On paper, we’re in a great position:

* We have space to max out two players in maybe the best FA class of all time
* We own all our own draft picks, plus a boatload of others
* We have no bad contracts on the books
* We have a core of interesting young talent

So I understand why some fans would be excited—there are a lot of teams who could take that foundation and build something incredible on top of it.

The problem is that the Knicks are not one of those teams. We’ll build the walls out of asbestos and install toilets made of fire.
