Kellen Winslow Jr.
Arrested for Kidnapping and Rape
... Faces Life In Prison

4:10 PM PT -- Officials say Winslow is being charged with 9 criminal charges including kidnapping with intent to commit rape, forcible rape, forcible sodomy, burglary, indecent exposure and more.

Here are the charges in total:
-- 2 counts of kidnapping with intent to commit rape
-- 2 counts of forcible rape
-- 1 count of forcible sodomy
-- 1 count of forcible oral copulation
-- 2 counts of residential burglary
-- 1 count of indecent exposure.

If convicted on all charges, he faces LIFE in prison.
Officials tell TMZ Sports ... Winslow was arrested by the Sheriff's Major Crimes Division at 1:05 PM on Thursday.
He's being booked into custody at the Vista Detention Facility -- a county jail in San Diego.
Officials say a search warrant has been executed for Kellen's home.

Ex-NFL star Kellen Winslow Jr. was arrested in San Diego -- again ... this according to the San Diego County District Attorney.
Details surrounding the arrest are unclear but law enforcement sources tell us Winslow is facing multiple criminal charges.
We don't know if this has anything to do with his arrest last week when he was accused of breaking into a home in a mobile home park in the San Diego area. For that incident, he was arrested for felony burglary.

But moments ago, the San Diego D.A. told TMZ Sports ... "A warrant was issued this morning for Kellen Winslow II’s arrest and he was taken into custody by San Diego Sheriff’s Deputies Thursday afternoon."

"Arraignment is anticipated Friday, June 15 ... Charges will be announced at that time."
We've reached out to Kellen's camp for comment -- so far, no word back.

34-year-old Winslow played in the NFL from 2004 to 2013 -- and made the Pro Bowl in 2007 as a tight end for the Cleveland Browns.

2663220, I wonder how long it'll take for someone to claim this is all due to CTE

2663224, he was better off beating his meat in parking lots.

2663227, He was also arrested last week in on suspicion of B&E at a trailer park
Posted by calij81, Thu Jun-14-18 10:24 PM
He told a woman he was looking for his red dog named Clifford.

He then said he was joking and looking at potentially buying a home in the trailer park for a friend.

2733070, feels like he won't be 'better' in 14 years. dude's brain is broken

he's just wired wrong at this point.
2733080, so should he get life? death penalty?

2733085, Escalated that pretty quickly, eh?
Posted by Buck, Wed Mar-03-21 05:02 PM
But a question: what's your expectation of what will happen to him after 14 years, or however long he actually serves, inside?
2733081, so should he get life? death penalty?

2733088, not sure what the penalty should be tbh. I just don't think jail fixes him
Posted by GOMEZ, Wed Mar-03-21 06:49 PM
dude is a serial rapist who targeted particularly vulnerable women, and his wiring seems off. Hopefully he takes his 14 years, gets some help, and comes out a better person who doesn't rape women.

2733091, that's a different conversation about a very serious issue, I just...

wasn't sure why you chose to single out Kellen.

Some people have gotten more for similar crimes, some people have gotten a lot less.
2733092, cuz this is a post about Kellen Winslow Jr? And his brain is extra broken?

>wasn't sure why you chose to single out Kellen.

I was looking at the sentence he got, specific to his crimes, and how particularly that was gonna stop him from being a predator in 14 years. He's crimes show he's weirdly predatory, but also lacks any amount of self control... I'm just curious how he makes it back to society successfully after 14 years.

Kellen Winslow Jr didn’t fall far from the tree

It seems like you’re feigning more concern for his mild prison sentence than the numerous women he raped

shrug
>
2733184, Well, he was conditioned to be that way.
Posted by allStah, Sat Mar-06-21 02:30 PM
It’s abuse begetting abuse.

It’s not about having sympathy or empathy. It’s about understanding
that there are different states of mental illness, and some are brought
on by way of nature or nurture.

Plus couple that with the fact that he was a football player, which can cause
damage to the brain, intensifying his mental condition.

This isn’t something that just happened. He has been this way since he was an
adolescent, and became worse as he aged.

We are seeing a pattern here with mainly football players raping, killing and abusing
women. We see it with other athletes, but not on the same level as football players.

2733185, many football players have CTE and have grown up in difficult circumstances
Posted by guru0509, Sat Mar-06-21 02:34 PM
They didn’t become serial rapists.

2733188, Exactly.
Posted by allStah, Sat Mar-06-21 03:23 PM
Every person doesn’t fit in that group.

Example, Darren Sharper. He was date raping women out of power.
He didn’t have a mental illness, nor was he abused. Plus he was able
to go out with these women, so he would have eventually slept with them.
He just wanted to rape women because he could.

That’s a person who belongs in prison for life.

Kellen Winslow has a mental disorder. Teammates said all
he did was play video games and watch porn, and he developed
a fetish which tied into his already unstable mind state. He went after
senior women as old as 86 years old! Sounds like mother issues
to me.

2733189, Winslow Jr went after women of all ages . Not just elderly
Posted by guru0509, Sat Mar-06-21 03:33 PM
Winslow Sr beat and abused his wife (Winslow’s mother )before divorcing her

Winslow Sr was removed from court numerous times for threatening prosecutors and random outbursts.

Would you blame that on his CTE? Or just him being an asshole ?

Darren Sharper also has a mental disorder . They’re both psychos and should be kept away from society for the remainder of their years , either in a prison or a psych ward .

have you examined his brain? are you qualified to say either way?

2733194, I’m not a mental health expert . Maybe all stah ?is that’s why I asked him
Posted by guru0509, Sat Mar-06-21 03:55 PM
I’m of the belief that Kellen Winslow Jr and Darren Sharper knew what they were doing is wrong , and that they would be shielded from punishment because they’re ex NFL stars and people would be afraid to come forward.

I’m just wondering where personal responsibility comes into play for you. Or if at all ?

2733198, There is a huge contrast between Winslow and Sharper.
Posted by allStah, Sat Mar-06-21 04:36 PM
So they don’t belong in the same boat. Sharper knew what he was
doing was wrong, and had no history of abuse or mental illness.
He made calculated efforts to render women unconscious so that
he could rape them.

Winslow wasn’t right since day one. This is the same guy who said on
national TV that he was a soldier and that he was invincible. This is the same
guy whose teammates begged coaches to not assign them the same hotel
room with, because he masturbated out in the open.

This guy had unchecked social issues since day one, and should have been under
the watchful eye of a mental doctor. He was clearly out there ,and his understanding
of right and wrong was/is obviously distorted.

And not only that, his family and friends played a role in cuddling his issues. For there
to be personal responsibility, there needs to be an awareness of what responsibility is,
and awareness that one has a problem. He had and has none of that. He showed not
one single emotion in court, and relatives and friends came everyday to support him.
He probably saw it as consensual.

If someone has been programmed to be a certain way for his entire life, there not
going to know or realize anything else. He is responsible because he did those crimes,
but he isn’t solely responsible because of what he was exposed to and how his mind
was conditioned.

2733193, He went after women between the ages 54-86
Posted by allStah, Sat Mar-06-21 03:45 PM
That was the range.

He clearly has a sickness and must be addressed.
2733195, That’s what he was found guilty of
Posted by guru0509, Sat Mar-06-21 03:56 PM

But younger woman stepped forward (I don’t think he was found guilty of that sexual assault though)

>That was the range.
>
>He clearly has a sickness and must be addressed.
2733213, It's okay to show compassion for people with mental illnesses
Posted by obsidianchrysalis, Sun Mar-07-21 01:08 AM
It does seem cruel to 'punish' someone who was out of control.

I think the criminal justice system is flawed and does a poor job realizing its intention of providing safe living conditions to prevent crime from happening and holding violators accountable when laws are broken. The current conditions within prisons and jails are inhumane. And the great lengths the system goes to essentially throw people away is alarming and embarrassing. Especially given many violators aren't given a real chance of succeeding in the first place.

But bad behavior isn't justified under any circumstance, mental health condition or not.

There can't be a secure society without social boundaries. Winslow violated one and he should have his liberties withheld to allow him to sit with what he did for a very long time.

Someone having a mental health condition does not excuse or justify bad behavior. It explains it, gives a context for it. Maybe gives people a way to prevent the conditions for the wrongdoing to happen in the future.

The real question is why should Winslow be given a pass when his victims weren't? The effects of sexual trauma and assault are all-encompassing. His victims may heal, but they will never be the same. The hell Winslow lived with was passed onto MULTIPLE women. That can't be excused or tolerated.
2733220, It’s not about giving someone a pass.
Posted by allStah, Sun Mar-07-21 11:16 AM
It’s about understanding what type of retribution is needed, and there
are situations where being sentenced to prison or jail is not the
correct form or retribution. And in Winslow’s case it isn’t.

He should be sentenced to a mental institution or mental facility, where
he can receive proper treatment to combat his mental illness.
He can serve his time under the care of a mental doctors. The focal point
of punishment is to rehabilitate a human being in order for them to exist in
society, where they are not a threat to others or to themselves.

For years, his abnormal/strange behavior went unchecked by his family,
friends and employers, and it ballooned into the perverted, abusive person
that he is now. Since he was an excellent football player and making money
for others, his illness was glossed over as weirdness or just being an odd
person. Also, it’s possible that the violent nature of the sport contributed to
his behavior, as well as growing up in an abusive household.

Schizophrenia, bipolar, ptsd, personality disorders, etc, are all forms of a mental
imbalance, that leads to abnormal, and often violent behavior. That is a medical
condition that needs to be treated, and simply throwing someone in jail does not
treat the condition, which is why individuals with mental conditions who are
released from prison are often repeat offenders.

2733327, We agree on a key point
Posted by obsidianchrysalis, Mon Mar-08-21 11:31 PM
I see now that you're just suggesting that he get treated. And on that we agree.
