2638182, NBA Trade Rumors
Posted by auragin_boi, Wed Jan-17-18 01:00 PM
The deadline is 2/8 (moved up due to the early start of the year) so players will be in new locations before the allstar break and we have 3 weeks before the deadline.

What are you hearing?

-Jordan on the move?
-Niko to the Jazz?
-Orlando cleaning house?
etc.
2638185, Cavs almost for sure make a move.
Posted by Ryan M, Wed Jan-17-18 01:19 PM
The question is whether or not they can dump a toxic contract with the Brooklyn pick for an asset.

I think the Lakers move Randle for a non lottery 1st rounder.
2638193, I think we'd move clarkson before Randle
Posted by DJ Wade-O, Wed Jan-17-18 02:12 PM
Simply because we need salary off the books in order to sign to max free agents this summer. Randle would be coming off no matter what. Clarkson still has a year or two left after this one.

2638227, Why would anyone make that trade for Randle?
Posted by LA2Philly, Wed Jan-17-18 05:07 PM
He’s not the piece that’s going to get any contender over the hump and any team that actually has interesting in signing him will simply wait until the FA period.

You don’t give up a 1st just to have his RFA rights.
2638254, Because I want it, dammit.
Posted by Ryan M, Wed Jan-17-18 06:56 PM
You make a good point.

I dunno.

I just hope this front office has a better plan than "Sign 2 of PG13, Boogie, and Lebron".
2638346, I don't think that'll happen.
Posted by wallysmith, Thu Jan-18-18 11:31 AM
There's a shit ton of hoops that need to happen to sign two big FA's. More likely is one big name, somehow cost control Randle, then go after Klay after next season.
2638384, The only hoop is dealing Clarkson
Posted by LA2Philly, Thu Jan-18-18 01:11 PM
Rescinding Randle’s cap hold and stretching Deng’s contract are levers we control. Even with Clarkson, he’s on a cap friendly deal (11 per, has 2 years left) that is good value for his production so that won’t be much of an issue either.
2638441, Maybe I worded that wrong, hah
Posted by wallysmith, Thu Jan-18-18 05:43 PM
I was referring more to convincing two big FA's to come here.
2638420, I don't either
Posted by Ryan M, Thu Jan-18-18 02:59 PM
Which is why I think it's dumb that seems to be the only plan.

I hope I'm wrong and that they have more sense than this.
2638263, RBO In 5,4,3,2...
Posted by ShawndmeSlanted, Wed Jan-17-18 07:46 PM
2638449, it'll be a dumb trade. ain't no way they pull off another 2KnicksUnited trade
Posted by Dr Claw, Thu Jan-18-18 06:32 PM
2639382, I don't think anybody wants Randle as much as Laker fans think
Posted by bignick, Tue Jan-23-18 11:13 AM
Clarkson seems way more valuable to me.
2642559, maybe
Posted by mista k5, Thu Feb-08-18 01:55 PM
2638187, Trade Monroe please!!1
Posted by ShawndmeSlanted, Wed Jan-17-18 01:22 PM
or at least Tyson Chandler
2638195, belief on the Thunder boards is Presti got an eye on Belineli...
Posted by Dstl1, Wed Jan-17-18 02:14 PM
I definitely think he gonna make a move.
2638197, Belineli...? He moving needles? lol
Posted by auragin_boi, Wed Jan-17-18 02:29 PM
I'd think they'd be trying to shore up their bench with a few players and upgrade at the 2 or 4 (as melo can play 3 or 4 and George can play 2 or 3). Niko would actually be perfect for them but Fornier could work too.
2638200, Low-ish salary, expiring contract, can hit the three and put it on deck
Posted by Dstl1, Wed Jan-17-18 02:41 PM
.
2638203, Belly is indeed a gamer...he'll help but not enough
Posted by auragin_boi, Wed Jan-17-18 02:43 PM
to beat anyone above OKC in the standings.
2638205, Ion't know man...
Posted by Dstl1, Wed Jan-17-18 02:50 PM
you know I watch ALL the games...sometimes we just be needin a motherfucker to hit a shot that he should. Pat Patterson hasn't been that dude, so far. Aubrines is some-timey. I know he aint a superstar, but he's a professional player.
2638217, yeah belinelli's a solid pickup.
Posted by dula dibiasi, Wed Jan-17-18 04:03 PM
solid pro, high 30s from 3, little bit of P&R playmaking, and he's ballsy. he'd definitely help okc.
2650737, :-)
Posted by dula dibiasi, Sun Apr-15-18 11:57 AM
2650738, lol, yup...I'm pretty happy with Brewer...
Posted by Dstl1, Sun Apr-15-18 12:00 PM
especially since Abrines came around, a bit...but I was all in for Belinelli.
2650742, he and ersan were massive additions. along w redick last summer.
Posted by dula dibiasi, Sun Apr-15-18 12:18 PM
philly got shooters.
2638228, RE: Belineli...? He moving needles? lol <<
Posted by ThaTruth, Wed Jan-17-18 05:10 PM
2638232, lol...didn't realize all deadline signings had to be franchise players, only
Posted by Dstl1, Wed Jan-17-18 05:17 PM
.
2638244, right but like AB said nobody in the west is going to be like...
Posted by ThaTruth, Wed Jan-17-18 06:04 PM
"ooh shit, the Thunder got Belinelli!" lol, dude probably peaked like 5 years ago on that last Spurs title team, even then he couldn't beat out Ginobili for playoff minutes despite being 10 years younger
2638196, There was talk that the Bucks wanted one of the Warrior's big.
Posted by mrhood75, Wed Jan-17-18 02:27 PM
If it happens, it's most likely to be Javale. He's fallen pretty far out of the rotation, and only sees the court against teams like the Clippers, Pelicans, Jazz, etc. Javale could probably given the Bucks some scoring off the bench.
2638201, Yeah, I've heard the bucks want Jordan or Mcgee as consolation
Posted by auragin_boi, Wed Jan-17-18 02:41 PM
Wonder what the W's would want as compensation.
2638229, consolation for?
Posted by ThaTruth, Wed Jan-17-18 05:11 PM
2638235, If they don't get Jordan
Posted by auragin_boi, Wed Jan-17-18 05:34 PM
my assumption is, he's target A. McGee is only target B if target A is unattainable.

2638199, jerian grant being shopped.
Posted by dula dibiasi, Wed Jan-17-18 02:39 PM
he's actually turned into a pretty solid backup point. top 15 in assist percentage and per possession assists:

http://bkref.com/tiny/EV6tB
http://bkref.com/tiny/YdpeS

bulls brass apparently trusts lavine to handle some backup PG minutes and also want to get a look at cam payne, whose contract is already guaranteed for next season.
2638202, Makes sense...plus Holiday can play spot PG too
Posted by auragin_boi, Wed Jan-17-18 02:42 PM
Not sure what he brings back though. A 2nd? Small expiring contract? Cash?
2638512, Hornets make Kemba available...

2638521, Most good teams have a decent PG
Posted by ShawndmeSlanted, Fri Jan-19-18 11:03 AM
Would the Knicks bring him home for Frank?

Could Philly use him?

Maybe a good Spur with the decline of TP? Would they have to give someone like Dejounte?

Just dont see a lot of great fits
2638585, Frank for Kemba is win-win IMO.
Posted by Ryan M, Fri Jan-19-18 01:37 PM
2638599, Would Jordan be that idiotic?
Posted by Numba_33, Fri Jan-19-18 02:10 PM
I am a top notch hater of Michael Jordan, but if he went and pulled the trigger for that trade straight up like you suggested, I'd have to start rocking Jordans and salute him in all his whiskey colored occular senses.
2638610, I don't think it's possible straight up.
Posted by Ryan M, Fri Jan-19-18 02:55 PM
It'd have to have some filler.

Frank, Lance Thomas, and a 1st would do it.
2638630, A future pick would be asking too much
Posted by Numba_33, Fri Jan-19-18 03:46 PM
since adding Kemba Walker isn't going to do too much in terms of making the Knicks championship contenders or anything of the sort. He's definitely be an upgrade, but I dunno if I'd want to mortgage a future pick for the Knicks simply out of frustration with Frank.

I'd agree with trading Frank, Lance, and Hernganomez (sp?) for Kemba, but I'm guessing Jordan isn't stupid enough to agree with that trade.
2638636, Kemba's under contract this year and next
Posted by Ryan M, Fri Jan-19-18 03:58 PM
So you're probably right about the future 1st but I do think he sets them up nicely for some success. Still, for Kemba they'll want a young player and a pick I'd think. His contract is super cap friendly for next year at only $12 million.
2638648, Just so I'm clear
Posted by Numba_33, Fri Jan-19-18 05:00 PM
I don't think you're off in terms of the Bobcats wanting a first round draft pick; I'm just staying from the perspective of a Knicks fan that I wouldn't want the Knicks to give up a first round draft pick. Kemba Walker would definitely be an upgrade as a point guard, but I don't know how long he'll stay on the team for that move to reap any substantial and lasting benefits, at least substantial enough to be willing to part with a first round draft pick.

Cleveland has been making some noise.....Hmmmmm.....
2638534, but, with IT already and Rose back...what would they do with...
Posted by Dstl1, Fri Jan-19-18 11:33 AM
Kemba?
2638553, RE: but, with IT already and Rose back...what would they do with...
Posted by murph71, Fri Jan-19-18 12:11 PM
>Kemba?

No one is counting on Rose at this point (as much as it breaks my heart to say)....

IT is needed more on the bench than the startling lineup. And Kemba adds more size in the PG position (no more panicking on defense) and gives a team more scoring 1 on 1 opportunities. There are also rumors going around the Cavs want more than Kemba in a trade with Charlotte....They would have to give up that Brooklyn pick for any such deal though...
2638595, kemba adds more size?

2638597, That's definitely their best chance to get a Top 3 pick.
Posted by Frank Longo, Fri Jan-19-18 02:09 PM
In a draft that's stacked on the top but not especially deep, it's not a bad play.

Posted by cgonz00cc, Mon Jan-29-18 12:30 PM
Bradley's expiring contract is worth more than all of OKCs expiring deals combined

and you dont have a 1st round draft pick

and you dont have the cap room to take on a bad contract

he would help the shit out of yall right today tho

2640443, goodness, he would...especially with Dre down...

Posted by cgonz00cc, Mon Jan-29-18 02:12 PM
im gonna be mad. i have to assume there is a reason PG is playing 36 mpg

if yall had the room to take on langston galloway even with cash considerations as well, id be happy with a 2nd.
2640444, watch Bron get him for a bag of dildos
Posted by ThaTruth, Mon Jan-29-18 12:39 PM

2640475, thats a nonstarter without the brooklyn pick
Posted by cgonz00cc, Mon Jan-29-18 02:07 PM
they also have no cap room to take on langston galloway and no young talent to trade

the $8M in expiring Avery money is worth more than Cleveland's pick in the 20s

the Pistons arent in the business of furthering the agenda of divisional teams for free
2640476, I have a feeling you are going to be very disappointed.

you can only take like two people's opinions serious here.

whatever defensive shortcomings Monroe has should be covered by Boston's system. he's obviously well above average offensively so that'll help an offense that'll need all the points they can get.

Posted by thejerseytornado, Sun Feb-04-18 10:47 AM
with Rozier's performance recently, either he or Smart's gotta go before next season. Smart's the RFA, so it makes sense.

Would Memphis do this? I think Smart coes w/ bird rights so Memphis could easily re-sign him and he could be Tony Allen 2.0 for them.

You'd basically be trading a first for a 30-game rental-- and that assumes that he stays healthy for those 30 games. A first has better value long-term, unless (a) you're an immediate contender who thinks Evans will put you over the top (that'd give you 40ish games and perhaps an Evans more willing to re-sign) and (b) you believe in Evans's ability to stay on a court and contribute to a winning basketball team.

Posted by Vex_id, Thu Feb-08-18 12:55 PM
Will Clarkson and Nance Jr. be more productive than IT and Frye have been for Cleveland?

The answer is likely a resounding "yes." This move was built to help the Cavs get out of the East and play with house money in the Finals - and it gets them closer to that goal.

It also helps the Cavs in the future if/when Bron leaves. Clearly you'd rather have Clarkson and Nance Jr. than IT & Frye when it comes to building a new identity in Cleveland.

Win for Lakers as well - they weren't doing shit w/ Clarkson and Nance Jr. and have a plethora of young talent (particularly swing players in the backcourt)- rendering Clarkson expendable. They also clear big space to land someone like PG.'

Dan Gilbert sucks though. He traded Kyrie for Clarkson and Nance Jr.

PG is the only one that *really* matters this season. There's Deandre but.. no one would feel good about him. Lebron makes zero sense... perfect world we get rid of Deng and sign Lebron/PG? We still lose to the Warriors. Why accelerate our timeframe if our young core isn't ready to contend yet?

We had the space for PG with or without this trade. I think the trade signals that resigning Randle is now a priority.

As much as I love Rodney as a weapon, he's not a good defender. George Hill at this point is a net negative defender. Jordan Clarkson is a terrible defender. Only Larry Nance really moves the needle defensively, and he won't play nearly enough to make a difference.

Still impressive that they ditched so many scrubs for more offensive firepower... but yeah that defense is still gonna be super-bad.
2642500, Among everything else you just typed.
Posted by Numba_33, Thu Feb-08-18 01:17 PM
It's going to legitimately at least a week or two or three for all those players to mesh well together. If all the rumored trades actually go down, that is a ton of player movement for so relatively late in the season.
2642501, you underestimate how awful Isaiah was
Posted by bshelly, Thu Feb-08-18 01:18 PM
simply not playing him will make their defense a lot better.

shit, think about how much better their defense was with kyrie, and nobody's putting kyrie on any all defensive teams.
2642512, oh, trust me, I don't underestimate that at all, lol
Posted by Frank Longo, Thu Feb-08-18 01:24 PM
I was one of the first ones beating the "IT is a much worse defender than Kyrie" drum post-trade.

I'm just saying these guys won't help on that end. Dealing IT helps, but you do ultimately have to replace these bad outgoing defenders with good defenders. Replacing them with other bad defenders won't help the defense.
2642502, lol did they trade anybody away w/ value on the defensive end?
Posted by Vex_id, Thu Feb-08-18 01:19 PM
No. Crowder used to be a decent defender but is also broken.

Cavs improved significantly today.

-->
2642509, They improved offensively without question.
Posted by Frank Longo, Thu Feb-08-18 01:23 PM
I'm not questioning the fact that they turned shit into lemonade. Hood and Clarkson in particular are terrific offensive talents.

But they're both bad defenders. Notably really bad. And Hill hasn't been a good defender for a couple of years, really. He's 31.

I'm just not convinced these guys move the needle enough defensively for the defense to not suck.

I believe his contract is up, so, if he can't get back healthy they can just easily let him walk.

If he gets better and starts ballin, they have the space to sign him.

I.T. will be happier being back on the West Coast.

With Lonzo being the PG of the future, Isaiah doesn't have to worry about facilitating the offense and babying everyone like he did in Cleveland......he can just go out there and focus on putting up 30 points per game.

three way deal, Devin Harris to Denver, Dallas gets McBuckets.

Posted by Frank Longo, Thu Feb-08-18 02:12 PM
Denver likes their guards, they don't trust Mudiay, and they can clear his money off the books for Devin Harris, an expiring deal.

New York is looking for any young prospect that can help, and Mudiay is ultimately only 21 and has a ton of potential. They're happy to take a flier on him for the next two seasons-- and if he doesn't work out, they've obviously still got Frank.

IT goes to a team THAT ACTUALLY FUCKING PRACTICES. That shit blew my mind that the Cavs don't practice. Run plays and watch film like everyone else. Old man Bron is relies to much on waning athleticism for my taste.

They were the worst teammates in the world. They were no-playing motherfuckers. Love was the worst superstar player I ever seen. And I.T.? Don’t even talk about it.

I remember once we were in the gym with Ty Lue, and I.T. had taken three hours for a high-low switch he was trying to fix on a play. He couldn't get it. We said, "Bro, why don’t you get some Loser Pale Ale and lime, some apple pie, and take an hour-and-a-half and relax a little bit." So he did, and we called Cedi Osman, a tall white dude with good hips. Cedi came in for 15 minutes and tore it up. I.T. comes back and says, “Ty, can you run it back for me one more time?” So Ty did, and I.T. says, “That didn’t look so bad.” And I said, “Yeah, motherfucker because it ain’t you.”

Great guy, though.

Maybe Dallas in the mid/late '90s? When they hired Nelson and he traded most of the team in the space of 48 hours. Can't remember at what point of the season that happened.

Just take the ball and go home. Dont just trade just to trade. make whoever wants him, pay for it on the open market
2642683, right, they don't want fans to think they're completely tanking...
