If the team had no QB and they signed Smith as a FA for $15M/year or something, to be a placeholder vet. That plan would be fine.

*trading* for Smith, giving him maybe $70M guaranteed at the age of 33, and doing it while you have a perfectly solid QB already on your team (which you managed to somehow fuck up keeping), is a joke.

There are maybe three other teams in the league who would have fucked this all up like Bruce Allen did and not sign Cousins two years ago for a ~5 year deal at market rate.

Bruce and Dan tried to be slick with a lowball offer of $12.5M/year two years ago and it's blown up in their faces.

One of the only decent QBs the franchise has had in like 30 years (seriously), and he's walking out the door for nothing.
