2544355, MLB Talk 6.8: Yordano Ventura is still throwing at people

http://m.mlb.com/video/v787801783/must-c-confrontation-machados-mad-charge-at-ventura

Ventura is going to get Eric Hosmer killed by accident.
2544356, I'm digging these Astros/Rangers series
Posted by Call It Anything, Wed Jun-08-16 01:21 AM
Rangers got the Astros for 8 in a row so far this year, after winning 8 in a row at one point last year. 8-0 in 2016 and 13-6 in 2005. That is basically the difference in their record right now.

Both teams are stocked with exciting players and a bunch of personalities.
2544892, our manager went very popovic last night
Posted by GriftyMcgrift, Thu Jun-09-16 09:46 AM
rolled out the b squad essentially. all good we have like 28 games in 29 days so probably was a smart thing
2544357, Machado definitely needed to punch dude for that...
Posted by Castro, Wed Jun-08-16 01:46 AM
99mph in the ribs!?!?!? FOH.

2544447, wow that little guy throws that fast?
Posted by falafel stand pimpin, Wed Jun-08-16 12:33 PM
id be feeling myself too
2544376, ahhhh yes, that guy. Still a dirtbag.
Posted by Deebot, Wed Jun-08-16 09:04 AM
2544509, All the Royals fans in my neighborhood had plenty to say about Joey Bats
Posted by DeepAztheRoot, Wed Jun-08-16 01:53 PM
conveniently quiet today
2544520, that's what needs to happen every time
Posted by justin_scott, Wed Jun-08-16 02:07 PM
if a pitcher is going to throw at batters, then the batter needs to charge the mound, and fuck that pitcher up. i guarantee, you throw a ball at me, i'm swinging the bat at you. you gonna do something foul that could kill me, i'm gonna do the same to you.
2544861, Still a psychopath
Posted by Ceej, Thu Jun-09-16 08:41 AM
Too bad Manny has to get suspended
2544949, Both of those guys are dirt bags
Posted by Heinz, Thu Jun-09-16 11:06 AM
People hate Machado and Ventura because they talk too much for no reason. Way too early in their careers they were doing this. Remember when Machado threw his bat on a swing at Josh Donaldson who was standing all the way at 3B. Smh. He has matured since then but it's only been a year since that incident so we'll see. I agree with what he did cause Ventura is a moron, he's always talking shit when he's struggling. But I grinned when he got beamed lol

People hate Joey Bats because he hits home runs lol. A lot of them. Guys who consistently hit over 40 homers a bunch of season in their career are always allowed to celebrate. It just is what it is. Big Papi, Bonds, these guys all watch the ball. A lot of this generation forget that, they only feel like they are getting showed up.
2545773, keep Manny name out your mouth
Posted by philpot, Sun Jun-12-16 02:00 AM
You still mad your man Joey Bitch-Bats became a meme
2544971, fuck him & fuck KC +meathead Moose screaming @Thor throwing a high pitch
Posted by 40thStreetBlack, Thu Jun-09-16 12:15 PM
to Escobar in the WS that was nowhere near hitting him when this motherfucker is throwing 99 mph fastballs at batters left and right
2545058, Agreed....but Machado also drew the line and played chicken
Posted by Heinz, Thu Jun-09-16 04:02 PM
with a guy KNOWN to throw at people. Do i think Ventura was throwing at Machado the previous at bat...No. Not by his reaction. Do i think he throws at people intentionally. HANDS DOWN. And when he hit Machado he did that....just not when Machado was initially mad at. He chirped back and challenged Ventura...who is never one to back down at being a pussy and throwing at someone. So he did.
2545067, damn right Manny drew the line,
Posted by grandmasterfletch, Thu Jun-09-16 06:17 PM
and many players supported him doing so. Manny was right to chirp. Yordano was pissed he was getting lit up so he acted like a child. Bush league. Ventura should have got 30 games for his clear intention and past history. He misses one start.
2545338, Nah he wasnt. Those first 2 pitches didn't seem intentional
Posted by Heinz, Fri Jun-10-16 06:36 PM
I'm not defending Ventura I hate that guy. But look at his reaction to the first or second one, he looks away like he was pissed the ball got away. I can't call it on the other one but I don't think he was throwing at him that first at bat. Usually when he does he's looking straight at the batter LOOOOOKING for that reaction. He stares people down all the time when he's trying to start a fight. He didn't do that till after Machado got the hit and was pissed talking to him.

Ventura was like cool, u thought i was throwing at you and cuoldnt hit you. And like the bitch he is, he did it.

I wouldnt have been surprised if Manny was looking for that fight. Found his reason and got it. I'm glad he did. But both of these guys have growing up to do. Manny got better especially since he's becoming an elite player, but he still has that self entitled shit in him
2545066, MLB Draft subpost?
Posted by Call It Anything, Thu Jun-09-16 06:08 PM
2545072, This was a muddy draft, but the top looks a lot different than projections
Posted by Walleye, Thu Jun-09-16 06:51 PM
Or, at least the ones I remember.

Got your eye on anybody for Washington?
2545075, Outside of the Top 20 for me, it's mostly guess work
Posted by Call It Anything, Thu Jun-09-16 07:16 PM
I followed Kyle Lewis very closely this year because of ties to Mercer and he seems to be slipping a bit below where some people had thought he might go.

Nats took two light hitting athletic OFs in the second round last year. I wasn't excited about either. The LSU kid is doing alright. Just made the Carolina League All-Star roster. Better than 2014 first round pick Erick Fedde also in Potomac.

Rizzo's draft resume is looking less and less rosy as time goes on. I don't think that he should get any real credit for Strasburg and Harper. On the other hand, he gets major credit for Jordan Zimmermann. After that he's got Rendon, Espinosa, and Derek Norris. Giolito should be a stud, but that feels light for a 10 year window.
2545237, White Sox not wasting any time
Posted by will_5198, Fri Jun-10-16 01:26 PM
Mat Latos and Jimmy Rollins got the DFA this week.
2545249, i had hopes for mat latos
Posted by GriftyMcgrift, Fri Jun-10-16 01:58 PM
he had a decent start, always liked him
2545310, And they signed Justin Morneau
Posted by Call It Anything, Fri Jun-10-16 04:35 PM
It's like they are going through the pockets of left behind clothing in the lost and found looking for enough spare change to get them a bus ride to the playoffs.
2545963, pretty accurate
Posted by Deebot, Mon Jun-13-16 09:30 AM
2545763, giants stole on kenley jensen
Posted by Flash80, Sat Jun-11-16 10:29 PM
like, how?

bochy used NINE pitchers.

(LOL @ klay in a dodger hat and kerr's half-assed high five on the game winner)
2545765, Kenley had a rare rough night, no movement on his cutter
Posted by LA2Philly, Sat Jun-11-16 11:06 PM
Not sure why Klay wearing a dodger hat is funny/surprising...his brother is on the team and he grew up in southern cal.
2545791, i thought you might.
Posted by Flash80, Sun Jun-12-16 11:46 AM
>Not sure why Klay wearing a dodger hat is
>funny/surprising...his brother is on the team and he grew up
>in southern cal.

yes, i know. and the announcers made it perfectly clear. tell it to the fans who booed him w/out context.

i actually thought it was a contrarian boss move, given the b-ball buzz sweeping the bay area right now. klay in a dodger hat getting booed loudly by a giants fanbase consisting largely of transplants who've never spent anytime in so-cal/LA, but still hate 'cause it's groupthink fashionista to do so, is where my LOL moment comes in...

you'll see the same dipshits cheering for the nigga on monday night.

you've lived here so you know.... it's just that insufferable of an identity crisis right now.... sports, tech and otherwise.

i wish the golden handcuffs weren't so tight around my wrists.
2545795, Ah got it
Posted by LA2Philly, Sun Jun-12-16 12:36 PM
And definitely agreed on the insufferable transplant bandwagon fanbase...same shit in LA obviously, just makes it so much worse for the actual fans.
2548141, RE: Ah got it
Posted by Flash80, Sun Jun-19-16 05:15 PM
>And definitely agreed on the insufferable transplant
>bandwagon fanbase...same shit in LA obviously, just makes it
>so much worse for the actual fans.

my fam down there says it's getting pretty pricey/inflated rents. i guess the midwest/northeast is hitting all of Cali at once.

bubble-icous.
2545834, Quite the comeback year for CC so far
Posted by adam, Sun Jun-12-16 02:58 PM
Really happy for him. He's always been an easy dude to root for, and coming back this year after the injuries and going to rehab last year, it's been great to watch.

Hopefully he stays healthy and pitches the whole year. He's not gonna keep an ERA around 0.70, or whatever it's been over the last month and a half, of course, but I'd love to see him pitch well for a whole year.
2545875, Mazara and Profar are just a treat to watch
Posted by GriftyMcgrift, Sun Jun-12-16 06:20 PM
good times in texas
2545879, RE: Mazara and Profar are just a treat to watch
Posted by Call It Anything, Sun Jun-12-16 07:27 PM
Mazara has a shot to join Trout and Ichiro as the only guys to win Rookie of the Month in three straight months.
2545880, dude is a veteran in a 21 year olds body
Posted by GriftyMcgrift, Sun Jun-12-16 07:31 PM
his hitting is ridiculous
his arm as mentioned ridiculous

hes dreadfully slow (i swear he has the slowest homerun trot for someone not named big papi) yet somehow still has good range in the outfield.

2546030, holy shit at that throw yesterday
Posted by 40thStreetBlack, Mon Jun-13-16 11:23 AM
I knew Mazara was hitting but good god, that was one of the best outfield assists I've ever seen, made even more awesome by it ending the game.
2546073, ya hes already got a few this season
Posted by GriftyMcgrift, Mon Jun-13-16 01:08 PM
they keep talking like they are gonna put choo in right field when he comes back but thats ridiculous

mazara has to stay out there with that arm
2545940, Michael Fulmer tho.
Posted by cgonz00cc, Mon Jun-13-16 08:12 AM
28 1/3 scoreless consecutive innings over 4 starts of 6+ innings, with 3 or fewer hits per game.

Jake Arrieta accomplished the same feat over last 3 of last year and his first start this year, but all of Fulmer's have come in 2016.

Dombrowski's final gift.

2545941, Selling last year is gonna be so genius in 2/3 years
Posted by Ceej, Mon Jun-13-16 08:14 AM
Fullmer, Boyd, Norris....FOH.
2546042, And he got fucking fired for it smh
Posted by cgonz00cc, Mon Jun-13-16 11:53 AM
2546055, "fired"
Posted by Ceej, Mon Jun-13-16 12:35 PM
I think he was ready to go
2546077, Yeah, he got a full cycle with that team
Posted by Walleye, Mon Jun-13-16 01:10 PM
Rebuild to success to trying desperately to sustain success - and then started the new rebuild. I can't imagine that he didn't think that it was time to try something new himself.
2545942, scary that he was in the mets farm as well.
Posted by Cenario, Mon Jun-13-16 08:16 AM
he wasn't even on my radar smh.
2546157, He wasn't in our top 20 prospects last year, never played above AA
Posted by KosherSam, Mon Jun-13-16 03:44 PM
can't be too mad, we don't make the series without Cespedes, and there's no spot in the rotation for Fulmer when Wheeler comes back.
2546159, yup agreed.
Posted by Cenario, Mon Jun-13-16 03:46 PM
2546769, 6 wins in 6 starts for Greinke
Posted by HecticHavoc, Wed Jun-15-16 02:53 AM
Pitching as advertised lately, he's nearly unhittable it's fun to watch.

What isn't fun to watch you may ask? The Snakes winning 14 home games, only better than the fucking Braves! GREAT.
2548076, Rangers, best record in franchise history
Posted by GriftyMcgrift, Sat Jun-18-16 07:57 PM
coming back on people left and right

they arent joking about that #nevereverquit stuff
2548138, Rangers sweep the cards
Posted by GriftyMcgrift, Sun Jun-19-16 04:34 PM
22 comeback wins
16-4 in one run games

no big deal
