DPOY: 1. PG13, 2. Rudy (he'll almost certainly get it by the end of the year; they were just so bad, even defensively, to start the season), 3. Myles Turner (This year, this award feels like it should be cancelled and just retroactively given to Kevin Garnett or Tim Duncan)

ROY: 1. Euro Harden, 2. JJJ, 3. A very solid starter disguised as a number one pick

CotY: 1. Atkinson, 2. Doc, 3. Pop or McMillan

6th Man: 1. Fuck, it has to be Lou, huh? 2. Sabonis, 3. D-Rose (R.I.P. J.J. Barea)

MIP: 1. Siakam, 2. Winslow, 3. Booker (never have thought he's been an actual good NBA player until this season)

2684893, You pretty much nailed it fam...though I'd swap Jokic for Steph

Cuz he always seemed to impact the game when I have seen them play.
2684943, no, he's become a markedly better shooter from three...
Posted by Dstl1, Fri Jan-18-19 03:52 PM
he also has refined and tightened his handle so he can take people off the bounce. Last year dribbling more than a few times had him falling down like a baby deer.

2688358, Paul George has to be top 3 in the MVP race.
Posted by ThaTruth, Wed Feb-20-19 03:10 AM
2688359, I’d have him 3rd. Maybe 4th.
Posted by Ryan M, Wed Feb-20-19 03:58 AM
It sucks he’s having his best year when Giannis and Harden have been otherworldly. Kawhi has been amazing too - but I think PG probably edges him. Amazing year for the NBA.
2688360, To Me It's Between Him and Giannis
Posted by RexLongfellow, Wed Feb-20-19 04:01 AM
Between the way they play and their team's records, those are the top 2.

Harden's 3rd
2688396, yeah, now.... I'm definitely in for NyQuil and Gianni Dogg
Posted by Dr Claw, Wed Feb-20-19 12:39 PM
PG is washing people in The Green Death
2688421, the argument against george:
Posted by dula dibiasi, Wed Feb-20-19 02:27 PM
- much better sidekick than giannis or harden (or jokic for that matter, although he has moved ahead of jokic on my ballot)

- george ranks highly in all the categories that matter (player impact plus-minus, player impact estimate, win shares, box plus-minus, value over replacement player, player efficiency rating, real plus-minus, wins above replacement player) but isn't the actual leader in any of them, while giannis and harden are

- george himself has harden as the mvp: https://www.actionnetwork.com/nba/paul-george-james-harden-case-nba-mvp-2018-19-season

so he's definitely behind giannis and harden for me, but solidly in 3rd. dude is killing shit, basically having a 2014 KD season with 2016 steph shooting and 2017 kawhi defense. sick.
2688439, You just explained why George is the MVP here
Posted by Orbit_Established, Wed Feb-20-19 06:07 PM
basically having a 2014
>KD season with 2016 steph shooting and 2017 kawhi defense.
>sick.

That's an MVP

2688400, There's ONE player who has an MVP argument over Jokic
Posted by khn, Wed Feb-20-19 01:08 PM
Giannis.

That's it.

He's goofy and has the athletic ability of moldy bread so I get it.

But while you go about your day, just know that you were probably here in this post, being wrong.
2688401, he's improved but he's still a liability on D at a critical position
Posted by ThaTruth, Wed Feb-20-19 01:28 PM
2688414, Is that supposed to mean anything?
Posted by khn, Wed Feb-20-19 01:55 PM
Particularly considering that the Nuggets are the second best team in the west when most thought a successful season would be making the playoffs. Or that they've done so while having more critical players miss significant time than any other team. And of course, GOATic has steadfastly balled out and put up ridiculous stats that have translated into wins all damn year.

Is any part of that not MVP material? Oh, he doesn't play defense. I guess we should give it to Harden, then.

Again, I give it up to Giannis so far but for Niko to hardly be mentioned in here... lulz!
2688430, No. It means nothing. He never knows what he’s talking about.
Posted by TheRealBillyOcean, Wed Feb-20-19 04:08 PM
2688451, Based on what?
Posted by Premiere, Wed Feb-20-19 08:29 PM
His top competitors all run better offenses, and you admit he's an outright liability on D. They've repeatedly fizzled when playing the league's best, and he has more talent alongside him than Harden has all year and even arguably Giannis, injuries included.

So, what the fuck are you talking about? Jokic has been really, really good. Probably the seventh or eighth best player in the league. But he's a liability on one end, and Houston, Golden State, and Milwaukee all sport better offenses.

He wins a lot, but Milwaukee, Toronto and Golden State win more. So... this is dumb. We get it. The passes are pretty. So are Ben Simmons and Lonzo's.
2688413, MIP is interesting this year
Posted by Amritsar, Wed Feb-20-19 01:55 PM
though I'd probably give it to Fox because he's the focal point of this Kings squad that might even make the playoffs (!)

Not sure many people saw this coming. Not many Kings fan that I know of anyway.
2688424, Fox is a top 3 favorite story of this year's NBA
Posted by Dr Claw, Wed Feb-20-19 03:25 PM
just see RBO's post on him, LOL

even if he was Homer Simpson he lookin' like OJ right about now
