2666215, Oh btw, the greatest player ever to don a Laker jersey..
Posted by melmag, Mon Jul-02-18 10:00 AM
is LeBron Raymone James

not Kareem.

not Shaq.

not Magic.

and certainly not "Mamba"

Basically, your long-standing Laker superheroes all bow in deference to King James now. An outsider.

that's gotta sting a lil as diehard Laker fans, no??

Moreover, LeBron could spend the next 4 yrs not even making the conference finals and his legacy as #2 GOAT is set in stone forever.
Anything more than that is a bonus.

Even more caustic is when Bron surpasses "Mamba" in every tangible records category, in the purp & yellow uni no less. As if Kobestan hasn't been rendered irrelevant enough.
It's akin to when Snoop came thru and crushed them New York buildings imo.

LAL is that thick pretty chick everyone's dying to wife, but Bron sees the harlot for who she is, so he's gonna play accordingly. In other words, the outsider is coming to captain morgan ya hoe!

Lastly, while yall Laker fans celebrate this acquisition as some kind of victory, recognize this as a coup d'etat in disguise. Bron's in town to uproot your establishment. He has no allegiance to your city. He's nothing more than a paid mercenary.

Enjoy the ride tho

in the past 5 years.

Your new BFF is coming to save the day, like he always does.

LeBron belongs to no franchise - and that's been so abundantly clear. He's taking over L.A. for the time being - it's simply the next stop en route to becoming the only player in NBA history to have his jersey retired in 3 different arena.

This is an improving team with a lot of young, high draft picks that have shown much promise and improvement, and future cap space to keep getting better, and now the best player in the league.

LeBron is a smart man and recognized a great opportunity with a legendary franchise that’s on the come up.
2666327, all I did was cite a fact that makes some uncomfy.
Posted by Vex_id, Mon Jul-02-18 11:50 AM
but you're right: this was a very smart move. It's high-risk, high-reward - like all of Bron's previous moves.

If he can win a ring w/ this team? The reward will be immense. Waaay higher reward than if he just joined a microwavable championship contender like Houston or GSW.

-->
2666224, Read half of it..... nobody cares

The Lakers are the greatest franchise in professional sports, and we got LeBron James. Laker haters are so pressed right now, scrambling around trying to find some bullshit angle, lol.

2666230, The multitude of Laker fans I know (and on here) hate to admit this
Posted by Vex_id, Mon Jul-02-18 10:14 AM
but it's an undeniable fact: LeBron James is now the greatest basketball player to ever wear the purp & gold regalia.

I love it.

Not to worry tho - they'll jump on the Kang bandwagon soon enough.

It's actually a great late-career matching for him IMO. He wants organizational competence and a locale that attracts stars. Kawhi is coming - and with this team, that's all he needs to win a title.

2666353, LMAO. Wilt, Shaq, ,Cap, Pau, half our history of great players is due to "outsiders"
Posted by Cold Truth, Mon Jul-02-18 12:31 PM
Wilt and Cap were already towering figures before they were Lakers.

This isn't new.

I'm glad to have an all time don the purple and gold.

I hate to further burst this lol bubble but uh..... as far as his tenure with the Lakers goes?

ALL that matters to us is what he does when he's here.

Greatest Laker is about being the Greatest LAKER. His greatness prior to this is immaterial to what he does while he's here.

If he wins, there's no way to spin this as a negative. A Laker is a Laker.

Because if he wins titles here, those banners won't get raised on Cleveland or Miami. They'll be raised here.

You have Lakers fans confused with fans of players. Brawn has his fans, and many of them will migrate here with him. Good for him.

But his status as an a time great doesn't automatically make him the greatest Laker.
2666366, Yup! Said the same thing last night to my cousin who's been...

2666361, AND, not the greatest Laker
Posted by bentagain, Mon Jul-02-18 12:39 PM
We are adult enough to see the difference...yes?

Names you typed will be remembered as Lakers

Bron's a Cav, that's the difference.
2666365, what's going to be entertaining
Posted by Warren Coolidge, Mon Jul-02-18 12:42 PM
is watching those outside of Laker Nation hustle to either try and jump on a bandwagon they don't have the credentials to be on...

or the outsiders trying to apply cornball agendas to the Lakers..

one of my guilty pleasures is pointing and laughing at people ..in this case, sports communicators and/or fans...who don't live in California...and are honestly asleep when the Dodgers or Lakers are playing.... comment on those teams when its so obvious they've not been watching them play... It's a fun game to play really.... you wait for them to give themselves away as being full of shit when they say something like.... oh...now the Dodgers are playing better because Justin Turner has returned from injury. But they make no mention of Max Muncey, Joc Pederson.....probably wouldn't know who Muncey is... because they don't watch the Dodgers play at 10PM EST....

you had people on speaking on the Lakers last season, wouldn't mention Kyle Kuzma, because they were speaking on the Lakers without seeing them play games.... You start comparing Kyle Kuzma to a Ben Simmons, and east coasters think you're pulling names out of thin air...because they hadn't seen Kyle Kuzma play....then when they youtube some highligts, they try to act like the know..

We see through you...

Bron coming to the Lakers has the added attraction some real agenda bashing...Pacific Time Zone style...

this is gonna be fun

oh...and btw..... the GOATs don't need to change teams to validate their seat at the table.... if you have to go to a team of glory and history as a validation, You can certainly be good enough to sit at their table...but you'll never be above them....

You needed them.... they didn't need you. Their rafters shine brighter than any in sport (championships and quality of retired numbers?? stop it)

in that situation you can never be THE King at the table.....

you can be A king at THE table....

and the Los Angeles Laker table???

the greats who sit their table surpass the greats who sit at the table of any professional sports team in the history of planet earth....

and Lebron James chose to sit at this table...

but he will never be the King of that table...

so don't waste your time with arguments that will honestly make you look dumb as shit trying to reinvent a wheel that you haven't been rolling with...

2666567, lakers no strangers to bandwagoning, funnier to me the LeBron turn
Posted by ConcreteCharlie, Mon Jul-02-18 05:22 PM
