They could easily have been deflated by the early fuckup but they hung with it and the last 35 or so minutes of the game they owned it. They gave Edmonton nothing. Very few second chances, one dangerous deflection and some medium-grade stuff. Just a controlled, steady, energetic game. They got pucks deep, they made Edmonton defend and they controlled the line change/match up game. Most of the time when Edmonton was looking to come up ice, they were also looking to get a change. McDavid tried to turn it on a few times but they didn't give him any space in the O-zone. I think he needs to get stronger and work more on a down low game, then he will be just completely unstoppable. The Oilers weren't able to generate any speed, their breakouts were weak and, ultimately, they started turning it over. Nice fore check, good pressure within good structure. I was very impressed, even though it wasn't sexy or lopsided, that was one of their best games all year.
