2677538, you gotta understand, the bar is SO low in this organization

this is a club that hasn't made it to the East finals since 1979.

To call them consistently mediocre would be an insult to consistently mediocre teams like the Mavericks or Heat. Those teams at least broke through eventually before settling back into mediocrity. The Wizards have basically never ascended from their traditional bottom-four-seeds-best.

So the standards are laughably low. Low enough to sell Gilbert Arenas, Caron Butler, and Antawn Jamison as a title-contending big three (lol).

Low enough to employ Ernie Grunfeld for over a decade. The same Ernie Grunfeld who thought it was smart to put Andray Blatche, Nick Young, and Javale McGee on the same team. The same Ernie Grunfeld who gave Ian Mahinmi 16 Million a year in an effort to save face after hometown hero Kevin Durant wouldn't even GIVE THEM A MEETING.

It's a losers' environment, and because the bar is so low there is no incentive to ever get better. That starts from the top on down. So, surely, if the decision makers never improve then the players won't either.
