Initially I didn't think HOF when I heard Gore's name until just heard them say on MNF that he is 7th on the all-time rushing list. By the end of the season he will be at least top 5.

depending on how Adrian Peterson's last few seasons go, it's going to be a *long* time before we see another running back in the 13k club. the nearest active player under 30 is DeMarco Murray -- and he's only halfway there.

yeah, he's closest. I'd say his jump-cut style won't age very well, so that'll be interesting.

At the time, between Najeh Davenport, McGahee, Portis and Gore, there's no way you coulda told me that Gore would have the best career in the league.

yards averaging 8+ ypc. Then the 2 ACL tears in back to back years happened and he never quite had the chance to showcase his full potential. I remember thinking that he would be a beast in the NFL if he could ever stay healthy. Amazingly he did.

I still think peak McGahee at Miami was better, but their both great backs.

that era was so ridiculous for Miami...it's one thing to have a bunch of NFL players, but they had Pro Bowlers backing up Pro Bowlers at the same damn positions

at its inception. He defined the role later perfected by LaDainian.

numbers aren't quite as flashy as other running backs but people forget that he spent the first 4-5 years of his career playing fullback

-for durability
-for overall career numbers
-for the things that he did better than most other rb's (blocking)
-for his locker room presence

if TO is not a HOF because he was a pain in the ass in the locker room, you then have to say that being a true locker room leader has to have some value...and there's no question that's what gore brought to the table.

not to mention, if you think of who votes (the writers)...gore was great to writers. everyone that covered him loved him. this is not a point that argues whether he should be in the hall but one that argues if he will be.

i lived through joe, jerry, ronnie, steve...gore is hands down my favorite 49er of all time. he never complained, he was a workhorse when we didn't have ANY weapons. he's arguably one of the best feel good stories over a career. he goes to the school that produces BEAST rb's, tears both ACLs, he becomes the least known of the RBs to come out of that school...but then proves everyone wrong over a 10+ year career. who goes from questions about his durability to basically building a HOF career based on his durability?

has to be in but without looking at those most people don't think of him in that light. He spent most of his prime on bad teams. Like someone said earlier at no point was he ever really considered the best RB in the NFL. Even his best season in 2006 when he ran for 1695 yards and 8 touchdowns was overshadowed by LaDanian Tomlinson's ridiculous 1815 yard, 28 touchdown MVP season. That's another thing despite Gore being 7th all-rushing he's not in the top 20 in rushing TD's, he only had double-digit rushing TD's(10) once in his career.

another all-everything back, he could do anything you needed in the passing game

and there was a period where he *was* the best back in the conference

he was a man's man and frankly given how fucked up his knees were he could have had no career at all. i liked watching him play a lot but i don't considering him to be the spectacular, dominant sort of player i would say are HOF'ers. he was more about longevity, steadiness and versatility.

It’s standards or process is not as strict or stern as baseball’s

More than likely, Frank Gore will get in because he will
be perceived as last of the Mohicans, and he is a very likable person.
He has the numbers as well, even though those numbers came by way
of longevity, as opposed to being a dominant running back in every
season.

In baseball, he would be seen as a good player, but not a great player.

then still a star when they got good. Harbaugh and Roman were smoking crack when they took the ball out of his hands against the smurfs in the NFC championship in 2012. They COULD NOT STOP HIM, he was hitting them for 5+ yards a carry. Some of the stupidest game calling I had ever seen. THAT was our Super Bowl year, even moreso than with the Ravens, because the Defense was better in 2011.

Running back on a shitty team is a tough position to put up great numbers on. You're THE weapon and you still get yours. On a better team, his numbers are even better.

His heart and spirit were next level, but numbers alone, I say yes.
