It may be that someone tweeted and asked him directly if he took it but my point is that to my knowledge Justin Roberts never said that it was JBL who stole it, just that it was stolen.

Yep in fact there's also a Matt Hardy shoot where Matt says JBL asked, in a roundabout way, for Matt and Jeff to break off toothpicks in Cyrus's car so he couldn't get his gear and couldn't get to his arena. He asked on some "suppose you did this thing with these toothpicks, suppose he couldn't change, get his stuff, or make it to the arena, I imagine Taker and myself would be very happy with you".

Matt said they did enough to get in his graces and JBL left them alone after that.
