2645480, Multiple teams requesting Lamar Jackson do WR tests at the combine
Posted by BrooklynWHAT, Fri Mar-02-18 12:29 PM
this league is flat out asinine that even ONE team would try this.

http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap3000000918639/article/multiple-teams-request-lamar-jackson-to-work-out-as-wr?campaign=Twitter_atn

Could Lamar Jackson pull double duty this weekend in Indianapolis?

Multiple NFL teams have requested for the dual-threat Lousiville quarterback to work out as a wide receiver, in addition to working out as a QB, Good Morning Football's Peter Schrager reported Friday, per a source informed of the situation.
Jackson hasn't announced yet if he will work out as a wideout.

In three years at Louisville, Jackson caught a grand total of zero passes for zero yards. He was, however, one of the nation's greatest ground threats, racking up 4,132 rushing yards and 50 rushing scores in 38 games.

Citing Jackson's size, athleticism and questionable accuracy, some analysts, most notably former Bills and Colts GM Bill Polian, have suggested that Jackson should change positions at the next level. That view point is not necessarily shared by all of the coaches and GMs making personnel decisions.

Chiefs coach Andy Reid and Ravens GM Ozzie Newsome, for instance, have no interest in seeing Jackson work out at any other position.

"Yeah, I'm not much on that," Reid said Wednesday. "I want to bring him in. Let's exhaust that other thing that we know he's good at and see. I'm just saying in general. This is a general statement: Let's get him in and let him wing it a little bit and see how he does. We'll be able to fit some things in there I'm sure."

Newsome said Friday, "On our board, he's a quarterback."

Jackson is scheduled to speak at the NFL Scouting Combine at 4:30 p.m. ET on Friday. He is also slated to work out with the QBs on Saturday.
2645487, sick of this narrative
Posted by adg87, Fri Mar-02-18 01:01 PM
He deserves every chance to at least prove that he can be successful at the position he wants to play. Happenings like this only bolster the point that sometimes teams can use frakish athleticism against an individual. The dude is the same size as Andy Dalton for God's sake.
2645491, Why draft a dynamic QB when you can have Antwaan Randle El?
Posted by Marauder21, Fri Mar-02-18 01:15 PM
Seriously, that's like the peak for a college QB turned WR. Why would you want that when the upside for Jackson is so much higher as a QB?
2645621, Correct.
Posted by B.J.S.301, Sat Mar-03-18 05:18 PM
2645765, Randle El the peak? Hines Ward and Julian Edelman beg to differ
Posted by Jon, Mon Mar-05-18 11:17 AM
2645767, Shit, I forgot Hines was a QB
Posted by Marauder21, Mon Mar-05-18 11:26 AM
But it took Edelman awhile before he was really balling out.
2679994, I was hoping for a Hines Ward like career for Braxton Miller but alas...

Every one of his "flaws", each of the "can't miss" prospects are worse at.

2645615, Lamar said no team asked him to do that...
Posted by Dstl1, Sat Mar-03-18 04:19 PM
spoke it into microphones (c)Jalen Rose. Anyhoo...he said "no sir", when asked if he would. Good for him.
2645623, maybe just one team. maybe a lot.

The only issue is deep ball accuracy. He stands tall in the pocket and is an assassin on throws up to 20 yards. His footwork is a pet peeve on mine but that is fixable with a QB coach. He's a more evasive Russell Wilson with less accuracy. When the rush comes his eyes go downfield looking to throw.

Can someone explain the Josh Rosen hype because I don't get it. Yes, he can make all the throughs but he's far too reliant on his tight end. It's kinda easy to beat Josh if you can pressure him and forcing him to hold the ball too long. He doesn't move around in the pocket which hurts him compared to the other guys. His arm isn't nearly as consistent as I thought it was on deep balls. That Texas A&M game is mostly crossing routes and easy reads.

2645741, Rosen makes more sense than Josh Allen
Posted by DeepAztheRoot, Mon Mar-05-18 02:57 AM
he has bust written all over him, saw a good dude compare him to Jake Locker, that's spot on

Smokin' Jay Cutler unretired and just got the Dolphins job.

also as mentioned above, dude who got put in the Bills game only to throw five picks

that the Browns are looking for Andy Dalton's backup.

that Kirk Cousins about to get paid a reDONKulous amount of money (he going to the Donkeys, y'all)

that the Giants only had a black QB starting for the first time in 2018 after how many years of existence. they were the last holdout on some Buttskins shit

(ironic that the long-standing lone Super Bowl winning Black QB was on the team with the racist name that refused to play Black players at all the longest)

it's like, as black as that league is, there seems to be a certain "protection" of certain positions.

this is actually a core reason why I can't stand Tom "Lance Armstrong" Boody -- he represents the pinnacle of that level of protection.

2683222, since I made this post

>Smokin' Jay Cutler unretired and just got the Dolphins job.

Tannehill got it back, LOL

>also as mentioned above, dude who got put in the Bills game
>only to throw five picks

only to be CUT by the Bills but SIGNED by another team in need of a QB

>that the Browns are looking for Andy Dalton's backup.

Thank the Matrix they took Tyrod and drafted Baker. McCarron I believe went to the Bills

>that Kirk Cousins about to get paid a reDONKulous amount of
>money (he going to the Donkeys, y'all)

he did, but the VIKINGS paid it.
result: Eagles get into playoffs due to his fuckups

>that the Giants only had a black QB starting for the first
>time in 2018 after how many years of existence. they were the
>last holdout on some Buttskins shit

lol Giants lol, sticking with Pee-li

>this is actually a core reason why I can't stand Tom "Lance
>Armstrong" Boody -- he represents the pinnacle of that level
>of protection.

this is still true. Boody is the Babe Ruth of football
2649081, Oh, so he's "RISING UP THE DRAFT BOARDS!?!" LOL. Translation:

LMAO @ "rising up the boards." NOTHING CHANGED.

LMAO

As a Ravens fans, I'll take the victories but he ain't ready to be the full-time starter just yet. One to two more seasons of grooming needed.
2679993, He's raw but Flacco is terrible
Posted by The Real, Mon Nov-26-18 03:42 PM
Unless you think starting is going to ruin him, you go with him over Flacco.

2680003, "Terrible?" Not at all...

You won't ever hear me scream that he was or is the greatest. He's not "terrible" though. Considering what we had before him, I'm not one to look a gift horse in the mouth. And considering that I am here watching the roster moves and have been since '96, I'm still not one to look a gift horse in the mouth.

With lesser weapons, he's been more of a winner than Matt Ryan, Matt Stafford, Phillip Rivers, and all those other qbs that are making more than he is but haven't won as much as he has.

And before we get crazy with the "Ravens had a great defense all those years" kinda talk, check the rankings and numbers again.

2680041, RE: "Terrible?" Not at all...
Posted by COOLEHMAGAZINE, Tue Nov-27-18 09:34 AM
He is clearly not ready, which is fine.

The idea that you just throw a guy out there to prove some sort of point, instead of developing him as a player and putting him in the best position to succeed I just don't understand.

He is not a better quarterback than Joe Flacco today, not even close.

He is skilled and athletic enough to be a better player than Flacco ever was.

He could also be out the league in three years if he ends up in a bad situation.

I still wish Mitch Trubisky had been able to sit and learn for a full year. Here he is in his second year and all he did the first year was compound bad habits. Meanwhile, Mahomes is setting fire to the league.
2681690, It's what they want...
Posted by Creole, Wed Dec-12-18 04:40 PM
He's the captain now.

LOL

https://www.pro-football-reference.com/players/J/JackLa00.htm
2681691, Fo you really think Mahomes benefitted that much from sitting?
Posted by legsdiamond, Wed Dec-12-18 04:47 PM
dude watched Alex Smith play bland football for a year and Mahomes is out here throwing left handed and no look passes and shit.

Mahomes is balling because he has Andy Reid and a ton of weapons on offense.

He coulda played day 1 and I wanted no parts of him before the draft because I thought he was another Texas Tech system QB.

Here’s a text I sent to a few of my buddies last night:

Dang, Joe! I miss you. Sorry you had to leave us but Lamar is that dude. For real! Well, enjoy the rest of your career. We’ll be just fine here in Baltimore. Thanks for the memories!

Signed,
Joe Flacceaux Fan who now believes in Lamar Jackson

That was my way of recognizing that I was completely wrong about this young man. I’m a proud Ravens fan who wasn’t immediately in the LJ wagon. Now, I’m stunned by his progress and can’t wait to see how he continues to progress/evolve. I’m not going into every post here that I’ve stated my opinions. This one mea culpa is my response to all of those.

That’s a bad man!
