Tyreke Evans dismissed from NBA for violating league's anti-drug program
Tyreke Evans has been dismissed from the NBA for violating the league’s anti-drug program.
The league announced the ban Friday afternoon.
“The NBA announced today that Tyreke Evans has been dismissed and disqualified from the league for violating the terms of the NBA/NBPA anti-drug program,” a release reads. “Under the anti-drug program, Evans is eligible to apply for reinstatement in two years.”
The release also noted that the league is not permitted to discuss details of a player’s failed drug test other than to announce a suspension or dismissal.
Evans, 29, just completed his 10th season in the NBA. A pending free agent, Evans spent this season with the Indiana Pacers, his fourth team since being selected as the No. 4 pick by the Sacramento Kings in the 2009 NBA draft.

2696573, why do you say he should've been better than he was? Posted by falafel stand pimpin, Sat May-18-19 10:32 AM

2696575, he was probably high lol, anybody that works hard enough to gain... Posted by ThaTruth, Sat May-18-19 10:59 AM
that level of skill and last as long as hell did definitely loves playing the game now playing in the NBA and the restrictions on his personal activities he probably didn't enjoy. The fact that he was flat out dismissed for 2 years suggests he was into some pretty heavy shit and to my knowledge he hadn't had any drug suspensions prior.
|
2696676, He's actualliy not very physically gifted. He had a fine career. Posted by Orbit_Established, Mon May-20-19 05:52 AM
Tyreke isn't a super athlete.
He worked on his game just fine. Seems like he just peaked early. It happens.
Of course, if he was battling addiction, that also hurts whatever progress
But to say that he didn't enjoy basketball is just stupid.
This is you we're talking about, though, and you're a troll.

2696550, Man. Sad news Posted by obsidianchrysalis, Fri May-17-19 07:55 PM
Hopefully he gets help as a human being. Even if he never plays ball again.
But like another poster said, he never seemed to tap his potential. If he was struggling with emotional issues involving addiction it's likely his mind couldn't focus solely on basketball.
Sad when anyone suffers from addiction but especially so when that person has a great talent.

2696595, Crazy that he's only 29, feels like he's had his whole career arch already Posted by ConcreteCharlie, Sat May-18-19 02:55 PM
He was still a decent Per 36 player, even this past season, but never seemed to put it all together. I am not going to make any assumptions about that. This seems pretty drastic given that his previous issues were team suspensions or personal issues, but I guess we've seen similar stuff with like OJ Mayo and the Birdman.

2696646, Damn, I Forgot ALL About OJ Mayo Posted by RexLongfellow, Sun May-19-19 12:57 PM
That was a SERIOUS agenda, lol
But yeah, I thought Evans was way older than that. It's a damn shame because at his best he could be a decent starter/reserve role a la Evan Turner. No shame in that.
Can't believe he went from ROY to this

2696691, yeah i didn't get that though i do think there are some guys who don't Posted by ConcreteCharlie, Mon May-20-19 02:38 PM
love the game. michael olawakandi didn't love the game. andrew bynum didn't love the game. rony seikaly didn't love the game (but he loved what the game gave him). some guys are so genetically gifted that it's almost like why *wouldn't* they play professionally? i don't think evans was part of that group though.
