Pacers
Wiz
Bucks
Pistons
Spurs
Pels
Nuggets

all woulda been much better.

not to mention boring teams that'll still be more competitive than the knicks.
2670241, The Knicks and Lakers always get 12/25 games, even if they suck
Posted by ConcreteCharlie, Thu Aug-09-18 02:01 AM
2670409, This is about enticing Giannis to come to New York.
Posted by Castro, Fri Aug-10-18 09:54 AM
2670219, Would've guessed that Warriors/Lakers would be opening night
Posted by mrhood75, Wed Aug-08-18 05:29 PM
And Warriors/Rockets would have been Christmas, along with Lakers/Boston.

As a fan, I wanna see the best possible Xmas day matchups

BOS PHI way better

2670390, in YOUR opinion...so, just don't watch that one...
Posted by Dstl1, Fri Aug-10-18 06:31 AM
yall keep saying Boston/Philly...well, they ARE playing that day. There's always 5 games. No way that LeBron against GS is not gonna be one of them. Did the Lakers play GS last Christmas? No, the Cavs did. Stop being silly, man.
2670480, Rockets/Warriors >>>>>
Posted by Amritsar, Sat Aug-11-18 08:44 AM
I'm confused why this is so controversial

there are way better (actual opponents) we could've matched up against
2670483, fam, there's nothing controversial...
Posted by Dstl1, Sat Aug-11-18 09:57 AM
like, at all. You're acting like you can't understand why the league would schedule Lebron as a fucking LA LAKER against the GOLDEN STATE WARRIORS on CHRISTMAS DAY!!!
2670484, If you’ve got the Warriors, Lakers, Rockets, and Thunder...
Posted by DJR, Sat Aug-11-18 10:09 AM

Posted by bshelly, Thu Aug-09-18 11:45 AM
if they get kawhi and klay next year, sure they're a rival. not this year though
2670314, Why would Klay go to the Lakers?
Posted by mrhood75, Thu Aug-09-18 01:03 PM
2670317, because his dad, they're the Lakers, and he gets sick of being 4th banana

2670322, His Dad who's been telling everyone that he's staying with the Warriors?
Posted by mrhood75, Thu Aug-09-18 01:13 PM
Klay has never showed he's cared at all about the so-called Lakers "mystique."

And Klay is about the most chill player on the team, who loves living in the Bay Area, and has never showed any desire to be the "top dog."

And even if he did, why would he then go to the Lakers where he'd be behind LeBron?
2670313, Truth. Giving them the Christmas and MLK games are weird
Posted by mrhood75, Thu Aug-09-18 01:02 PM
We play the Lakers four times every season. We'll likely play them once before Christmas or even in-between Christmas and MLK Day.

Seems like the Christmas Day and MLK games are better suited for teams that only play each other twice a year, like Boston or Philly. Or teams that are, you know, going to be better than the Lakers.

And good to see Lakers fans all up in their feeling so early on.
2670383, So so much butt hurt lmao
Posted by Amritsar, Thu Aug-09-18 11:12 PM
I’m a nobody. I never get replies on here lmao

Not like this

You know it’s bad when LA2Pnilly gets personal
2670474, More concerning when fans of a dynasty care about holiday opponents
Posted by LA2Philly, Sat Aug-11-18 01:21 AM
As to the Bay Area insecurity, I’ve called it out multiple times on this board - across all sports. It’s nurture, ya’ll can’t help it.
2670478, we will never be shook by this Laker team
Posted by Amritsar, Sat Aug-11-18 08:42 AM
I'm confused as to why i have to argue this

Oh yeah I do. Laker fan entitlement
2670496, And yet two W’s fans in here talking about the Lakers
Posted by LA2Philly, Sat Aug-11-18 11:37 AM
2670592, bec they scheduled us. jesus lol
Posted by Amritsar, Mon Aug-13-18 07:16 AM
which brings me back to my fuckin original point that garnered all this butthurt

you aren't our rival

Laker fans sound like dudes who peaked in h.s. That was then. This is now
2670407, there's only 1 team that will be better than us when it matters
Posted by BrooklynWHAT, Fri Aug-10-18 09:44 AM
and clearly yall are shook by that Lakers X Lebron special edition collabo.
2670433, Yeah, I'm not even sure this Lakers team is > than the '18 Cavs
Posted by mrhood75, Fri Aug-10-18 12:45 PM
And I'm concerned more about what I'm going to have for breakfast next week than this Lakers team.
2670472, smh
Posted by justin_scott, Fri Aug-10-18 11:16 PM
yeah, okay dude.
2670513, Worry about making the play-offs first, dude
Posted by mrhood75, Sat Aug-11-18 02:52 PM
Then you can argue about whether or not you’re better than a team that made the Finals.
2670486, you aint gotta lie to kick it
Posted by BrooklynWHAT, Sat Aug-11-18 10:33 AM
2670489, goodness, man
Posted by Dstl1, Sat Aug-11-18 10:45 AM
.
2670492, LMAO. yea that 2018 Cavs team w/ 40+ starting lineups
Posted by Vex_id, Sat Aug-11-18 11:16 AM
sure was a great team.

Lakers are stacked with young, athletic wings who can play the modern game. Cavs ran a slow, archaic system with abysmal defense.

Lance Stephenson or Rondo would've easily been the 3rd best player on the Cavs. Those guys likely won't even start on this Laker squad.

-->
2670493, I'm crying, lol!! Only 2 guys averaged double digit points in the ECF
Posted by Dstl1, Sat Aug-11-18 11:23 AM
.
2670501, Didn’t even need to be said but co-sign
Posted by LA2Philly, Sat Aug-11-18 11:44 AM
2670500, All up in those Bay Area insecure feels
Posted by LA2Philly, Sat Aug-11-18 11:43 AM
2670512, That’s some James Dolan level of projecting.
Posted by mrhood75, Sat Aug-11-18 02:47 PM
Always fun to see Lakers fans in their mid season insecure/mad form.
2670527, Lets look at your posts in here:
Posted by LA2Philly, Sat Aug-11-18 06:49 PM
1 - Why is the most popular team in the league who just added the best player in the league scheduled for showcase games?

2 - A roster with KLove and middling roster players > Lakers 2018 roster.

You just can't help it, it's comedy.
2670544, Dude, are you seriously having problems reading?
Posted by mrhood75, Sun Aug-12-18 12:31 AM
>1 - Why is the most popular team in the league who just added
>the best player in the league scheduled for showcase games?

I said the Lakers should play the Celtics on Christmas. That's still a "showcase" game, right? The Warriors should play the Rockets. Oh, and KD is the best player in the league. And I don't think you can make a convincing argument that Lakers are more popular than the Warriors.

>2 - A roster with KLove and middling roster players > Lakers
>2018 roster.

No, I said that I'm not convinced that this Lakers team, that still hasn't played a game together, are better than the '18 Cavaliers team that just played in the Finals. That's not a controversial statement.
2670545, Ah, you're just trolling. Got it
Posted by LA2Philly, Sun Aug-12-18 01:00 AM
>Oh, and KD is the best player in the league.

Carry on
2670548, So that's a "yes" to the reading problems?
Posted by mrhood75, Sun Aug-12-18 01:37 AM
2670473, Lolz - the NBA is about ratings, always has been
Posted by LA2Philly, Sat Aug-11-18 01:19 AM
Don’t let the insecurity blind you to the obvious
2670476, yeah they're scheduling TV programming lol.
Posted by cgonz00cc, Sat Aug-11-18 06:58 AM
they would schedule a G-League game if they thought ppl would watch it
2670497, Lol right
Posted by LA2Philly, Sat Aug-11-18 11:38 AM
2670479, as if a Rockets-Warriors game wouldn't net the same ratings
Posted by Amritsar, Sat Aug-11-18 08:43 AM
you know, the WCF matchup

an actual worthy opponent
2670491, do you actually believe that?
Posted by cgonz00cc, Sat Aug-11-18 11:16 AM
because i would liquidate my entire life and bet it all that youre wrong.
2670499, I wasn’t lying about those Bay Area feelings
Posted by LA2Philly, Sat Aug-11-18 11:41 AM
2670505, keep on repeating the same dumb line
Posted by Amritsar, Sat Aug-11-18 01:50 PM
Rockets Dubs is a far more enticing matchup and you know it.
2670511, He got his bike stolen from MacArthur BART back in the days
Posted by mrhood75, Sat Aug-11-18 02:44 PM
He’s been in his feelings ever since.
2670524, Lolz, ya'll proving the point in this very post
Posted by LA2Philly, Sat Aug-11-18 06:38 PM
Same reaction every time....it's not us, it's you!!! *silently peels NorCal sticker off car*

It's prevalent whenever I was and am up there and you two are proving it further; the only two people in this post who don't understand the blindingly obvious reasons why the NBA put the Lakers on major holidays are...two bay area guys.

Shocking coincidence.
2670526, I'm going to give you the benefit of the doubt...
Posted by mrhood75, Sat Aug-11-18 06:46 PM
...and assume you're not dense and can read.

Well, maybe not the second part, because I said in my first post that I thought they'd do the Lakers/Celtics on Christmas. And have the Warriors play, you know, an actual good team.
2670528, W's - Lakers is the biggest ratings matchup
Posted by LA2Philly, Sat Aug-11-18 06:54 PM
Defending champs that everyone loves to hate going against the best player in the league who was defeated by them multiple times....who is now on the league's most popular and upcoming team.

There are so many storylines there for the NBA to run with in the lead-up.
2670578, RE: I'm going to give you the benefit of the doubt...
Posted by Vex_id, Sun Aug-12-18 04:41 PM

>And have the Warriors play, you know, an actual good team.

bookmarked to note that you don't view the Lakers as a "good" team.

We'll see if that statement holds water as the season materializes.

-->
2670586, LOL. Yeah, you do that, guy.
Posted by mrhood75, Mon Aug-13-18 12:55 AM
Always fun to watch the bar being lowered in real time.
2670525, I'll ask again since you didn't respond below
Posted by LA2Philly, Sat Aug-11-18 06:44 PM
Why do we have the most national TV games of any team in the league?

Maybe because the most popular franchise in the league that now has the best player in the league draws huge ratings and the NBA - who understands marketing just a little bit considering their steady upward swing in ratings share amongst professional sports - wants to harness that as much as possible, including on holiday games.

It's pretty silly this even needs to be explained. Emotions have a funny way of clouding the rational lens.
2670593, This dude really giving me a marketing lesson lol
Posted by Amritsar, Mon Aug-13-18 07:20 AM
thanks?

You're talking numbers and how many hoes you have. My point was simple, there are ACTUAL rivals we could have been scheduled against

Somehow this veered off into a discussion about ratings and numbers. My original reply was qualitative - that this will never be a rivalry

2670504, I don't think it would be as off as you two suggest
Posted by Amritsar, Sat Aug-11-18 01:49 PM
its xmas. People are going to watch these games anyway

2670507, the NBA doesn't schedule for the ppl who are watching regardless
Posted by cgonz00cc, Sat Aug-11-18 01:59 PM
they schedule for people who were planning to watch The Santa Clause 2 BUT HEY LEBRON!
2670529, The core NBA contingent is always going to watch
Posted by LA2Philly, Sat Aug-11-18 06:55 PM
However, there are a lot of peripheral market bases who have to be drawn in based on emotional sells....oh Lebron is on the Lakers and wants revenge against the hated Warriors? Maybe I'll watch.

It's about maximizing the appeal and draw. That's what Lakers-W's does.
2670498, Yeh, that’s why the Rox have 43 natl TV games - most in the league
Posted by LA2Philly, Sat Aug-11-18 11:40 AM
And the highest net revenue in the league. O wait, that’s not the Rockets
2670318, LeBron is your rival - and you need 5 all-stars to deal w/ him.
Posted by Vex_id, Thu Aug-09-18 01:04 PM

-->
2670321, 1 loss in 2 series doesnt suggest much struggle lmao
Posted by cgonz00cc, Thu Aug-09-18 01:08 PM
2670323, Aside from when we've beaten him three times in the Finals.
Posted by mrhood75, Thu Aug-09-18 01:14 PM
2670325, with your whopping 2 all stars in 2015
Posted by cgonz00cc, Thu Aug-09-18 01:20 PM
2670466, Over the last four seasons the Warriors are 22-9 against LeBron
Posted by mrhood75, Fri Aug-10-18 06:34 PM
So calling this a "rivalry" is a bit of a stretch. We consistently beat him no matter where he is. Don't really see that changing in the near future.
2670490, lol at citing the last four years, then saying 'no matter where he is'
Posted by Vex_id, Sat Aug-11-18 11:00 AM
< We
>consistently beat him no matter where he is.

LeBron was in Cleveland for the last 4 years that you cited - so w/ that in mind you're only referring to his stint in Cleveland, *not* "no matter where he is."

Don't really see
>that changing in the near future.

I do. Perhaps not this year - but your dynasty will come to a halt as all dynasties do: in abrupt fashion. It's been a historic run w/ arguably the greatest assembly of talent ever - and you needed every bit of it to top LeBron in Cleveland.

But this is a different chapter now - and Los Angeles is a competent organization with real assets. We're not in Cleveland anymore, Dorothy.

-->
2670550, The Warriors/LeBron "rivalry" is essentially hammer vs. nail status
Posted by mrhood75, Sun Aug-12-18 02:12 AM
And it's pretty clear you're not over being hurt that the Warriors beat the brakes off of LeBron a few months back. Take as much time as you need. Make as many grand pronouncements as you like, it's not going to make any of it true.
2670561, both the Warriors & LeBron have been elevated by the rivalry.
Posted by Vex_id, Sun Aug-12-18 11:15 AM
LeBron's legacy experienced meteoric rise after 2016 - which featured the most historic (and improbable) NBA Title in league history. Had it not been for the all-time, talent-stacked Warrior team that LeBron toppled, his legacy would not be where it is today.

The Warriors are obviously in the pantheon of all-time great teams - and arguably are the greatest team ever assembled. It is in that context that LeBron's legacy has been solidified as he has been the underdog in every matchup, as every single sane analyst recognizes. As such, the fact that he has been competitive against the Warriors against the odds has only served to elevate his stature.

For the Warriors - they have also been elevated simply be beating LeBron in the Finals. Since the Cavs were such drastic underdogs, the Warriors needed the narrative of beating the greatest player in the game a top-2 GOAT in order to elevate their dynastic legacy.

All that being said - the rivalry isn't done. Let's see what happens in the next 4 years.

-->
2670567, lol the warriors haven't been elevated by beating lebron
Posted by Cenario, Sun Aug-12-18 12:42 PM
They've won 3 chips in 4 tries including a record setting 72 win season. Who they beat is irrelevant bc they have beaten everyone.
2670569, seriously. lol
Posted by cgonz00cc, Sun Aug-12-18 12:50 PM
2670573, not to the extent that LeBron's legacy has been elevated
Posted by Vex_id, Sun Aug-12-18 03:07 PM
by beating the Warriors in 2016 - so good point (since you're not disputing that).

-->
2670575, Not to the extent? No, not at all
Posted by Cenario, Sun Aug-12-18 03:52 PM
They beat everyone, whether it was head to head or by default bc they didn't advance.

Yes LeBron legacy increased by beating by upsetting the Warriors.

Warriors legacy increased by beating everyone 3 out of 4 seasons.
2670587, It's like you don't understand the game at all.
Posted by mrhood75, Mon Aug-13-18 12:56 AM

2670481, When we go play in LA. yeah
Posted by Amritsar, Sat Aug-11-18 08:48 AM
Couple different things to consider with that.

1. Its the Super Bowl everytime we step into in an opposing

2. Players in LA. You just know they're going hard the night before. lol
2670495, People like to watch the greatest
Posted by go mack, Sat Aug-11-18 11:35 AM
Its why Tiger always will get huge tv ratings even tho he may not ever put it all together and win. LBJ is a top 5 all time player, 2 if we are honest. People are going to keep watching him go against the best even if his team may not stand a chance.

Lakers/Warriors will get a lot better ratings than Rockets/Warriors despite the games maybe not being as close.
2670506, ppl clamoring to see Bron in December form
Posted by Amritsar, Sat Aug-11-18 01:54 PM
exerting maybe 60% on defense

These Laker fans can cry and be entitled all they want. Truth is, A Rockets Warriors game would've been far better
