurd.

instant replay should only be used at regular speed to correct errors.

Valverde was exhausted, and was a beast all match long. Plus the injury to Hazard stopped the attack. He was stringing everything together, and abusing PSG. He destroyed Meunier to point that dude got angry and injured him. lol

However, make no mistake about it Real Madrid was far superior to PSG and it wasn't close.

This team is starting to prove that it was more than just Ronaldo - hopefully. Going to El clasico ready to destroy.

2708005, Valencia Chelsea

helluva match
2708007, That was a great match in regards to play and excitment.
Posted by allStah, Wed Nov-27-19 03:34 PM
First, that was a terrible penalty call on jorginho. Clearly, the Valencia player fouled jorginho and not the other way around. However, Kepa made an outstanding save to salvage the situation.

Offensively, we played well. Great goals were scored by Pulisic and Kovacic. However, we were exposed at times in the middle of the pitch, as well as down the left flank. Azp's days are numbered. He was beaten several times, and he didn't have the pace to deal with Valencia's leftwinger. I'm not sure why Alonso is not regarded anymore. He has his issues defensively, but they are not as bad as Azp's. And Emerson should definitely be on the pitch.

Btw, Eden Hazard was beyond brilliant with how he dribbled PSG to death. He was unstoppable. Got off to a slow start because of the thigh injury, but he is now in marvelous form.

This is a good place for Mourinho. It’s like how chelsea was before he got there , same with FC Porto and Inter. Those teams that aren’t really winning and he can go in with good to not so good players and get them to achieve.

However going into big clubs like Real Madrid and MU where there is a history of great success with big time players, I don’t think those are good fits for how he coaches and his mannerisms.

But he also appears to be more composed this time around ...for now.

Reece James with the nice short ball to Tammy for the header.

And from Tammy to Mount for a cannon of a strike.

Frank needs to stop playing around with the centerback setup. Just because one makes a mistake in one game does not mean you need to drop him. Stick with a tandem unless it gets bad, and the Zouma / Tomori tandem has been solid.

Real Madrid was taking off, and he was in marvelous form. All because they couldn’t stop him.

La liga and Ligue 1 don’t know how to tackle so they do violent tackles compared to the EPl where they tackle all the time, and make physical tackles. To me there is a difference.

And spent the rest of my time (when football was happening) in various pubs watching the EPL and CL.

Getting a ticket to a Chelsea/Tottenham/Arsenal match is really fucking hard for a visitor with the membership system they employ over there. Went with a well-reviewed third party reseller (Seatsbay) and ended up with seats at the halfway line 5 rows up in the upper section (you don't get to choose your seats outright, you can only select which section). Expensive with the service fees but it was worth it.

BTW - Pulisic is winning over hearts and minds overseas. Didn't intend on getting into conversations about dude, but the American accent naturally prompted locals to bring him up. People over there are REALLY high on him.
2708484, They are extremely high on him like that?

Yea. Chelsea tickets are extremely hard to acquire and they are very expensive, and the low capacity seating of the stadium makes it even worse. 44,000 stadium capacity is 2 decades behind.

I can only dream of actually seeing chelsea play at the bridge, glad you were able to experience it.

Did you join in on the singing or were just there as a neutral?

Shite match to lose to pellegrini ,plus it being a derby.
2708487, Nobody is singing in the east and west stands, which is where I was

>Did you join in on the singing or were just there as a

Everyone in my area was older and naturally on the quiet side. Which is somewhat lame after you have a few pregame pints flowing through the bloodstream.

>Yea. Chelsea tickets are extremely hard to acquire and they

Face value was 60 Euro's for what ended up being good upper-level seats. Not horrible and comparable to NBA tickets. But if you're visiting from out of town it's impossible to get tickets for face value because them shits are sold out months in advance via club membership. Maaaybe it's possible to score unwanted tickets to a weekday domestic cup game against a Championship side.

>Shite match to lose to pellegrini ,plus it being a derby.

Chelsea's worst game of the season but the overall experience made up for it.

And yeah, they really do like CP over there. Heard "he's our best attacking player" numerous times. There were also comparisons to Hazard. People seem genuinely exited about the kid and nobody seemed upset with him displacing Odoi in the starting lineup, which is telling.
2708488, You weren't able to ping your local Supporters' Group?
Posted by magilla vanilla, Thu Dec-05-19 04:25 PM
I know at least for Villa, even for away games there are allocations for foreign supporters, with a few exceptions. All you'd have to do is find your local club and they should be able to contact the supporters' liaison to hook you up.
2708492, I'm not sure it's that easy for the big 3 London clubs
Posted by RandomFact, Thu Dec-05-19 04:55 PM
as tickets are at a premium, especially for more noteworthy games (I just happened to be in town during a derby). But from what I understand, weekday domestic cup games can be had for visitors through methods similar to what you mentioned.

Even club members based in London aren't guaranteed tickets. There's this whole membership hierarchy system in place that guarantees long-time members first dibs.

2708493, Chelsea tix were a bitch to obtain when I lived there, 10+ yrs ago

can't imagine it's gotten easier with the abundance of tourists wanting to attend (and willing to pay for it). I was fortunate to go to a few games at the time cos I knew a season ticket holder from work; in particular went to CHE-TOT which never would've happened otherwise. CL group games were much easier though, just straight up bought them on the official website since people are definitely less keen on them plus they're at night in the middle of the week, so that's a possibility
2708489, Tell me more about the ticketing situation
Posted by Hitokiri, Thu Dec-05-19 04:28 PM
I'm gonna be in London when Chelsea play City at the Bride. A friend told me that he bought a year-long Arsenal membership so that he could get tickets to a game while he was there. My experience in Barcelona was way different, it could not have been easier to get a ticket. I'm a few months out from my trip, what would you suggest I do to get first tier tickets?
2708490, I'd find your local SC and reach out to them

2708494, A membership does not guarantee a ticket
Posted by RandomFact, Thu Dec-05-19 05:17 PM
especially for Chelsea/City. If you don't have a ticket by now for that game you're not getting one for face value via conventional methods. There is no way.

The one perk the membership does give you is access to the Chelsea ticket exchange (the general public cannot access this). Members who have previously purchased tickets but can't attend put their tickets on the exchange. But you'll be fighting thousands of other members without a ticket for those random scraps. The odds of getting a ticket to that particular match is very slim.

If you're willing to shell out $$$$ for the experience, you'll have to go through a website like seatsbay.com or livefootballtickets.com. I used Seatsbay. Ended up being around $160 USD/ticket after markup fees for Chelsea/West Ham (will be more for Chelsea/City). It was a weird experience as you can't select your seat (you can only select the section) and I didn't actually receive my tickets until matchday at the box office. Not gonna lie, I was a little nervous as the process was unlike anything I've experience before. But true to their word I received an email 24 hours before the game with ticket pickup info. They can also ship the tickets to a location in London 2-3 days before the match, but that was not a possibility in my situation.

Despite the price tag it ended up working out great. Tickets were under my name at the box office and the seats were great. I also received a Chelsea membership for 2019/2020 that apparently was part of the overall fee (and allowed them to have the tickets in my name).

2708500, memberships are like $50 for the year
Posted by RandomFact, Thu Dec-05-19 08:25 PM
so take that cost into account.
2708514, I read you can't actually buy tickets until like 45 days before the game

2708522, you're correct.

but like I said above, if you're trying to see big match, or even semi-big(ish) match as was the case for West Ham, be aware that "loyalty points" become involved due to the high demand. if you're just buying a membership now you're not going to have the points necessary to have a shot at a ticket.

2708524, Oooh okay. Got it.
