Danny would not trade Tatum for Giannis

or Embiid

or Zingis

or 1 point guy

because he better than all of them....combined.

Posted by Dr Claw, Fri May-25-18 04:31 AM
It's gotta be him.

He's better than all the East PGs for sure.
And everyone else is more or less building their resume.

If anything this shows the talent gulf from LeBron to the next best.

As time passes I am seeing just how much of an outlier LeBron is.
The Cavs couldn't tank with early LeBron.
They went to barely missing the playoffs in Season 2, to back-to-back 50 win seasons, to NBA Finals in Season 4. That's absurd, especially when you consider Benedict Boozer running off to ruin his career on hamster-wheel teams and putting on Lego hair pieces.

Cavs couldn't hit on any Fagents either.

So I can't hold Kyrie to that standard. Only LeBron can do it like that.

On the matter of being an elite NBA talent? It's easy to see where he is in THE EAST.
2658551, "Benedict Boozer" lmao
Posted by Vex_id, Fri May-25-18 09:49 AM
Both you and Ba know that I think very highly of Kyrie. I still hold true to my post from years ago where I said Ky is Bron's greatest teammate < still true.

But - having seeing the level of vitriol you had for Bron when he left (in free agency) versus the level of admiration you have for Kyrie (who forced hands in a contract year) is perplexing to me, that's all.

-->
2658936, the LeBron Fagency move was a slow burn of anger
Posted by Dr Claw, Sun May-27-18 04:54 PM
only thing that would have made it worse is if LeBron actually went to a NYC team with his friends instead of Miami. because the level of trolling from over there was out of control.

everything from his last game with the Cavs the first time out to the Decision was just annoying.

also, even though LeBron had his GOAT season over there, he also picked up some pretty annoying habits on the court (egregious flopping, the bullshit Wade would do to troll, etc) so it was easy to hate on him.

if LeBron leaves again, there's no way that it's regarded like that, because I have all the faith he's going to make all the PR moves to make sure he doesn't leave on a bad note. the ring helps, too.

with Kyrie, it's about this:

2014, when he had the chance to GTFO (and all the reason to) he stayed. And tweeted immediately after his decision to let the fans know.

that meant a lot after those 3 seasons of assjuice and tanking and dumb picks. he could have easily been like, "going to Miami".

he was rewarded with LeBron coming back.
and then one year later, he was rewarded with a title.

After last year's implosion, the offseason couldn't have been any worse, but since it wasn't a Fagency move, but an out-and-out trade for BULLSHIT, Kyrie is gonna get the benefit of the doubt. The FO had no reason to trade with Danny fuckin' Ainge. and that's where my anger resides.

even if #8 pick ends up being a game-changing GOAT

it will be moot if LeBron ain't there to GOAT along with him and even more so if the team is wack

Fair. But how is that worse than Kyrie going to Cleveland's arch-rival? Cleveland will have to deal w/ Boston (and Kyrie) for years to come. LeBron didn't go to a rival - he went to a Miami team that had no causal link to Cleveland other than being in the East.

>everything from his last game with the Cavs the first time out

The Decision was a horrible PR move. But when your worst move as a professional is staging a show to announce your FA decision (that incidentally raised millions for a great cause) - there's not a lot to criticize.

>if LeBron leaves again, there's no way that it's regarded like
>that, because I have all the faith he's going to make all the
>PR moves to make sure he doesn't leave on a bad note. the ring

He delivered the Promise and the Ring of all Rings - in such a dramatic and high-stakes fashion that you couldn't write a better movie script. He should be idolized for eternity in Cleveland. There better no burning of jerseys this time -- only statues.

>with Kyrie, it's about this:

True - but shouldn't the same respect be forwarded to LeBron? He was born into a trash team and could've demanded a trade at some point in his first 7 seasons. But he didn't. He does what he always does: honor his commitments and ball his life out. He gives everything to his teams.

>After last year's implosion, the offseason couldn't have been

>out-and-out trade for BULLSHIT, Kyrie is gonna get the benefit

The FO office should be shouldering the blame. After Griffin left - the team has been a disaster. Now people see why LeBron signed 1-year deals his first 2 years back. Because right as he signed a 2-year deal (ending this year) - he lost his LeGM authority, Griffin was ousted (without LeBron's consent) - and Griffin didn't invest any further competently acquire more assets to give them a better chance against GS - and LeBron couldn't do anything about it because he couldn't leverage leaving at the end of the year (due to the 2-year deal) - which brings me to my point: LeBron honors his commitments with the deals he makes. Kyrie didn't. He should've played out another 1-2 years.

At the end of the day - the notion that any Cleveland fan would posit Kyrie in a more favorable light than LeBron is something that's incomprehensible.

Bron and Ky paired together for the most historic title, ever. But 20+ and best defender at his position is what I see

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1ZGllntAa-o

2696401, That's a weird comparison.
Posted by Frank Longo, Thu May-16-19 10:48 AM
Wiggins: 35.1 MPG, 20.7 PPG, 3.6 RPG, 2 APG, 1 SPG, .6 BPG, 2.2 TOPG
Tatum: 31.1 MPG, 15.7 PPG, 6 RPG, 2.1 APG, 1.1 SPG, .7 BPG, 1.5 TOPG

So Wiggins has a notably higher usage rate and plays four more minutes per game than Tatum... but Tatum tops him in every per-game stat, except PPG. And that shouldn't be a surprise, since you should score 5 more points per game if you're taking 3 more field goals and 4 more free throws per game.

Tatum has notably better:

3P%
eFG%
FT%
DRB%
TRB%
DRtg
BLK%
WS
WS/48
BPM
VORP

Tatum needed to improve this year and didn't, don't get me wrong. His failure to maintain his surge at the end of last season, and his tendency to disappear in certain games, was a big reason the Celtics failed to meet expectations.

But he's better than Wiggins at that point in his career, and if you asked Minnesota to trade Wiggins for Tatum straight up today, they'd close the deal in record time and pop champagne. Wiggins has never have a positive box plus-minus or a positive VORP *at any point in his career.* Which is crazy to think about.

Tatum can ball. This is on Ainge. No rim protector and Hayward
walking for nothing is the reason for the C’s collapse.
2735225, Ainge has let Hayward, Rozier, Kyrie all walk for nothing

The bench is terrible. Ainge has screwed up things a bit.
2736825, ELI5, why do the Cs suck?

JT the SF GOAT in the making...and the Cs are struggling to stay ahead of CHA

Looking like a lock for the play-in

Easily the most disappointing team in the league this year

Somethings wrong with this team...and the finger usually gets pointed at the HC and best player

What am I missing here?

FTC
2736829, hasn't his "Robin" missed a ton of games?

2736849, Ton...no

I'm of the opinion that injuries have hit errybody...with the bubble, no offseason, etc...

and then looking at the teams in front of them
6ers have had more injury issues
BKN
MIA

All I know is...Bron was giving the league the bidness year 2

This is year 4 = not the next Lebron

His bbref player comparison has names like Nique, Worthy, The Kangaroo Kid...so the next ZOMG great of the league

No

A really good player...sure...it's just weird that there is absolutely no criticism of him directly...when the Cs are spiraling

Weird...IMO

Now that Bron is in the West

Do we really need to make a list of players in the East better than Tatum?

I think you get the point
2737411, Jason Tatum put this bullshit team on his back

Apologize!

Boston in them offs!
2737420, that is a fun ? though...WOULD Danny trade Tatum for Giannis today?

2737422, Milwaukee GM would have to be brain dead to do that trade

2737434, I'm one of the biggest Tatum fans in the world...

... but Danny would say yes to that trade before Milwaukee's GM finished the question.

Tatum has obvious MVP potential going forward... but Giannis has two MVPs already, is a top three defender in the NBA, and only turned 26 this season. Milwaukee is going to do everything in their power over the next decade to make Giannis a Buck for life because he's the most accomplished player in that uniform since Kareem.

So yeah, if Milwaukee's GM smoked crystal meth and made that offer, Danny would sign the papers before the phone call ended.
2737435, obviously
