2546086, NBA Finals Gm 5: Queen Lebron, First of His Name, Mother of Draygoons
Posted by PROMO, Mon Jun-13-16 01:23 PM
ONLY THE TRUE MOTHER CAN MOUNT THE DRAYGOON AND BECOME A DRAYGOONRIDER. HAIL QUEEN LEBRON!

LOL.

(this is the official game post. duh.)
2546132, let me get on record. Warriors for the ring by 11.
Posted by PROMO, Mon Jun-13-16 02:58 PM
Warriors fans start "Lebron's a bitch!" and "Draymond, Draymond" chants.

Curry and Klay both get 30 or more.

Curry gets Finals MVP.

2546133, could see all of this happening. This post getting locked/deleted tho

..not that any excuse would matter at this point.

when you consider the fact that they whined about not being healthy during last year's finals, then complained about dirty play this year (but feign ignorance when that complaint is made about them), a loss to gsw without draymond green will certainly have every critic on fire.

admittedly, this scenario must suck for green. we know he wants this team to bury the cavs and win it all tonight, but that would mean he doesn't get to participate in that floor celebration.

i'm reading that in a benedict cumberbatch voice.

e's a bit under the weather. suffering from an accumulation of nut punches, 'e is.

that'd make a helluva title for an hourly dramedy about a middle aged cat that play ball on the weekends and rock them new stephs.

He's better in this situation. With the volume of allowed groping, Curry is catching all sorts of hell getting free. He looks visibly tired of getting grabbed and tugged when he's trying to get his Ray Allen on.

Meanwhile, Klay is taking whatever space he gets and let's it go like Frozen.

Posted by FILF, Tue Jun-14-16 12:34 AM
Doesn't matter how they get them nor the rest of their game.

Francis got ran out of Houston b/c his over-dribbling ass wouldn't pass the ball to Yao as he was busy putting on an And-1 exhibition which is what folks accuse of Kyrie. Their numbers through their first 5 seasons is similar, including their AST%: http://bkref.com/tiny/vVo4E

Watch this duel & tell me which one had a similar game as Kyrie: http://www.dailymotion.com/video/x20yaqq_throwback-steve-francis-vs-kobe-bryant-full-duel-highlights-2003-01-17-rockets-vs-lakers-sick_sport

The last quarter of his playoff career was the one where he got outscored by Lance Stephenson.
2546520, comparison was about making buckets so your just mocking yourself idiot

Melo in his 4th season scored 27ppg shooting 48% against the Spurs in the 2007 playoffs while being guarded by 1st team All-Defense Bowen:

>The last quarter of his playoff career was the one where he

Bowen ALWAYS struggled against bully-ball wings, fat/out-of-shape Bonzi Wells destroyed him in the 2006 postseason: http://www.basketball-reference.com/playoffs/2006-nba-western-conference-first-round-kings-vs-spurs.html

Bruce Bowen was a MAJOR beneficiary of playing w/ PRIME Tim/Mourning otherwise dude is overrated just like Klay is an overrated defender.

>you mean when he outscored Lance and David West combined while
>outshooting Paul George?

Yep, the game where he was in a zone but got shutdown in the 4th quarter. When Kyrie in a zone, dude is unstoppable.
2546651, comparison was about shot making ability, not style of play

LOL - Bowen barely played with prime Mourning & made All-Defense in Miami the year Zo missed most of the season after being diagnosed with kidney disease.

>Yep, the game where he was in a zone but got shutdown in the
>4th quarter.

Nope, Lance didn't outscore Melo in any game that series, neither did DWest or NyQuil.

> When Kyrie in a zone, dude is unstoppable.

Yet he can't make the playoffs without Bron carrying him there. Weird.

2546679, At their respecitive PEAKS AI/Arenas averaged more than FatMelo
Posted by FILF, Tue Jun-14-16 01:47 PM
>LOL - Bowen barely played with prime Mourning & made
>All-Defense in Miami the year Zo missed most of the season
>after being diagnosed with kidney disease.

Bowen made a name for himself in 2000 postseason when PEAK Mourning was alive & kicking. He got inserted into the starting lineup in 2000-01 & Mashburn gave him work for taking his spot in the postseason.

>Nope, Lance didn't outscore Melo in any game that series,
>neither did DWest or NyQuil.

It was Roy "Wilt 2.0" Hibbert & George "Kyrie 2.0" Hill that outscored him in two separate games. He basically attempted as many shots as PG/Lance COMBINED & they matched his scoring.

>Yet he can't make the playoffs without Bron carrying him
>there. Weird.

Bowen made a name for himself & took Mashburn's spot in the 2000 postseason by averaging 12 min/gm in the Knicks series while being glued to the bench in game 7 playing all of 5 minutes in the elimination game? Lolz.

>It was Roy "Wilt 2.0" Hibbert & George "Kyrie 2.0" Hill that

LOL yup, never mind that Melo scored almost as much as Hibbert + Hill COMBINED for the entire series, outscored DWest + Lance COMBINED for the series, as well as outscoring Paul "Top 5 Superstar" George in each game, but Hibbert scored 3 more points in one game and Hill 2 more in another so somehow he didn't score enough? I mean do you ever just stop and think "Wow, even *I* can't believe this bullshit I just typed"?

yes, because Larry Hughes carried LeBron to the playoffs, obviously.

Dumbass, Mashburn got traded after he came up small against the Knicks in the 2000 postseason. Bowen became the starting SF in 2000-01 & he got his lunch eaten by Mashburn (who was playing for the Hornets) in the 2001 postseason.

Bowen played well when he got minutes, him barely playing in Gm 7 isn't surprising considering that he was picked up late in the season & coaches shorten their rotation in Gm 7s. Riley chose to ride Majerle/Mashburn & it's not like they needed his defense either considering Allan Houston was throwing up bricks.

>LOL yup, never mind that Melo scored almost as much as Hibbert
>+ Hill COMBINED for the entire series, outscored DWest + Lance

Dummy, his points per shots & TS% were only marginally better than Paul George/Lance who matched him point for point for the duration of the series. We ain't even talking about 2013-14 Lance/PG when they had breakout season, Granger was supposed to be the #1 dude.

>but Hibbert scored 3 more
>points in one game and Hill 2 more in another so somehow he
>didn't score enough? I mean do you ever just stop and think
>"Wow, even *I* can't believe this bullshit I just typed"?

Dude is supposed to be an unstoppable scoring machine then gets locked up in the 4th quarter of a game when he was in a ZONE. It's not like he was out of rhythm & couldn't get anything going like 2010 Finals Gm 7 Kirby. PG switched onto him full time in the 4th quarter & that was all she wrote: http://8points9seconds.com/2013/05/14/how-paul-george-is-containing-carmelo-anthony/

Postup wings are much either to check than guards like Kyrie/Arenas who can breakdown defenses & either get to the cup or hit long range bombs off the dribble.

and Bowen made a name for himself & took Mashburn's spot by scoring 2.7 ppg on 31% shooting in that series? man shut your stupid ass ass up already.

2.7 ppg, 0.9 rpg, .313/.214/.750, 84 ORtg = "played well"? Lolz.

you mean COMBINED they matched his scoring & were *STILL* less efficient? LOL yeah that's the point dumbass, Melo was carrying the Knicks scoring load by himself all series.

>We ain't even talking about 2013-14
>Lance/PG when they had breakout season, Granger was supposed

PG was an All-Star & All-NBA in 2012-13 dummy.

so Jordan and Kobe were much easier to check than Kyrie/Arenas? yeah ok.

And what are you still babbling about Arenas for? Go make an Arenas post if you want to talk about him so badly, this thread wasn't about him.

Dumbass, Bowen didn't get ticks b/c of his offense just like Roberson isn't starting OKC b/c he gets buckets.

>>Bowen played well when he got minutes, him barely playing in
>
>2.7 ppg, 0.9 rpg, .313/.214/.750, 84 ORtg = "played well"?

There is a reason dude never averaged 10ppg & didn't attempt anything but corner 3s but was a starter on 3 championship teams. You're embarrassing yourself by posting irrelevant stats which is why you stay losing like FatMelo.

>you mean COMBINED they matched his scoring & were *STILL* less
>efficient? LOL yeah that's the point dumbass, Melo was
>carrying the Knicks scoring load by himself all series.

LMAO, the guy who got a 1st place MVP vote b/c of his offensive output isn't being asked to carry the offense? Lance Stephenson has been exposed as a scrub & PG was a guy that was forced into a #1 option role b/c of Granger's injury but yet they matched the scoring machine's point totals while attempting the SAME amount of shots.

I guess he isn't as good a "shot maker" as Iverson?

>PG was an All-Star & All-NBA in 2012-13 dummy.

That had a LOT to do w/ his defense, he isn't a one way player like FatMelo. He had ZERO MVP votes let alone a 1st place vote over PEAK Bron.

>so Jordan and Kobe were much easier to check than
>Kyrie/Arenas? yeah ok.

Jordan/Kobe weren't LOW IQ players who lacked elite athleticism or playmaking skills like Fatmelo. Their footwork was also much better thus their postups were trickier than straight bully-ball.

>And what are you still babbling about Arenas for? Go make an
>Arenas post if you want to talk about him so badly, this
>thread wasn't about him.

He's relevant b/c he was the best scoring PG of the mid 2000s (aka previous generation) & Kobe himself complimented him on his "bad shot" making abilities ala Kyrie.

Arenas is the guy that birthed the whole jack up 30 ft shots w/ 15 sec on the shot-clock steeze Curry/Kyrie have adopted. He's also the only PG to score 60 in a game since the merger (Iverson did but he wasn't a PG).

In his 5th season, Arenas was holding his own against Bron in a playoff series & not shooting 36% while being guarded by Puke Walton: http://www.basketball-reference.com/playoffs/2006-nba-eastern-conference-first-round-wizards-vs-cavaliers.html

you said Bowen made a name for himself in that series and took Mashburn's spot based off his performance in it you dumb fuck.

>There is a reason dude never averaged 10ppg & didn't attempt
>anything but corner 3s but was a starter on 3 championship

you mean his overrated defense? I'd say you were embarrassing yourself with your self-contradicting bullshit but you would need to have self-respect to be able to feel embarrassment.

>LMAO, the guy who got a 1st place MVP vote b/c of his

so scoring as much as their #1 option All-NBA wing + their starting scoring guard combined while carrying the offensive load by himself against the #1 ranked defense in the league and still being as/more efficient than them is bad? was he supposed to score as much as both of them together plus Hibbert too? your idiocy really knows no bounds.

>I guess he isn't as good a "shot maker" as Iverson?

Melo's scoring output in that series basically matched AI's career playoff averages except more efficient with better shooting %'s, so I guess yeah he is.

>>so Jordan and Kobe were much easier to check than
>>Kyrie/Arenas? yeah ok.
>
>Jordan/Kobe weren't LOW IQ players who lacked elite

You made a blanket statement that postup wings are easier to check than dynamic small guards so I pointed out why you are wrong. Jordan/Kobe became postup players as their athleticism waned in their 30's so elite athleticism is not a requisite. And now you're praising "Kobrick" for his basketball IQ? You're a fucking clown. Also Melo has top-notch footwork and better playmaking skills than GOAT SF - LOL.

>>And what are you still babbling about Arenas for? Go make an

and none of that refutes anything in this thread. like I said if you are so eager to talk about Gil then go make a post about him.

No, he shot 36% in the playoffs the year before while being guarded by Chris Duhon. And never made it past the second round.

It's a never ever thing. It is the exact thing that people ask of star players. We just saw two cats on try same team do it on the same night. Crazy nice to see.

It sucks that NBA narratives lose a lot of nuance. If Cleveland loses game 6, it'll be damn near like this game didn't happen.

It's time for Curry to fuck around and get/stay serious. Dude needs to stick these shots when he finally gets a look after multiple possessions of being groped out of the play and leaving his team basically a man down. I get it...he made a gang of them, but he can't be missing open looks out here. Just like the OKC series, 3-1 is not the end. You gotta fuggin take that 4th one.

2014 Finals was essentially a best of 5 after the Spurs/Heat split Gm 1 & Gm 2. Kawhi proceeded to outplay Kang for the final 3 games of the series while they were matched up w/ each other on BOTH ends. (Kang padded his stats in the 4th quarter aka garbage time as the final 3 games were essentially over by the end of the 3rd)

The turning point of the series was when Kawhi went to PEAK Kang's palace & snatched his heart in Gm 3. That was the day the bully got knocked out: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k3GQzUDKMOU

Tail-end-of-prime Kang meanwhile is dropping 40 on Iggy & the so called best "2-way" player in 2016.

luckily we have the olympics this year but otherwise i hope and wish for the NBA playoffs to go into late June.

plus I give the NBA $200 every year for league pass (in addition to game tix). I want every game I can get.

LeBron is DEFINITELY the underdog this year against this GS team, no question. This is one of the few situations where he has been in recent years.

I think with Kyrie in there last season at least? Cavs win.

this year's Cavs team is healthy but the continuity isn't there (for a number of reasons)

so far, they've done what they did last year.
2546638, oh you're in that group cause you are cav fan tho so its kinda different

the picks/screens.

Both teams been guilty, and in the previous series as well.

There were like 3 straight cav possessions wherre Iggy and Thompson were all tangled up in screens pushing each other and what not. Gotta be a foul on someone.

Ball handler moving before the screen is even set...screener turning with the defender smh..niggas look like they playing fightball smh

2546584, safe to assume no bogut in game 6 right?
Posted by Cenario, Tue Jun-14-16 09:50 AM
dude was pretty ineffective last night and with dray back, they need him less anyway. Yesterday was the game they coulda really used him.

As for the rest of the bigs, Varajeo been playing the best on both ends except he can't hit any free throws. Speights is feast or famine and yesterday was famine big time. Ezeli makes some dumb play in the first 2 minutes that he's out there and then gets the hook from kerr.

GS needs someone to step up in game 6 out of livingston, Barnes and the bigs to run with splash bros, iggy and dray.
2546591, i think that's a safe assumption.
Posted by PROMO, Tue Jun-14-16 09:55 AM
kerr really didn't do a good job of coaching last night.

he was throwing stuff at the wall to see what stuck instead of just trusting dudes. hacking thompson was the death knell.
2546595, thats what he does all the time tho as far as throwing guys in there for
Posted by Cenario, Tue Jun-14-16 10:11 AM
a couple of minutes here and there.

Also, i thought the hack a thomspon was smart. Kyrie was unstoppable. TT was 4 of 10 from the line. Kyrie was scoring at a much better clip than that. The problem was that once TT split his FTs they weren't scoring on the other end.

Despite what Bron and Kyrie did, they only scored 36 points in the 2nd half. That's the real reason they lost.
2546602, i disagree about the hacks.
Posted by PROMO, Tue Jun-14-16 10:20 AM
i don't think thompson is a bad enough FT shooter for that to work.

also, it allowed bron and kyrie to rest, but more than that it's just not the Dubs game.

they thrive off momentum so there's not way for, say, Steph to hit a three, get a steal, Steph to hit another 3 or whatever, when you're just slowing down the game like that.

if that was DeAndre Jordan MAYBE that works if the guy is missing every FT but on avg Thompson will hit 2 out of 3.
2546605, i agree about ky and bron resting and about the dubs rhythm
Posted by Cenario, Tue Jun-14-16 10:27 AM
however, Thompson shot 40% from the line yesterday.
2546609, exactly, it was a bitch move. Kerr fucked that up
Posted by legsdiamond, Tue Jun-14-16 10:33 AM
and when you have the best shooters in the game why the fuck you trying to slow the game down?
2546639, bc kyrie was in a rhythm. Nobody could stop him. That was the only way

2546613, At this point, I wonder what his trade value is.
Posted by SoulHonky, Tue Jun-14-16 10:36 AM
Love for 'Melo would have been seriously considered last year; this year, the Knicks would hang up the phone (although the emergence of Zingis plays into that as well.)

I sure as hell wouldn't want the C's to deal the #3 pick for him, which was probably the minimum to get him this offseason.
2546624, definitely doubt they get anything approaching equal value
Posted by Dr Claw, Tue Jun-14-16 11:22 AM
>I sure as hell wouldn't want the C's to deal the #3 pick for
>him, which was probably the minimum to get him this
>offseason.

and any deal is probably going to involve multiple teams due to the contract (IF a trade happens)

this whole business with the Cavs has made me really appreciate (though still utterly hate) the Miami Heat Death Star's accomplishments in retrospect.

LeBron + Wade alone, from a personal level, held much more continuity over time (an important quality of successful basketball teams) than LeBron + any member of this Cavs team not named James Jones. There was a level of trust that allowed those two + Bosh just do what they needed to do that isn't quite there with the Cavs IMO.

also has me looking at the Celtics Big 3 a different way. It was never really negative, but there was a level of complement that made that core work.

2546631, the accomplishments of that Miami team are/were under-regarded
Posted by Vex_id, Tue Jun-14-16 11:44 AM
They were truly a special team - and most (including myself) didn't quite appreciate that historic 4-year run which is 30-for-30 material waiting to happen.

When Bron moved to Cleveland - I thought Irving and Love would be better complements than Wade and Bosh -- that was a bit naive for sure - although I do think that Irving has lived up to my expectations - while Love has woefully performed and has been fragile/unfit for the big moment.

Still - Cleveland has been to the Finals in two consecutive years after being a lottery team prior to Bron's arrival - that in itself is a massive accomplishment. They have to win a 'chip (and they will) - but I don't think this present composition is built to do that. Changes will made in the off-season. If they can somehow win this year - it will be the greatest accomplishment in NBA Finals history.

Posted by Cenario, Tue Jun-14-16 12:37 PM
years with veteran experience completely willing to sacrifice for a ring and they all had very specific roles..rarely stepping on each other toes...with great leadership from the front office down

Miami they were more in their prime, just took some time to find their roles and gel...great leadership as well from the front office down to the vet guys on the bench.

Cavs are more in their prime then Miami (with the exception of Lebron obviously) less experienced, and missing the leadership outside of lebron as well.
2546657, Love was more Boozer/Amare than Bosh/KG in the first place

Bosh/KG were able to play with dominant scorer b/c they were elite defenders who didn't need the ball to impact the game. On offense, they were also elite pick-and-pop guys who could play off the ball.

Someone like Horford would have been a much better fit than Love despite him being considered an inferior player.
2546652, I don't think the Knicks would hang up the phone on that

Melo is only getting worse and has a worse contract. I would do that deal in a heartbeat, personally.
2546659, A worse 'Melo is still better than Love
Posted by SoulHonky, Tue Jun-14-16 01:15 PM
'Melo makes about three million more, which isn't terrible. Also, I think Love is a lousy fit with Porzingis, which is who they should be focusing on.
2546666, hell no aannd that would force porzingis to Center. No thank you.

2546690, Sign-and-trade: Dwight to the Hawks, Horford to Cavs, Love to Rockets
Posted by FILF, Tue Jun-14-16 01:59 PM
This would only be plausible if Horford wants to play in Cleveland & the Hawks want Dwight. A sign-and-trade would allow Horford/Dwight to get a 5 year deal which is probably what they are looking for considering they are both 30.

Love can go back to being a 25/15 guy playing under D'Antoni who's probably the only coach that STILL views him an elite player. Dwight would give the Hawks much need paint presence & Horford can keep doing what he has been doing since he came into the league.
2546716, I'd swap Love for Horford in a minute

2546736, The Rockets are gonna be an interesting team.

Postrophe coaching James Harden and friends.

2546741, I'd think the Rox would say, "Nah, just give us Horford."
Posted by SoulHonky, Tue Jun-14-16 04:10 PM
And cut the Cavs out of the deal.
2546758, If Horford wants to play on a contender then Houston ain't it
Posted by FILF, Tue Jun-14-16 07:34 PM
If the Rockets lose out on Horford who else is out there that fits D'Antoni's system?

Larry Drew who is on the Cavs staff also coached Horford in ATL.
2546828, bogut doone for the finals with a knee

He's been mostly ineffective although not having that option hurts GS. That being said, he's only been playing 12 minutes a series but he's their best true Center. One of the bigs need to step up for Warriors.
2546881, They are going to miss his passing, rim protection & illegal screens

Kerr hasn't been playing Ezeli but this will likely force his hands.
2547098, and in true Dubs fashion he will just become part of that 'rotation'
Posted by Dr Claw, Thu Jun-16-16 01:31 PM
after beasting when called upon the way McAdoo is about to. shit is infuriating.

2548457, Why did Kerr put Ezeli back in? Wow, he was horrible
