Real Madrid and Barcelona are off the mark. Liverpool and Man City are in their prime as teams, but you can tell it is more on the tail end. This will be liverpools third year with their run, and more than likely Pep will move on at the end of the year.

Spurs run seem to have exhausted itself, and are in need of a rebuild. The EPL reached its apex last year after dominating Europa and CL. Pochettino has one foot out the door, and you can tell Harry Kane is ready to move on. Erikson wanted a move to RM during the summer, so you know he is not up for it.

Now Bayern Munich has reloaded and are ready to make a 3-4 year run as a dominating team. they are young and ready to destroy.
With my Chelsea team getting stronger, maybe we will have another Bayern Munich vs Chelsea Finals in the next 1-2 years.

2 pretty brilliant finishes in the second half. In a way, it sucks for Inter... but they really should have given themselves a bigger lead in the first, when they were completely dominant. And also fuck them, always.

Posted by allStah, Sat Oct-05-19 02:38 PM
They absolutely destroyed Norwich at their place, and coud Pukki be highly overrated? Hasn't done anything since those 2 breakout games that he had.

Hazard finally looking like hazard with a splendid goal and 1 assist. Real Madrid appears to be focused on winning La Liga, since they haven't won it since Mourinho, and before that there was a drought.

I’d have expected it to be Brighton after the break. I thought we’d either draw this one or squeak out a win. And no, Pukki was playing in a side decimated by injury (though Stiepermann and Cantwell were healthy but played well below their standard), and up against the best defensive pairing this side of van Dijk and Gomez. Also, Smith found a way to play Hourihane, Grealish and McGinn, who were vital to our best run last season, while also playing Marvelous Nakamba, who is really grabbing the bit in his teeth now that he’s match fit. We’re gonna cause some problems for some people now.

Fuck Italy as a nation and crew though. Not that his story could have ended any other way, but getting that mad cuz he beat you is the peak of wackness.

It is interesting to think If the bottom would not have been as deep if he got out of Napoli 2 years sooner like he wanted.

But that 3/4 year run from 85/86-88/89 was insane!

turning on the Manchester United game, and seeing Dalot, Pereira, Tuanzebe, Mata, Ashley Young, Fred, etc. on the pitch?

that's a special kind of hurt.
2704118, spare Tuanzebe. he's actually good
Posted by BrooklynWHAT, Sun Oct-06-19 01:01 PM
i'd have more of him and Maguire together.
2704184, I wonder if a 3-5-2 wouldn't work better for United?
Posted by magilla vanilla, Mon Oct-07-19 09:49 AM
Play Young as the left wing-back and James on the right; Tuanzebe can play as the right center back to cover James as necessary. The extra center half would take some of the weight off the midfield, and you can grant Pogba more freedom, and see if Mata's next phase is as a Pirlo-type regista.
2704195, you see it. and i see it. but OGS is married to this broken 4231
Posted by BrooklynWHAT, Mon Oct-07-19 10:43 AM
we either need to run a 352, 442 diamond or 433.
and god forbid the players need to have some positional discipline. i looked at our average position map vs newcastle and it looks like were playing a 280. cant pass vertical if theres no one up the fucking field.
2704198, I can tell you that a 433 isn't a panacea
Posted by magilla vanilla, Mon Oct-07-19 11:18 AM
And the last thing Rashford needs is more isolation. But if you can get the supporting pieces in the right place, it can give you quite a bit of versatility. Just, y'know, go buy Longstaff from the Geordies and leave McGinn in Perry Barr.

Pep is no different than Mourinho, where after awhile he loses the attention and focus of his players. They get burned out. That is what I am seeing here. No way should they have lost at home to Wolves, on the road, yes, but at home?

No way. HE is gone at the end of the year.

Same thing with the spurs. They are not listening to Poch anymore, and with the so called rumors of a player sleeping with another player's wife, the dressing room is all over the place.

MU? They have the defense, but no offense in sight. They need some good strikers and CAMS

Bournemouth, Leceister City, Crystal Palace, Burnley, and West Ham can play some really good soccer. And one of them is going to finish top 4.

everything looking good at chelsea. we just need some rest, especially tomori and jorginho. They didn't play well today. Both need a game off after playing three games in 7 days. Pulisic got an assist, so hopefully that make some of the homers happy. I'm tired of hearing about the guy.
2704176, No different that Jose? You cannot be serious.

Overreaction, much? It's one loss. A bad loss, yes. But it's sports. That shit happens. Pep could very well leave after this year. He's already shown in his previous coaching tenures that he needs a change after a few years, but if he does, it will have nothing to do with this one bad game.

It’s not just because from this game, but from the other games that
Has led up to this, and the lost to Norwich city. And the struggle to get going
At times. This is his 4th year...and I don’t think he stays at a place longer than that.

You have a point, and I see what you are saying. That could be it as well.

However, it appears that they are not as feared as they used to be, and it they are quite easy to score on. To lose 2-0 nil at home to the Wolves?

With Liverpool, there is this huge fear, because you have to deal with VVD and Arnold, and then deal with their constant attack and pressing. They are very hard to score on.

We shall see.

Good showing by Utd

Liverpool was way off their game for about 80 minutes. Bad decisions on the ball. Passing was off. TAA well defended and the crosses he did get were never on target. Bunch of 50/50 calls went against them.

Not surprised the goal came from something started by Keita though.

if/when he's healthy he needs to be a permanent fixture in the starting XI.

Especially on days where any of the front 3 are out. He brings a threat going forward no other midfielders on the team have.

Liverpool are showing signs. We saw it in the CL, and now we are seeing it in the EPL.
Great game plan by United to take it to Pool. Can’t just sit back and absorb pressure as a method to deal with pool.

United has great defense, usually giving up only 1 goal, but either losing by a goal or drawing. Team is still full of average offense players to me.

VVD is not as great as he was last season. Rashford spent that dude a couple of times.

Top 4 will be pool, city, lec city, chelsea with Arsenal putting up a fight . But that’s it. Too much fire power from those teams.

As a chelsea fan, Arsenal is always the joke, especially regarding Ashley Cole, Cech, and now Luiz. But straight up, if Arsenal wore blue , I would have been an Arsenal fan in a heartbeat.

Claude Makelee and chelsea wearing blue was the reason for me to become a chelsea fan back in 2000.

I secretly root for them motherfuckers. But spurs? Fock him!
2705234, Those two wins were so important for Villa
Posted by magilla vanilla, Tue Oct-22-19 10:10 AM
Got a huge test at the Emptyhead this weekend, then we get to host the champs. It'll be good to go in there with some confidence, and Smith's going to have the squad go at them. Grealish is really thriving as a hybrid winger/AM (which also allows Hourihane into the side), and I think Marvelous might be able to give De Bruyne fits in the areas in front of the back four.

on paper things look grea:, we scored 5, kept a clean sheet, Mbappe scored a hat-trick as a sub, and we've got 9pts from 3 games aka almost assuredly through to the knock-outs. And yet, outside of Mbappe and DiMaria, we got pushed around by a -decent but- much smaller team. Maybe Gueye really is the key at MF this year, because this Marquinhos shit isn't gonna fly when we have to play a big team. With our forward line we need Gattuso energy in the middle, and while Herrera can kinda do that, Verrati still thinks getting a silly yellow for an out-of-control tackle counts as good defending. And in the back Thiago Silva is clearly playing for his next contract, but those around him are showing very little serenity, especially Kimpembe

This NBC EPL is American thing is just so over the top and people walking
around in Pulisic masks and screaming pulisic. Shit just becomes so Americanized. They dont do this in Europe.

This isn’t pulisic FC this is chelsea FC... and you can tell that Lampard is annoyed with it as well for constantly being question about not playing pulisic even though we were winning.

Maybe I have the wrong perception because I grew up on watching European and South American soccer , where they don’t fall in love with a single player.

Americans will love shit just because it is American and for that to rule
over everything else. It’s totally different than when Donovan was outstanding
With Everton, soccer had not really become a craze yet in America , and Everton was a smaller club, And Donovan was always respected by Europeans.

I just don’t want chelsea to turn into this huge American thing, and it is, got chelsea fans who are just pulisic fans, and never really knew about Chelsea before.

Well this is what Roman wanted...huge american dollars.

How the f’k do you get sh’t (excluding offsides) more wrong than right?

This isn’ta Homer complaint because as of today I’m actually pulling for bad results, Emry HAS to go and any delay make things much worse in long term.

But this really was cemented for me when I was the Ajax/chelski game. Ajax scores, it was pure joy and just beautiful. Then two minutes later it goes to var and get overruled. With no replay. It kills the live experience. The benefit (debatable) is no where near the cost.

And the fact these refs never actually have the guts to look at the screen tells it all.
2705798, i wouldnt give it that much tbh

they gave us a BS pen. james fell into the guy and initiated the contact

then they gave us one for a handball which was legit.

that mess on yalls 3rd goal...lol. but then it got the CP pen call right though.

its so so unreliable.
2705799, Also, Xhaka has to be stripped of the captaincy

Like that’s the dictionary definition of what it wold take to lose the badge. I’d have so sympathy if he at last tried to jog off. F’k that slow bum

Feels like a key day, like no way unai survives this much longer, no way, right?

Nothing else really matters

Also, maybe we start seeing Özil in PL, or at least making the bench?

Hopefully the whole xhaka thing causes him to eventually leave the club either this upcoming transfer window or the summer.

Preferably with unai
2706233, You Arsenal fans should consider watching/supporting your Women's team

https://www.arsenal.com/

(streaming UWCL game right now, shouldn't be a challenge until next round though)

They are not fucking up or around lately, last season's Super League title holder.

I'll save talking too much more about women's soccer again until they have their Women's weekend in England mid-November maybe.
