My body is ready for this season and the way the Eagles and Flyers are playing I can focus squarely on JoJo n' 'nem. I'm hoping they add a little backcourt help during the season but I love this court-shrinking bunch of bigs. They come through the tunnel looking like some shit from out of a comic book, HUGE lineup. Loved the exclamation point from Horford last night. He looks spry. Simmons with a monster night. Gotta win the conference this year, no fucking excuses.
2705679, Jo already out
Posted by bentagain, Sat Oct-26-19 11:58 AM
Ben's team.
2705774, Jo can miss all the October he wants
Posted by bshelly, Sat Oct-26-19 10:46 PM
60 regular season games, that’s all he needs.

Also if Ben wants to be a star he can’t have 13 point games.
2705788, we can win without embiid
Posted by bshelly, Sun Oct-27-19 11:04 AM
Yeah it was the pistons. We didn’t beat them without Embiid last year. This is very good.
2705865, Year 2, still no Zhaire Smith
Posted by bentagain, Mon Oct-28-19 07:39 AM
Sent down to g league

One of the more bizarre draft night trades

Still no NBA minutes for Smith

True to form though, 6ers already picked up his option for next year

?
2706184, Thuybulle is THAT BOL!!!
Posted by bentagain, Thu Oct-31-19 12:18 PM
By the time Zhaire makes it to the league

Thuybulle will have made us forget all about him

and I'm okay with that.

2 DPOTY candidates...I can dig it.
2706404, I mean we knew he was raw coming out of college

Will be re-evaluated before SUN vs CHA

Grade 1 AC joint sprain

Weird fall

Sprain is a good sign, compared to a tear

Hope he can manage the pain and soreness, but not do further damage
2708527, FIRE BRETT BROWN!!!
Posted by bentagain, Fri Dec-06-19 03:21 PM
<shrug> I waited til December

Too many of the same issues remain...despite wholesale roster changes

Top of the list

Can’t win on the road

We’re undefeated at home.

That’s on the HC IMO

Add on...
Failure to execute in the halfcourt
Blowing big leads... repeatedly
Pick and role absent on offense...unable to guard on defense
Starting Fuckin’ Forkan
Offense looks lost in crunch time
No accountability for Jo camping out at the 3Pt line

Dude sucks.
2709010, TURNOVERS!!!

Almost forgot...the fucking turnovers

Chuck and Shaq trying to get him fired

Posted by bentagain, Thu Dec-19-19 08:33 AM
Is an Al Horford 3...WTF!?!

Didn’t even need a 3

Didn’t even look like a playcall

Just Ben going kamikaze and kicking it out...to any of the entire team standing at the 3pt line

...and we were only down by 2 fucking points...

Year 7, and I’m not convinced we have a winning HC.
2709207, that’s bens fault

You have no real shooting. And you can’t trade 2s for 3s.

mavs got some strikers from deep, sixers couldn’t hang. And you got a pg who is a negative when you need shots.

This team is built for the 1980s..more of a slow pace team , with good defense, but can’t really play in a shoot out.

They had the game won and blew it with some really dumb plays. This team can be so frustrating.
2710851, Ben’s team.
Posted by bentagain, Sat Jan-18-20 12:02 PM
Trade Embiid to POR for McCollum and Nurkic

or try to Free Beal or Booker

We don’t need Jo to lock up a 6 seed and 2nd round exit.
2711148, RE: Ben’s team.
Posted by allStah, Sun Jan-26-20 10:08 AM
Agreed. This teams is on a whole different level with Ben running the show. The personnel fits, and he will find everyone on the court. They play fast on both sides of the ball, and Al’s game is really able to shine.

Imbid is too slow, more of a half court player. But it slows the pace of the team ,and his dominant ball presence stifles the game of horford.

Portland already has whiteside, who is also more of a slow center on a team that’s like to play with pace. It stifles them at times, however whiteside makes up for it by getting tons of boards and blocks. I can’t see them trading for another slow center, or trading center for center, because philly wouldn’t want that either.

Philly needs a center like Capela who plays with speed , gets boards and tons of ally oops. But of course rockets wouldn’t let him go, and he is being wasted by playing with harden. Can you imagine him on the break with Ben?

I agree that Philly could use a backcourt player like McCollum...get a player like McCollum and a fast serviceable center. Willy Cauley Stein would have been perfect, but Dallas just snagged him up from GS. Plus GS has tons of really good young scoring backcourt players in Burks, Robinson, Damion... Or a deal like getting Dangelo Russell and Cauley Stein for Imbid would have been a good fit.

This may sound crazy, Andre Drummond would be a good fit as well. He can get up and down the court and rebound like crazy, plus Detroit has some good young scoring shooting guards. They are looking to deal Drummond, so Imbid for Drummond and one of those shooting guards..

But yeah, this is ben’s team.

2711151, Doesn't matter if he can't play.
Posted by bentagain, Sun Jan-26-20 11:47 AM
Jo's missed games the last 2 years

IN THE PLAYOFFS!!!

I'd rather have players that are going to play.

Jo's gonna come back, more out of shape

Try to play his way back into shape

...and miss more time down the stretch and/or in the 'offs

Do you know the definition of insanity?

I don't think anyone with eyes would disagree, it looks like Ben is playing closer to his full potential w/o Jo

and as I've already said, we don't need Jo for a 6 seed and 2nd round exit

We can do that w/o him.
2711521, Only 3 players avg; +16pts, +7rebs and +8asts per game
Posted by bentagain, Fri Jan-31-20 08:26 AM
Bron
Luka
Ben

that's it. that's the list.

I really think this team is not a serious contender until they make a decision between Embiid and Simmons
2711526, fire Brett Brown
Posted by bshelly, Fri Jan-31-20 10:19 AM
Last night sealed it for me.

I don’t think a coach actually controls or does very much. One of the few things I think they can impact is effort level, and this team’s effort level is just too inconsistent. I don’t know if a new coach can fix this team, but I know that Brett isn’t adding that I notice, nor has he done such a good job that he shouldn’t be subject to a “maybe a different voice will help” firing
2711558, Firing BB won't magically save this team, but it's a step in the right direction.
Posted by Mignight Maruder, Fri Jan-31-20 09:21 PM
As asked above, 'what are his strengths?' What is the compelling case for keeping him?

I hear the injury excuse all the time, but that holds little weight as this team routinely fields a much, much more talented team than their opponents. How many all-star caliber players does he need to win?

The 76ers struggles on the road are well documented. How in the world can the same team that blows out the Lakers and Bucks routinely lose to far inferior teams like the Hawks and Magic?? The team is only a few games out of a 2nd seed, but may sleepwalk their way to a 5-6 seed because of their lack of urgency against inferior teams and on the road.

This team has way too much talent to not be a serious contender. But what is the blue print for a team like this winning a 'chip? When will that switch ever flip? What evidence is there to suggest that BB can motivate these guys on a consistent basis? Whatever happened to his declaratory statement that Ben Simmons will shoot at least one 3 pointer a game??? That was hilarious, yet revealing. He wants it to happen, but there are zero repercussions if players do their own thing.
2711756, you know what, this team stinks
Posted by makaveli, Tue Feb-04-20 12:23 PM
i was hype for this team before the season started, but I honestly can't even watch them. so inconsistent and frustrating, same problems continue over and over. brett brown is coaching his way to getting fired. horford certainly doesn't look like a good move, at least the way he is being used. i have no faith in this team to do anything in the post season. could they flip a switch? they have the talent i suppose, but i don't see it. something is very wrong.
2711771, Co-sign. Fuck these dudes

2713440, Jimmy Butler talks relationship with Brett Brown
Posted by bentagain, Thu Mar-12-20 05:13 PM
Because I genuinely wanted to know exactly why he left

https://www.nbcsports.com/philadelphia/76ers/jimmy-butler-brett-brown-sixers-heat-playoffs-jj-redick-podcast

After teasing for months that the reason he didn’t re-sign with the Sixers would come out, Jimmy Butler didn’t hold back on JJ Redick’s podcast.

Butler, who left via a sign-and-trade with the Heat this past summer, sipped on wine with his former teammate as the two discussed a variety of topics.

The most interesting was Butler's time with the Sixers and why it didn't work out. The biggest factor for Butler’s departure seemed to be a rocky relationship with Brett Brown.

Hell yeah it was difficult,” Butler said of last season. “It was so different. On any given day, me as a person, as a player, I didn’t know who the f--- was in charge. I think that was the biggest thing. I didn’t know what the f--- to expect whenever I’d go into the gym, whenever I’m going to the game. … I think I was lost as the next motherf---er.

Butler forced a trade out of Minnesota that landed him in Philadelphia. The offensive fit was clunky from the start and was never truly resolved. Butler described a meeting early on with Brown, Redick, Joel Embiid and Ben Simmons that set a bad tone for Butler’s tenure.

“And that f---ing meeting,” Butler said to Redick.

“We’re all sitting in there and nothing got accomplished at all. I told you this as I walked: ‘JJ, why would I ever go back in there again?’ Nothing is getting accomplished. Nobody’s saying nothing to anybody and we’re just sitting in here watching film and you can literally hear the thing just clicking, and we’re all just looking around.”

That’s what led to the infamous film session in Portland last season where Butler reportedly “aggressively challenged” Brown. Turns out, that meeting wasn’t nearly as confrontational as it was portrayed. Both former Sixers said it was a normal team conversation about pick-and-rolls.

As Redick talked about his relationship with Brown — which he’s mentioned as being great — Butler continued to go in on his former coach.

During the playoff series against the Raptors, Brown made Butler the team’s primary ball handler instead of Simmons. It apparently didn’t sit well with Butler, who’s flourished with the ball in his hands in Miami and at other stops, that the offense had changed so drastically.

“I would say was professional, but to this day, I don’t think that was fair to switch over like that,” Butler said. “Even though we played great basketball like that, I don’t think it was fair because the entire year, Ben had the ball. So you mean to tell me, in one playoff series, you just switch it up like that? I would be — like was — I would feel a type of way. I would think that it’s f---ed up to play one way the entire year and then be like, ‘You know what, boom, this is how we’re going to do it.’”

But what happened between Kawhi Leonard’s Game 7 shot and Butler being sent to Miami?

The details are a little unclear, but it seemed like Butler didn’t like what was said to him when discussions of him returning to Philly occured.

A main reason I didn’t go back was because somebody asked, ‘Can you control him?’ Like, ‘Can you control Jimmy? Because if you can control Jimmy, we would think about having him back.’ I was like, you don’t got to worry about it. S---, ain’t nobody f---ing control me. For one, I ain’t just out there doing no bulls---, but the fact that you’re trying to control a grown man, … nah, I’m cool. Because I don’t do anything that’s just drastically f---ing stupidly crazy. I do not do that. So don’t come at me with the, ‘let me try and control him.’ You good. Don’t even worry about it. … If that’s what y’all are worried about, then good luck to y’all.

Butler didn’t reveal who this conversation was with and who asked if they could “control him.”

With 18 games left for the Sixers in the regular season, they currently sit in sixth and just a half a game behind the Pacers for fifth. If they were to get into the fifth or fourth position, there’s a strong chance they’d take on the Heat in the first round.

+1, GR3 recently made a similar statement about being unsure of his role on the team

FIYAH THIS MFer!!!
