2697517, Champions League Final 2019: Getting an early start on Brexit
Posted by smutsboy, Thu May-30-19 04:24 PM
Gonna be English one way or the other. Suck it, continent.

I'm confident, which is generally a bad idea.

Not that I underestimate Spurs. But I expect LFC to be all business, from Virgil on forward.

Keita out for LFC. Firmino should be back in.

I assume Gini the Barca Killer will start in Keita's spot alongside Hendo & Fabinho.
2697534, Spurs 13/8, LFC 1/2
Posted by Buck, Thu May-30-19 07:10 PM
Actually closer than I thought it might be.
2697544, It's one match in a low event sport
Posted by smutsboy, Thu May-30-19 09:33 PM
anything can happen
2697586, i feel great. Nothing to lose and the Harrys are back
Posted by bshelly, Fri May-31-19 04:23 AM
2697596, spurs are winning unfortunately
Posted by BrooklynWHAT, Fri May-31-19 08:10 AM
not that liverpool winning would be any better but i've at least seen them win something of note in my life so it's not the worst thing in the world
can't say the same for spurs.
2697604, smh... of course they will
Posted by calminvasion, Fri May-31-19 09:51 AM
2697610, Spurs 3 Lilliput 1
Posted by Selassie I God, Fri May-31-19 10:28 AM
Son is my favorite non-Everton player, so he gets this trophy. I love Salah, but I hate Jurgen Klopp 10000000 times more
2697677, Hating on a guy who quotes Salt N Pepa is a mistake.

2697651, I haven’t met a single Liverpool fan who feels good about today.
Posted by smutsboy, Sat Jun-01-19 12:57 PM
Wheeeeeeeeeeee
2697652, They're gonna roll.
Posted by Buck, Sat Jun-01-19 01:03 PM
Spurs are a good squad, and they'll put up a good fight for 50'-60', but it's all gonna be too much in the end. 2-1 Liverpool.
2697655, dammmmnnnn
Posted by benny, Sat Jun-01-19 02:05 PM
2697656, welp
Posted by BrooklynWHAT, Sat Jun-01-19 02:05 PM
2697657, I don't understand that call.
Posted by dagu, Sat Jun-01-19 02:07 PM
If his arm had been at his side the ball still would have hit it. Would it have been a penalty then?
2697658, Seemed the right call to me
Posted by benny, Sat Jun-01-19 02:09 PM
2697659, ^^^
Posted by calminvasion, Sat Jun-01-19 02:19 PM
2697670, Yep. That’s the new handball rule going forward

Basically if the ball hits you anywhere outside The frame of your shoulders then they’re gonna give a pen. Took effect today

2697680, 100% the right call
Posted by smutsboy, Sat Jun-01-19 08:03 PM
Exceptionally dumb mistake by Sissoko.

A little unlucky. But very dumb to have your arm raised there.
2697660, Firmino is ghostin
Posted by benny, Sat Jun-01-19 02:34 PM
Edit
2697661, what boring football
Posted by bshelly, Sat Jun-01-19 03:03 PM
2697662, The 3 week break clearly didn’t help
Posted by benny, Sat Jun-01-19 03:07 PM
2697663, Delli Alli has literally done EVERYTHING wrong so far.
Posted by PROMO, Sat Jun-01-19 03:09 PM
2697664, This match isn't as bad as all that.
Posted by Buck, Sat Jun-01-19 03:20 PM
Two teams that know everything about each other, and how to defend.
2697665, thats a veeeery generous intepretation
Posted by benny, Sat Jun-01-19 03:28 PM
Looking like a preseason game to me so far
2697667, Sloppy, to be sure.
Posted by Buck, Sat Jun-01-19 03:48 PM
2697668, Perhaps Kane shouldn't have started?
Posted by Buck, Sat Jun-01-19 03:49 PM
EDIT: oops....thought Llorente came on for him.
2697686, I think a C would be a very generous grade
Posted by ConcreteCharlie, Sat Jun-01-19 10:05 PM
One of the things I love about the futbol press is that they will tell you when a game isn't that great or flat out sucks. There is no Joe Theissmann type dickhole out there telling you that the 13-3 turnover fest between two 5-11 teams that the network would never have scheduled if there were any flexibility whatsoever is a barn-burner.

The first half was pretty much trash, at least Liverpool moved the ball with some purpose when they had it. Tottenham in the final third was ridiculously bad and they barely picked it up once they opened up their game a little. Kane, Eriksen, those guys were basically invisible. Liverpool didn't exactly hit back hard but they took a more defensive posture, I guess, and the last strike was nice.

I was expecting a disappointing match with all the hot ones behind us but this fell below my expectations anyway. I was pretty bored. Happy for some of the guys on the Liverpool side though and happy to see Kane flop on the big stage.
2697687, awful match
Posted by smutsboy, Sat Jun-01-19 10:08 PM
I loved every minute.
2697703, i thought Eriksen was okay, but just okay
Posted by cgonz00cc, Sun Jun-02-19 08:32 AM
Dele was active at least, but only Son seemed like a threat to really do anything

would have rather seen what Ziyech/Neres/Tadic could have done
2697666, Virgil...man of the match.
Posted by Castro, Sat Jun-01-19 03:44 PM
2697673, Him or Andy robertson
Posted by smutsboy, Sat Jun-01-19 04:23 PM
At this point I expect absolute perfection from Virg
2697676, ol girl that ran on the field.
Posted by BrooklynWHAT, Sat Jun-01-19 05:13 PM
2697669, Poor game. Spurs didn’t have the composure to test Liverpool

The goals that dude scored this year
2697718, Liverpool def deserved something for their season
Posted by Sir Migs, Sun Jun-02-19 07:24 PM
But can we talk about how bad Turner has been in broadcasting the CL this season. Fox was bad, but Turner has taken it to a whole new level of terrible. Why is Steve Nash on there? Holden looks like an Ellen-clone and doesnt add much. Don't mind the woman, I think she does a decent enough job hosting.

And they didn't even send their own commentators to the game. And the switch of announcers/feed at halftime was embarrassing.
2697726, It's awful
Posted by smutsboy, Sun Jun-02-19 08:09 PM
> the switch of announcers/feed at halftime was embarrassing.

Yeah. Not sure I've ever seen that before.

The partnership with Bleacherreport is garbage. There are few sports web sites I hate more than that one.
2697739, their coverage is horrible. i thought it couldnt get worse than fox
Posted by BrooklynWHAT, Sun Jun-02-19 08:47 PM
both of them making me long for the days where ESPN would switch to the game like 30 secs before it started, and switch as soon as that shit ended
2697741, RE: their coverage is horrible. i thought it couldnt get worse than fox
Posted by Sir Migs, Sun Jun-02-19 09:10 PM
I thought Fox with Lalas and that other older white dude was bad. This shit was LEVELS worse.
2697720, well that was shite
Posted by bshelly, Sun Jun-02-19 07:37 PM
Credit to Pool and VVD, who I now hate with a fiery passion. We just couldn’t get a single thing going.
2697729, But they're so likable and attractive.
Posted by smutsboy, Sun Jun-02-19 08:14 PM
Jurgen. Robbo. Firmino. Salah. Mane. Virg. Trent. All of em

So handsome. So talented.

Spurs sholda started Moura. Kane was a waste up front and thinking he could be that impactful after the long layoff was foolish. Should have used him as a supersub. Spurs defence played well though.
2697787, We arguably and irrelevantly outplayed them
Posted by bshelly, Mon Jun-03-19 09:22 AM
Irrelevant because Pool was sitting on a lead all game, but still. We got em on expected goals.

And I don’t think Moura would’ve made a difference. Without some midfielders who can physically beat the first defender, you’re not scoring on Liverpool.
2697750, Having watched the match a day late on DVR
Posted by Selassie I God, Sun Jun-02-19 09:43 PM
I pretty much agree with what everyone has already said;

1) The match was underwhelming, sloppy, and borderline MLS-like

2) The handball was legit, but it seemed like they were trying to give Liverpool the advantage early and that made it easier.

3) Spurs couldn't generate anything. Kane was basically a shadow...to say a decoy is being generous. Son's best chance got swatted by van Dijk. Erikson was good, but not his usual level of good. Rose....ineffective.

4) My hatred for Jurgen Klopp is at ShEli Manning, Chris Sale, Ed Hochuli levels of hatred. F*CK HIM

That video is part of it. His humility level is zero, and I can't stand that in anyone.

He comes off very fake to me. I read people by their actions and reactions in certain circumstances, and he seems to have a "plastic smile".

The dick move he pulled when he ran on the pitch against Everton earlier this season....and it gets excused away because he's "enthusiastic and personable"...FOH

Plus, I'm an Everton guy and he's the Liverpool manager
2698174, I get the rivalry
Posted by smutsboy, Fri Jun-07-19 10:21 AM
And if I were Everton I'd probably be pissed when he ran on the field.

But the rest of the soccer universe needs more personality like his.

Compare his ego and personality to some wet blanket douchebag ego like Mourinho. Or all the boring milksops like nearly every British manager.
