Th Rockets also relied on those two less than the Knicks relied on Starks. Starks was unquestionably the second best player, and second option on the Knicks. They couldn't win with him having a bad game. The Rockets could win games where Maxwell barely had an impact, especially with the rise of Mario Elie (who was the anti-Maxwell: steady hand, smart, etc).
