2699710, Mike Conley to Jazz Posted by Frank Longo, Wed Jun-19-19 01:41 PM
Jazz receive Conley.
Grizz receive Grayson Allen, Jae Crowder, Kyle Korver, this year's first, and a future first that's either late lotto 2020 or 2021 or lightly protected in 2022-2024.
Good deal for both imo. For the Jazz, Conley fills a super-obvious need and makes them instantly better. He'll pair well with Mitchell. Meanwhile, I don't think the Grizz were getting better than two firsts, last year's first, and a role player like Crowder for two years of a 32-33 year old PG, even one as good as Conley. They're deep in a rebuild around Morant and Jackson, so young assets are the name of the game.

2699713, Best active player who hasn't made an All Star team. Posted by Ryan M, Wed Jun-19-19 01:43 PM
Perfect fit for the Jazz, too.

2699717, Good move for the Jazz. Definitely makes them better Posted by mrhood75, Wed Jun-19-19 01:52 PM
They've been on the edge between first and second tier in the West, and this could push them in the right direction.

2699752, Well, sure. Posted by Ryan M, Wed Jun-19-19 03:20 PM
But they kinda feel like Grit & Grind Grizz 2.0 and any time you can get a real all star caliber player in Utah, it's a win.
|
2699774, Eh, it moves them out of the middle. And they'd be a dangerous team Posted by mrhood75, Wed Jun-19-19 03:51 PM
Rockets are likely moving out of the second round. Who knows who things shake out with the Warriors next season. The Jazz could well be a difficult match-up for anyone.
|
2699805, Hard to say where they stand given the uncertainty but ... Posted by ConcreteCharlie, Wed Jun-19-19 07:56 PM
last year I feel like they were a second-round team who underachieved a bit, and now they just got better. we'll see what their bench looks like in the end and also how everything else moves around in the west.

2699747, He's in the "NBA." It's a basketball league for non-Maryland players. Posted by Frank Longo, Wed Jun-19-19 03:16 PM
If you're ever interested, tune in, there are some really good players you may recognize there from when they played against Maryland the last several years.

Grayson 40-point games: 1 Maryland NBA players combined 40-point games: 1 (yep, Steve Francis)
He matched the entire MD alumni group in one year. Pretty crazy!

2699794, Walt Williams dropped 40 his rookie year. Nice try Posted by Castro, Wed Jun-19-19 06:45 PM

Sorry, Grayson Allen has insisted merely achieved in one year 50% of Maryland alumni’s cumulative forty point NBA games. Apologies.

2699751, Who signs Rubio then? Posted by Marauder21, Wed Jun-19-19 03:19 PM
Got to imagine the Lakers are going to take a look
|
2699754, I don't know if he fits what we want to do. Posted by Ryan M, Wed Jun-19-19 03:22 PM
Or what it seems like we want to do, anyway.
I could see the Mavs, Pacers, Kings, or Celtics taking a look.
|
2699757, Celtics would be a decent fit. Posted by Frank Longo, Wed Jun-19-19 03:26 PM
They turned Jaylen Brown from a terrible shooter into an okay-to-fine shooter, and they got Terry Rozier to make shots for a three month stretch once. Maybe they could get a similar stretch out of Rubio.
|
2699760, He's played well with Hayward before too. Posted by Ryan M, Wed Jun-19-19 03:31 PM
They might be better off renouncing Rozier and taking Rubio.

2699787, Oh, that's *undeniably* true. Posted by Frank Longo, Wed Jun-19-19 05:29 PM

2699808, what the hell? lmfao Posted by cgonz00cc, Wed Jun-19-19 08:02 PM
he might be poor man's version of Lonzo's *potential*
but for Lonzo to match Rubio right today....that would require a massive step from Lonzo
|
2699810, Neither can shoot but Lonzo’s age led you to believe he might get... Posted by ThaTruth, Wed Jun-19-19 08:21 PM
better, either way the last thing Bron and AD need is a non-shooting guard they might as well keep Rondo around
|
2699803, Depends on his asking price, really. Posted by ConcreteCharlie, Wed Jun-19-19 07:46 PM
|
2699804, Pretty good deal, Utah was a solid team last year and this fills a need Posted by ConcreteCharlie, Wed Jun-19-19 07:47 PM
I don't think Memphis was getting any great roster players here. Two firsts that will be in the 10-20 range most likely sounds about right. For Utah they give up a fair amount of depth here to make the salaries match, but I imagine they have an idea of how to fill out their rotation.

2700016, Salute to the greatest Grizz player ever. Posted by guru0509, Fri Jun-21-19 12:22 PM
If he was in the east he would have made at least 5 all star games
As his OKP agent, it’s been an honor

2700020, Marc Gasol was a 3-time All-Star, First-team All-NBA & DPOY... Posted by ThaTruth, Fri Jun-21-19 12:34 PM
but I’m looking forward to seeing Conley and Donovan Mitchell in the backcourt together.
|
2700046, i didnt know marc gasol played PG Posted by guru0509, Fri Jun-21-19 02:53 PM
>but I’m looking forward to seeing Conley and Donovan >Mitchell in the backcourt together.
|
2700052, It said "player," not guard or point guard. Posted by ConcreteCharlie, Fri Jun-21-19 03:44 PM
I'd take both Gasols over him for the title of best Grizz player. I'd have to think about MCJ vs ZBo
|
2700055, Agreed. Conley was their Mo Cheeks Posted by DJR, Fri Jun-21-19 03:48 PM
The steady constant across eras. But there was usually somebody better on the team(always, in Cheeks’ case).
No disrespect to those Sixers teams with the comparison, as they obviously accomplished a lot more.
|
2700066, i thought i said point guard my bad Posted by guru0509, Fri Jun-21-19 04:56 PM
the west was top heavy with PGs hence his omission (and i sorta get it)
if lowry makes 5 asgs in the east,
so does conley. easily.
>I'd take both Gasols over him for the title of best Grizz >player. I'd have to think about MCJ vs ZBo
i honestly cant even remeber paus time in memphis id be lying if i said i did i have to go back and look

2700065, agreed Posted by hardware, Fri Jun-21-19 04:37 PM
Pretty much the glue for the entire team great player, great leader, which to me, counts for more than all-star game appearances

They're 36-21 and this time last year were 32-25.

2718956, Conley is ass. Posted by Cenario, Wed Sep-02-20 12:09 AM
Wow

2718990, I can't agree. Posted by Ryan M, Wed Sep-02-20 04:27 PM
He was not the problem in this series, and a quarter inch either way that shot goes in and nobody is talking about this.
