Probably the best thing The Players Tribune has ever put out.

2605626, But do I eat a Philly steak every now and then when I’m home?

I've never heard that dude described as "Scowling" though....

I've read a lot of things about Waiters....But scowling ain't one of them.....
2605629, Easily the best thing I've ever read from there
Posted by Premiere, Tue Apr-25-17 10:46 AM
Not sure what the Player's Tribune editing/writing process is like, but regardless, that was some fucking wonderful Internet writing. Well paced, funny, good structure. Man. I loved it.
2605630, it's a collab between the athlete and a writer
Posted by BrooklynWHAT, Tue Apr-25-17 10:49 AM
they tell the writer their feelings on whatever subject it is they're addressing, then the writer puts it in an actual article form.
2605717, they do a great job

wish he was still in OKC.
2605646, so did his 3 year old son til he started picking up ladies in MIA

Do you see Westbrook averaging a triple double with Waiters on that OKC roster?
2605822, I honestly wouldn't care...Dion has heart and he can play...
Posted by Dstl1, Wed Apr-26-17 09:25 AM
he plays like we need Oladipo to play.
2605995, Basically
Posted by RexLongfellow, Wed Apr-26-17 08:50 PM
Say what you want about Waiters (he got a LOT better this year in Miami), but he would've definitely been better than any wing that OKC had this playoffs outside of Westbrook

Russ would've needed more than just Dion, but I think the series goes 6-7 if you replace Oladipo with Dion

I refuse to read the article because that headline is perfect and I don't want to spoil it with context.
2605647, Interesting article.
Posted by Numba_33, Tue Apr-25-17 12:18 PM
I know this is going off on a tangent, but as he was talking about meeting Pat Riley for the first time, all I was thinking about how the the meeting(s) between Riley and Dwayne Wade went down during that off season when Wade eventually signed with Chicago.
2605651, What's the analytics on that? YES
Posted by bshelly, Tue Apr-25-17 12:31 PM
if i had a dream about how a dion waiters article would be, it would be this.
2605687, ^^^That should be said every time a game winner is hit

"What's the analytics on that?"

And in the press conference the coach should always say:

"Take that for data!"

Dwayne Wade's trash turned into Dion Waiters' (relative) treasure.

If the Heat had made the playoffs, I would feel more comfortable taking the word relative out of that prior sentence. Dude still flourished in his role for the team though, can't deny that at all.
2605772, Was a fan of Dion the player, now I'm a fan of Dion the man

2605857, Incidentally - Dion did more w/ this Heat team this year than Wade
Posted by Vex_id, Wed Apr-26-17 11:51 AM
did last year.

Wade bout to go 5-18 every night with 6 TOs to engine Chicago dropping 4 straight to Boston.

2605885, Wade balled in the playoffs last year in a way Waiters never will
Posted by ConcreteCharlie, Wed Apr-26-17 12:49 PM
nevermind his prime.

this attack on Wade is disgusting and unnecessary. do you hear jordan fans diminishing pippen's contributions or magic fans trying to take worthy? bird fans are not into bad-mouthing mchale, the chief and dj. you go down the line. bad look. insecure. maybe because the denouement of lebron's career was last season?

good for waiters though, i pull for the guy for obvious reasons
2605900, when Wade gets his fair share of criticism, this can cease
Posted by Vex_id, Wed Apr-26-17 01:16 PM
his performance was abysmal in the 2014 finals - and frankly - he was hovering around mediocrity for the better parts of the '13 & '14 season.

Wade is a hall-of-famer - but he got an inexplicable pass during the last 2 years of the "Big 3" era - while Lebron continued to absorb the disproportionate burden of criticism - despite his exceptional performances and productivity.

Can we agree that Wade was a shell of himself - even in 2013/2014 - and that he fell off a cliff in the '14 finals? It's cute that he had a nice little rebound in '15 - but let's not forget that after 2006, Wade never led Miami to anything except first-round losses.

2605998, He led Miami to the brink of a ring in 2011 but his #2 choked

Posted by 40thStreetBlack, Wed Apr-26-17 01:26 PM
and thinks that he's defending Lebron's honor by denigrating Wade. It's weird, but dude is a weirdo.
